"coverlet" poems
,***how do you know when (a human is too broken?)*** <•> human too broken? like the light bulb, removal from its fixture, a simple shaking revelation of the tinkling filament spent, something that cannot be repaired, the only option is replacement and that makes you cry the empty box of oatmeal raisin cookies, you find secret’d, hid by you, not to be found by you at the bottom of the kitchen garbage, but box betrayal, by the chartreuse tipped box lid sided peeking upwards, asking, silencing screaming, what did I do to deserve this degrading like the blouse now too tight that it brings stares as the buttons strain, unwelcome attention unintended, you know it but still pretend not to see, for you both once loved that silky guise that so heightened the high tender, the match of your pink rose skin letting, no! making your eyes glisten, like broken filament glass, on the sidewalk, recalling the pleasured admiration, rain remembered from the prior priority of a life consisting of only perfect gifts so mean revert to the poseur question; this is how... remove the human from a fixed place, whimpering-threatened, you may hear clear the crackle cackling  of the innard shards against the misperception of a body intact, even if you do, no repair service you want,  can be found, see it nowhere, is it even anywhere advertised? the body presumed intact is secret’d under a tactile coverlet, holey scupperrd holy cuttered so that the cells and bicuspids, the threads no longer function in a tandem, you keep it in the closet closed, in the back, deep hid, where, when it screams why, it can be safe ignored, because  ‘betrayed’ is no longer a word, in your globe's dictionary, the parental controls activated by you to save your own inner child’s unconstrained confusion, it has been removed so the broken glass, the clothes you dressed each other, if not weep-well, well enough hid, the fit is off, the fit is off, the coverlet ripped so bad and neither cares

Shadows and Fire
the count starts now (tired of tired) I read your outcry at 3:00am posted on Facebook you are tired of tired sick of sick the only question, will it ever end... rise this day,  start another way... count your blessing count against all odds for there are more than merely one use both hands both hands chested to feel the heart thrusting, for living is a wondrous blessing unique an unbelievable to believe than so many beats, born and borne, by you, a strength unequaled, you a richness possessed count that one first. count my hands holding your shoulders. count that as two, one for me, one for you. more? more.   mirror.  find the tiny light in each eye against a yellow backdrop. add two more. for they are a sparking confidence of confirming. you felt the heart thrumming go back, feel the breathing warmth breaching forth. add another. for now known you can never ever be cold. wash the face, wash away the caution that sleep leaves, the coverlet of fear that fears you not to dare, amazing that tap water plain is sacred when it miracle breaks you out and anoints thy forehead with pure oil like the kings of yore, be a kingly human being. go out. do not return until one act of kind is performed and count that as a thousand blessed, a sum recurring recounted walk humble and the path will always appear. walk contented for you can be both king and servant, there is no difference - you must be both to be the other one. and if you still cannot raise the head, call me. that would be a blessing for me and I will hear your blessings sounds mine merge, dear friend and no more stranger, that is the simplest definition of our learning to count to infinity

we lay together, 6:00am, body warmth touch-sharing, as the June morning summer chill coming off its night nadir coolness surrenders very reluctantly, full length pajamas, blankets and coverlets in use, keeping cold out while bodies touching generate heat - a big difference through these layers of cotton controversy, my right arm, my cunning, falls awkwardly upon her, advising I am woken and aware she is as well, hear her earbuds emplaced, make shushed whispering noises re the future of artificial intelligence and other such mental knottings my awkward angled arm rests on her landscaped outline of shape, coming to rest where legs meet at the top of an upside down V spot, which makes no request, but accepts my bequest of steady stroking of her ****** as an unnecessary but atheist-acceptable to her morning prayer ritual, kept at the intersection of the physical and physics theorems funny how some prayers, where recitation comes thoughtlessly and routine, uttered without any contemplation are yet deep comforting for their inherency, so I pray a stroking repetitive on her body, well hid neath a summer coverlet, wordlessly chanted, wordlessly accepted, silence connoting approving permission I comfort her, above and through a floral coverlet for her floral coverlet, till the sun rises enough to truly warm up our plot, my praying reaches the end of its rope, where quality and quantity achieve unanimity resolution no longer needed, but am appreciated, besides my arm is cramping, not designed for the rising, unleveled angle of her breathing bodice my comfort is her extra comforter, an offering of coffee my reward, for my daily work has begun, and I have many more poems stillborn that require coaxing stroking to become witnesses to living

Prosecco cocktails, être pour la danse, cassis pour moi avec limoncello, madame, passion fruit, and blood oranges très grownup, breakfast at Tiffany's, she is all sunglasses and Audreyfied, me and George P., struggling writers, checking if i got enough cash or have to exit smooth, just in case, maybe we leave our coats behind, as ransom? lincoln center plaza cross-dressers, past the opera, the sun, a balmy thirty five degrees, laughing at us teasingly, cause tonight and tomorrow, *********** all the day, winter kisses in case we forgot, early March first belongs to the Ides of Winter Afternoon of a Faun, another ballet, origin, a Mallarmé poem. (you begin to comprehend) yes quite so, a perfect synopsis of the day, Acheron imported from Scarlett Liam who lives in the U.K., but comes to choreograph here, for gloria Americana sundown, soul cold back, "lest we forget," but the dancers bid us adieu with a rousing waltz, frenchified, La Valse, une poème chorégraphique, by Ravel, bien sûr! aroused and heart gladdened, return home for for veal chop love two hours of *** banging, kitchen banishment, (Yay!) chanterelles steeped in red wine, coverlet for a non-vegan tasting, English peas, red and purple potatoes, and for desert, a diet dream of verbal exchanged of detailed I love you's He: I love you, She (happy), replies: I love you more. (this repartee ballet, has been rehearsal danced before) He: Why? her milk is him her eyes are full of good tidings, washing my body with lavender soap cake, all the dirt crumbs of a hard life drained into a circle of holes that carry away carings, to places where their squeaking can’t be heard her hands, pillows for a head so sorrow-weighty, her body, her hips, a bed upon to rest, and he wonders, how did he exist before she become his nest, her hair of grass, now, a coverlet for twigs and strings, when then he laid his body down for disturbed sleep her milk is him, a restorative that refreshes his content, how did, once upon a time, he let existence subtract his time on earth without any relativity, time unrecognizable, he was in no one place, pathless, subsidizing nothing, unable to distinguish tween the straight and the curved her milk in him, whitens his soul, she calls out, “*you are my shepherd, my king, my David, my white marble sculpture of our current existence, when you drink the white of me, it is I who is fulfilled, when you write of me, your milk is me*”

Kindred spirits sharing love from around the world, Touching each other with their welcoming words Having never seen another face to face at all Embracing life pages as their words are now heard We find great hope in the hearts and minds we meet Eating from the same table of Gods creative delight As are filled daily with amazing genuine words Finding our great love for sharing helps us to unite Daily together we lift up hungry spirits in this world With our individual gifts trying not to leave one behind As we all are part of the same beautiful sharing coverlet Full of the real love which our God always had in mind Even though we as humans in many ways are the same We each are gifted specifically by His heavenly design Being bound to the loving spirit of sharing our words To shine radiantly through others His true love divine United we become a real compelling power to others When our written words genuinely carry true weight Because the strength of our inner spirits great vigor Over time helps many lives in this world be reshaped.

THE MOST BEAUTIFUL PEOPLE
The Picture Window The vista view never changes but daily. The naked eye, registers the same distances, resting objects unmoved, modest alterations by wind and water are noted, but for intent, for purpose, the watercolor one would paint be invariably unvarying as a Swiss Alp. The  subtle nuanced worldview, where the sky stretches from ceiling to a foot above ground, as I lay prone neath the coverlet, vista always subtly differing, from its prior reincarnation, self-reflection demands to know. Alive & Awake? Yes. Breathing steady? Yes. Toes? Still can wiggly to & fro. My soul? Presumably ok, as I write, because I write, the picture window into to my insight, though oft blurry, yet intact, making discernible the changes in light, temperature  and heart rate, as the body/soul contraption modulates, just as the gradient of daylight shifts lighter and higher, with a rising sun bringing more clarity to our interactive encounters with our environments.. The picture window internalized, much the same,as the vista, subtle modest changes, colorations variegated, are registered. Today is mostly cloudy overcast, and shall remain so for the foreseeable future, which be about two days hence. Not unsurprisingly, methinks, the future tends to be cloudy. Beyond that peripheral, no one can say, our macular envisioning only gets weaker,time is a tough taskmaster and uncertainty is it’s own principle. But I can say, forecast from well under the comforter, that more than less, where less is more, this picture window, ex and in, shall remain, unchanged for the remainder of my years that fortune shall provide, and will & would grant me awakenings to the ex-sight and in-sight of a sculpted landscape, of negative entropy,  where disorder minimal. My musings end here, unless you still wish, come the morrow, what the marrow the day reveals, what the window will spill, new and exciting, subtly unchanged, and always different. Caution: The injection of caffeine may dramatically alter the windows perspective, as the exogenous always trumps the endogenous. 5:50 AM P.S. Making coffee clarifies: If the vista in +/- unchanging, then, all my personal, own horizons are immortal as well.

Silver Beach: Always the Sole First familiar white fishing boat, up with early light, seeking sustenance and pleasure in = measure, anchored ‘bout quarter mile east of my under-the-coverlet, (of course! as the crow, raven or scavenging osprey flies), it’s precise location amazingly exact, but alas, soon daily familiarity breeds no secrecy, and now joined by a farther out, smaller version, a compatriot in spotitude, of the best spots for harvesting the early running brackish bay water favorites, striped or black sea bass what persistent fortitude these fisher-peoples display, early to rise, first to depart, when others crowd its “spot,” (amazed by its knowing precision the exactitude of “spot”) this ship, always the sole-first, invokes a first poem of the day, always a soul-first, an unburdening of deepest gratitude that one more day granted me to imbibe this vista, awake to its soothing silent heavenly serenity, absent machine or electronic interference with my delicate sleepy wakefulness, when newly minted words come into my mind, my secret spot Sat AM June 3

Silver Beach: Always the Sole First
don’t kiss and tell, meaning do kiss, go crazy, let passion rule, give in, take out, meaning kiss but don’t tell yet, the real telling is in the kissing where your heart gives way, avalanches into frenzied chain of signal fires, smoked, clouded eyes, with only one exception made; the shining, sheer veil see-through when the other is on the room and the green spring coverlet felled, all to see the glow, see all the the blush, the pretense, aversion skins natural makeup, a liberty beacon laughing, how it cannot be hid for what’s inside climbs so fast, blushes blue blood redder, the inside reaction reagent, the weakening composure, the intense beating from heart to head, the joyous tearing, the silent swearing, the stupid grinning, the step skipping, the happy dance springing  spontaneous, no control, might as well just let it go biology in chemistry class all these tells that you have kissed beyond reason, these hidden kisses might as well be on billboards on the highway into town, a P.A. announcement in high school, a hearty button attached to your backpack, the incessant text checking, all dogs nighttime barking all day go ahead kiss and tell go ahead tell and kiss harder, in the kisses, a million tellings every body part red swelling, the tearing of every body part, concentric circles extended from a pebbled heart ~

in the telling is the kissing (hidden kisses)
I here alone apart I realise we are marked by the tide’s turn and that drawing back long aching inhalations intakes of more than breath: the very filling of lungs with white and various sounds of beach of foreshore floating in the heavy air. Its constantness, everywhere   together its everywhere and together oneness, though with such difference scoured into the sand by weather’s hand by the wind’s rough play. II Shield the eyes against the glare against the pressing wind spinning down and past us out of the light noon-distant high-sunned light, glancing the tips of bejewelled waves, dancing, only to fall to translucent hollows,    only to rise and follow the wave before itself, that, even now and finally, breaks into a foamed lace, a fragile flower spreading across the sand and shore, a coverlet for this bared flesh of land, wet glossy shiny sun-lit wet, yet drying beneath our gaze, leaving the infinitely-tiny grains of sand’s dew to glisten, to sparkle. III No pathways here after the entrance of footprints splayed down the slight dune through the ammophila down to the hard sand the littered stone. Only up and down across perhaps to the sea - from the sea. Otherwise it’s up: to sunward windward, out out along the jigged line of surf meeting sand, a self-similarity, a symmetry breaking on the shore.

*you are in the mist, a grey mist a beautiful coverlet to the eyes of dawn you’re standing there, in the mist all the eyelids fall from lunar spark and come to drape on my beige undoing of graceful bassoon echoes* in this darkened window frame, I look out and the beat of life pumps on in the veins of foliage friends *in the mist, all cities are alive in muffled sounds and reaching sighs why give up so soon? why give up.. at all?* S T – 4 feb 14

Oh! the title is--oh my! Vaguely reminiscent of Keat's sonnet...."O solitude, if I must with thee dwell/"[https://www.bartleby.com/126/20.html] (sonnet #MMMMMMMCDXXXVI) Watch yellow rags just flutter on boughs thence Sae black with rain; the naked trees' detail Now haunted by sheer mists look ghastly, pale White's shroud their coverlet, Death's kiss from hence Upon the massy groves as reds tinge whence; As if some painter's brush splashed aught t'avail In careless fashion, orange glares through the veil, And my soul'd cherish that mystique's vague sense. I'd love to wander through this fog as twere, Just where none else dare tread, as if what'd woo Is ghostly spirits I'd commune with, poor Though that suggestion is.  But that won't do, Of course.  Ergo, I watch, nor have a minute fer All that, to dream or be, just pass on through. 08Oct18b

O Silence! I Have Naught to Say
Life, I stand on your bank’s edge, frightened of a slip that might bring a struggle I could not win. You flow by with no effort. I envy you. You swirl as if some magic occurs within your darkest green ― the colour of the elm’s fullness during twilight. You flow forever, past. I have little to offer but three silver coins and my hope that you will accept them with my anguished prayers. Let them sink through your swiftness to your stillness. Let them join others’ gifts to clothe your bed in a radiant coverlet you have earned.

Anu, Danu, Donau, Danube
A walk back home, Mother, older in number, but perfection and love retained. Father, his usual stringent posture arched to form a hug. Sister, her voice resounding happiness, Translating into dancing, singing, yelling. Me? Teary eyed. Tears of happiness. A walk back alone, Into my cerulean room, The azure curtains still hang, Wrinkled from THE night’s frustration. On the cobalt coverlet still lay, Tear stains which narrate me a forgotten story. Hidden inside my teal cupboard, I find lost love’s fake promises. Me? Teary eyed. Tears of blues. A walk in dreams, At crossroads, I meet an angel. He asks me to make a wish. A Cover-Up
IF you have revisited the town, thin Shade, Whether to look upon your monument (I wonder if the builder has been paid) Or happier-thoughted when the day is spent To drink of that salt breath out of the sea When grey gulls flit about instead of men, And the gaunt houses put on majesty: Let these content you and be gone again; For they are at their old tricks yet. A man Of your own passionate serving kind who had brought In his full hands what, had they only known, Had given their children's children loftier thought, Sweeter emotion, working in their veins Like gentle blood, has been driven from the place, And instilt heaped upon him for his pains, And for his open-handedness, disgrace; Your enemy, an old fotil mouth, had set The pack upon him. Go, unquiet wanderer, And gather the Glasnevin coverlet About your head till the dust stops your ear, The time for you to taste of that Salt breath And listen at the corners has not come; You had enough of sorrow before death -- Away, away! “The Weight of the Untold” (Pradip) <•> 6:55am: Jan 2 nine twenty twenty five (read the comments first) enveloped by the early mix of morning’s hangover of dark blue gray, window glints of a sun playing peekaboo over the yet there (!) Manhattan skyline, the utter  “ness” of the stilled, unwritten, unstirred, uncolored dim of medium shadowy light, the quietude is an actual thing, a warming coverlet of cozy peace am I not forcibly compelled to write of the weight of white spaces, Pradip pokes my curious anxiety, as I question my own words, that he tosses back to me, so so oft he ****** the cells of my fingertips to peek, to bleed, then peck letters from within, to comprehend my museum artifacts of words, the weight of their panoply of mystery How, how can the white weight of our seemingly empty spaces tween words, carry this burden on its, bony shoulders, can’t we just let them be, like the breaths exhaled, the disappearing exhaust of being human, is it necessary to carry knowing knowledge, of what needs no body, isn’t the inexplicable better left unimagined, there be so much tolling troubles, let them be left masked, they’ll appear as embodied black letters, of-when, their discord is accorded their moment of due…no  more need to succumb prematurely to this onerous lighter than air pressurized crushing atmosphere of reused oxygen did I awake just to prove my existence, to offer up this combination of vocabulary of wondering, one more explication of the unknowns that are visible to the naked eyes, big, hard, factuals better left alone…and suddenly the morning light has arrived, dear god,it will be a sun-filled sky, and that weight, is modestly eased, never fully erased, but you know, I know, most of its occupants even those who won’t show their faces And perhaps they should remain hidden in the white spaces between the letters and the words, u.  n.  t.  o.  l.  d.

On the Embarcadero, winds carry clubbers' words to me: sound of a satyr's desperation: *maybe she'll look at me. Maybe even with pleasure and not repulsion*: the silent plea of devil-may-cry men --- all blood and lusts, more beasts than heart. Some swing blunt cutlasses that never cleave, sip hypnotic wine from offering hands, unknown beneath a coverlet. Others dance into the lacuna of their lives: decade(s) of searching, yearning, yoked like juments, under the mortal whip: sad boys in need of love;                                     infatuation;                                                   amity;                                                         acquaintance;                                                                            lust;                                                                               pleasure;                                                                                           a look: anything.

On the Embarcadero
These special summer afternoons have no time markers, no human dividers, no watches watching or clocks clocking, just grins and smiles, divining the divide, painting lovely the one canyon of humanity and nature attending to each other These summer afternoons have no time markers, but drift perfectly sequentially from sun to nap to black striped grilled franks, and red watermelon, orange cantaloupe, cold coronas, and desserts of indeterminate beach walks, and quiet talks These summer afternoons are as close as I remember, what it was like to be seven or eight, years of age, knowing only carefree summer months that were carelessly treasured, thinking there is always another, looking forward to tomorrow to do nothing in exactly, happily, the same way innocently I am an adult and that means, cares are ever present, ever fair or fear not,, they lurk and attack the goalie, with noisy or subtle unrelenting attacks but as I overlook the waters, scenario soul gentling me under the cooling coverlet of the perfect breeze and what lurks is the moment the eyes and heart are fulfilled, satisfied by what they see The bay, dotted with the boat traffic not too much, but just interesting, a right tiny armada to entertain, all of us, inattentively observing the submerging descent of summer daytime friends, and I think of you only, at this perfect second and I am besotted with grief and guilt why can I not grant you the moment, that I desperate wish to share my arm is not, not, careless slung, but grasping firm with squeezes tight, finger under chin chucking, come friend be with me, and for just this moment your anti-toil tool here, your plight beyond my comprehension, though I live a life on the unknown edge, what matters is the relativity of us, and I relate to your weariness, I weep with desperate knowledge transporting you here is still an impossibility though my eyes see glory, though my heart cannot refuse the scene's peace invading me, it is not fair, it is not fair and I want you to have this more than me so I can keep it too until then it is a glaze, surfacing the coating, that is me but substance is untouched until this guilt morphs into a shared pleasure

It is in, the how, not the why, the where, or, the when, no, no, it Is the how, that provisions and provides all the answers that any lover needs, for In the how, one revels, but also, unbeknownst, unwillingly, reveals what one's heart wishes to secret, and conceals and with The single stroke of a single finger, lightly across thy cheek, raising sky colors upon thy skin's patina and, How commences the matina, with petals of white cloud roses, blushing anew in your cheeks, loveliest of failed cover ups, laughing, I airbrush your almost, invisible tears away, residue of melodramas of troubled sleep, stilled and stolen, mine, to pacify, keep, tranquilized in my breast It, Is In, The How, What, You Are Thinking. What vincible arrogance humans possess when we pray, we hope, knowing that we are infidels, hoping to mislead the eyes that glance upon us You give up the shadows painted for me when filtered beams, rays of a, and of...kind, lance shield of densest lead, lain upon the chest to cloak the tremors of volcanic hearts, the eyes of hurricane thoughts, containers of need that Are so full of oh so many questions, yet, singularly resolved, with the answer of a single stroke, of a single finger, lightly across thy cheek, knowingly full well you are Thinking there is no exit, no right of way to negate the sum of what we let to ail us, O disbeliever, how simple be, for all, all of It, Is In, The How, What, You Are Thinking, I soften and modulate, your conflicted complexion, with the answer of a single stroke, of a single finger, lightly across thy cheek, all that is mine, to encapsulate, recharge, refill thy vessel with Bocelli tones of passioned, gloried harmony Worry not if my eyesight dims, be unconcerned if my hearing, my voices wearies and weakens, for all the answers we shall ever need remain, contained in a single stroke, of a single finger, lightly across thy cheek, and this is how I know now, and forever more, what you are thinking As long as skin is the coverlet o'er the bell jar of mind n' heart, as long oxygen defies gravity, I will know how, unveil, open secret chambers, now and forever more, what you are thinking

On snowy days, on wintry nights, the snowflakes shine like suns, and the stars, are coldly bright. The frost creeps over broken stones, and around the trunks of trees. The birds are all asleep now, the bears have sought their den, and absent from the creaking branches, the squirrels chattering speech. And though many lie sleeping, awaiting the life of spring, still some lie, frosted, the worms will wait till spring. Deep within the wintry woods, a cabin sits, still and quiet, no light within. The snow covers the door, and the walls are buried 'neath glittering shroud of creeping frost, while all around the trees whisper sadly to the moaning call of frosty wind. Against one such sits a man alone. Black his flesh, his eyes shriveled, his hands claws that reach, vainly, towards departed life. The wind howls through bare, black trees, and shifts the coverlet of snow that smothers the land, the green forgotten, 'neath shroud of white.

The World in Winter
How much do I love you? When you are asleep in our bed, Takes ten minutes for me to Slide inside, you to undisturb, you would, Laugh at my pantomime, my Charlie Chaplin ballet, If you were to accidentally awake. When your dreams disturbing, Groans and shrieks, moans and mumbles, I greet you when your eyes final-fix upon me, With no questions, only kisses for both, And a new poem for you on top of our coverlet. I love you resting me, when you, beside me do rest, Then, together, we are always at our best. I, your soldier, woodpeckers, deer, sent on their way, Today, five geese invaders, ahonking, dispatched, Lest my woman's dreams become enmeshed. How many compositions have I written, Rhythm and rhymed to your contented breathing? Amazing grace that every day when we are on Our island redoubt, there is no doubt. There is us, always us, and for each restful breath, Encased is a new and different way, To answer this question that I pose to myself. Tho first of many interrogatories that will pass from my heart, Yet, when mine eyes open to see the sun of your blonde hair. I have only answers, no questions, no doubts. September 1st, 2013
