I thought if I could swallow the stars I’d be as beautiful as the evening sky I tried one night    with fireflies They burned my throat Their legs striking at soft flesh But my skin did not glow No moon crawled from my eye sockets I was left with corpses in my stomach I soon learned I would only ever be A cemetery

Cemetery
Love, the world Suddenly turns, turns color. The streetlight Splits through the rat's tail Pods of the laburnum at nine in the morning. It is the Arctic, This little black Circle, with its tawn silk grasses - babies hair. There is a green in the air, Soft, delectable. It cushions me lovingly. I am flushed and warm. I think I may be enormous, I am so stupidly happy, My Wellingtons Squelching and squelching through the beautiful red. This is my property. Two times a day I pace it, sniffing The barbarous holly with its viridian Scallops, pure iron, And the wall of the odd corpses. I love them. I love them like history. The apples are golden, Imagine it ---- My seventy trees Holding their gold-ruddy ***** In a thick gray death-soup, Their million Gold leaves metal and breathless. O love, O celibate. Nobody but me Walks the waist high wet. The irreplaceable Golds bleed and deepen, the mouths of Thermopylae.

Letter In November
death wants more death, and its webs are full: I remember my father's garage, how child-like I would brush the corpses of flies from the windows they thought were escape- their sticky, ugly, vibrant bodies shouting like dumb crazy dogs against the glass only to spin and flit in that second larger than hell or heaven onto the edge of the ledge, and then the spider from his dank hole nervous and exposed the puff of body swelling hanging there not really quite knowing, and then knowing- something sending it down its string, the wet web, toward the weak shield of buzzing, the pulsing; a last desperate moving hair-leg there against the glass there alive in the sun, spun in white; and almost like love: the closing over, the first hushed spider-sucking: filling its sack upon this thing that lived; crouching there upon its back drawing its certain blood as the world goes by outside and my temples scream and I hurl the broom against them: the spider dull with spider-anger still thinking of its prey and waving an amazed broken leg; the fly very still, a ***** speck stranded to straw; I shake the killer loose and he walks lame and peeved towards some dark corner but I intercept his dawdling his crawling like some broken hero, and the straws smash his legs now waving above his head and looking looking for the enemy and somewhat valiant, dying without apparent pain simply crawling backward piece by piece leaving nothing there until at last the red gut sack splashes its secrets, and I run child-like with God's anger a step behind, back to simple sunlight, wondering as the world goes by with curled smile if anyone else saw or sensed my crime

Death Wants More Death

we were just small children so we didn’t quite understand what father meant when he said “mother is sad” we continued our games and make believe stories and waited for mother to be happy and when we were young, sad just meant someone stepped on your picture or they ruined your sand castle and in 2 seconds it was over the deeper I fall into my depression I find my mother I find her ghouls and her ghosts her corpses I find her dark eyes in my dark eyes every time I look in the mirror and I find her hatred for everything, including me I find new ways to torture myself my mother “you have your mothers eyes” we also have the same disease the only difference is, her demons won mine don’t stand a chance

mother is sad
There are cemeteries that are lonely, graves full of bones that do not make a sound, the heart moving through a tunnel, in it darkness, darkness, darkness, like a shipwreck we die going into ourselves, as though we were drowning inside our hearts, as though we lived falling out of the skin into the soul. And there are corpses, feet made of cold and sticky clay, death is inside the bones, like a barking where there are no dogs, coming out from bells somewhere, from graves somewhere, growing in the damp air like tears of rain. Sometimes I see alone coffins under sail, embarking with the pale dead, with women that have dead hair, with bakers who are as white as angels, and pensive young girls married to notary publics, caskets sailing up the vertical river of the dead, the river of dark purple, moving upstream with sails filled out by the sound of death, filled by the sound of death which is silence. Death arrives among all that sound like a shoe with no foot in it, like a suit with no man in it, comes and knocks, using a ring with no stone in it, with no finger in it, comes and shouts with no mouth, with no tongue, with no throat. Nevertheless its steps can be heard and its clothing makes a hushed sound, like a tree. I'm not sure, I understand only a little, I can hardly see, but it seems to me that its singing has the color of damp violets, of violets that are at home in the earth, because the face of death is green, and the look death gives is green, with the penetrating dampness of a violet leaf and the somber color of embittered winter. But death also goes through the world dressed as a broom, lapping the floor, looking for dead bodies, death is inside the broom, the broom is the tongue of death looking for corpses, it is the needle of death looking for thread. Death is inside the folding cots: it spends its life sleeping on the slow mattresses, in the black blankets, and suddenly breathes out: it blows out a mournful sound that swells the sheets, and the beds go sailing toward a port where death is waiting, dressed like an admiral.

dead bodies floating in our oceans from the Asian Pacific to the Mediterranean crumpled corpses lying on our beaches thousands drowned unknown overcrowded detention centers not unlike concentration camps behind barbed wires guarded by police and snarling dogs nobody feels responsible not  those who started wars destroyed whole cities made millions homeless and into refugees not those who take advantage of the chaos for their own gain abusing the names of their gods or some ancient figurehead to excuse their atrocities and greed not those who live in comfortable homes and wish the desperate crowds would just stay on the TV screen and not come close nor those who pretend to be the guardians of our great humanitarian heritage but show no backbone against nationalist fanatics it is the shame of the world to sit and talk and watch and not do enough those who turn away the needy and homeless could also quite suddenly lose their homes forced to rely on the kindness of strangers

THE SHAME OF THE WORLD (NOTHING has really changed since I wrote this poem on Sept. 6, 2015!!)
the ***** ghost comes to those who have suffered long the agony of torrid loves hunger he is a savior that needs to be saved a glittering pageant of ****** despair his color sapphire a weeping shell a dark cloud of smoldering ash that never burns out he is heat and light he can smell the musk between your legs taste tears of want as if they are his own his **** bursting like trees bludgeon hard, substanceless no you can't put your finger on it your heart a weeping furnace your parched mouth dire is his the emptiness between your legs is his he comes to you a vacant smudge then, white attendant with black eyed gems be not afraid he was lost in life a moralist who could not find Jacobs ladder nor free him self of false boundaries set upon him by the good people their minds spider bites and corpses who imagined a god who loved them by decrees of thou shalt not not not and did not know that flesh needs flesh and only human love could save him then to the grave, just a ***** ghost theory to the living

***** Ghost Theory
I. Neptune’s Theater A rock spins through the universal tumbler and its warm blue pools calcify as turquoise Neptune in his cloudy blue bath bath builds a lace castle with his fingertips Sculpts a submerged eden of crimson and emerald where painted parrots chat up cardinals butterfly and angel fry sway with wave pulse and foliated coral fingers beckon from arched windows. Neptune’s children are flat and bright, spined and notched free yet entangled in lace mesh ecosystem beneath an array of bioluminescent stars as a gangly pretender watches and blows bubbles. II. Sapien Siege The hot acidic hand of death grasps the mesh rends and tangles the ecosystem shattered reef’s loosed children scream beneath planet’s stars. Butterflies impaled cyanide-swooning damsels mesh-tangled angels hauled heavenward coral to potash, corpses to coal. The pretender to the throne blinks rubs blurry lenses, kicks plastic fins and moves on to the next show Unseeing and unaware of the luminous filament in his wake. Self-appointed divinity, deus ex machina. ******************************************************************************************* Ann says: All of the animal and human characters in this poem (except Neptune and The Pretender) are named after coral reef fish. Coral reefs, one of the most diverse ecosystems, are expected to be largely extinct within one human generation. Deus ex machina is Latin for “God from the machine.” Copyright 2013 by Ann Marcaida.

Children of the Reef
We wandered our gazes to the semidarkness Illuminated above our sight. Looking at the allurement that were now empty caskets hanging on tombstones of lights, clinging to there eventual demise. Lying on the earth,                              we felt at peace. Knowing we were one day to be woven within its fabric, empty shells of pebbles lost in a lake of timeless moments. We would be seashells on its shores gently corroding with each wave. till we were grains of eternity variations of us everywhere. We Stared At The Corpses Of Stars
The evolution of art never halts Once we began dancing around fire Our feet couldn't stop A place in our lives Where our subpar seeds Could be seen as glowing trees That's the way I feel about my poetry It reminds me a lot of me I reread it and rewrite it so often By the end it seems unoriginal and plain And all I can hope Is the themes and ideas that were the inspirational genesis Remain intact Art walks a tightrope over the most unpredictable factor The audience They are the other half of art Their power cannot be overstated And as time progresses Their power grows And the importance of art always extends an equal distance But the stronger art becomes The more it asks of it's audience In many cases The audience is not ready to take the call This is one of those times Here at the current pinnacle of art Surfing the web A wonderful chance as Art is a reflection of people and society The Internet is people and society But just as we listen to songs To decide what concert to go to Or watch trailers To decide what movie to see We like what we like And put blinders on to find it Like moths to fire We could do amazing things If we could harness the potential Of our collective conscious But the threat of losing our individuality Is too great for us Unable to accept Our individuality is always in the context of our cosmic existence We are part of something greater And we can't escape that Even in death We feed what lies beneath The memory of our lives Shrinks to obscurity The maggots that cover our corpses Flourish to maturity Everything this world creates is art And we are it's most complex creation Not necessarily the best We just have the most parts And the maggots that use our dead bodies for sustenance Were once the monsters that roamed this Earth They had no nationality Or political affiliations Or religion And they're still here Waiting to reclaim their throne Once "smarter" species seek suicide

Individuality

*all my life i held a dream of a woman i would love of course she would be alluring supple a charming countenance erudite, with an angelic face her body a muscular stretching willow arching her legs over head kissing her own curving soft feet a graceful contortionist in confetti colored sparkle pantyhose stretching towards me silken hair draping a perfect symmetry with spun sugar kisses wafting the scent of vanilla and candied vaporous breath lips like cherry lozenges but one never knows ones destiny i met her my girl destiny and except for a faint look of languor and ruin with a tinge of withering she was without doubt unbearably titillating with razor-thin blackened lips mascara slits for eyes hair pulled straight back jet black jelled like hardened licorice with satanic blood rivulets and pitch fork tattooed **** a vice of lechery a malefaction of moral turpitude her *** scarred from orgiastic beatings her **** became like a large wrinkly mouth resembling the face of a bullfrog from pleasuring  herself with tableware cutlery her soul a broken creel suffering bouts of anxiety like a weeping moon having  been institutionalized in Mother Marys Hell House from a ghastly bout of parricide her father, a hobbling gloomish troll while the dark veins of mother ran through her soul leaving little choice but to dispatch the parents abandoning their corpses in the kitchen like strewn litter turned out just my kinda girl d e s t i n y

MY GIRL DESTINY
Darkness, it falls like a massive leaden shroud Over this quiet valley as the dusk  infects the sky Pleasant faces fade into the shadows of the night As the demons of the dead and dreaming come on out to play Howling at the moon Swarming through the streets Lurking in the shadows On this night of Halloween Carve the faces, light the candles Offerings must be made In the cold October moonlight To the Phantoms of Samhain If you fail If these ghouls are not appeased You will be... Taken by the spirits of the dead!!! The Tempter's Chosen And kin to the Grim Reaper Children of the Darkest Night Steal mortal souls to feast on Ghastly transformations Amidst accursed corpses We are possessed by the evil of tonight's demonic forces! Carve the faces, light the candles Offerings must be made In the cold October moonlight To the Phantoms of Samhain If you fail If these ghouls are not appeased You will be... Taken by the spirits of the dead!!! By the light of the orange moon In the dark of the purple night We linger in these shadows And wait there, until the time is right... On this night of Halloween We roam your city streets And among the masks of plastic We can finally be free So carve those faces, light your candles Offerings still must be made In the cold October moonlight To us Phantoms of Samhain And if you do not heed these words And refuse these simple deeds Well then, my friend You will be, Taken by the spirits of the dead! Attenuation
in 1992, a child is born and handed a gift. he opens the box labelled "life" and examines its contents. a blanket hand-stitched with hope, perseverance, and comfort draped over a teddy bear stuffed with fearful nightmares, and heartache. a blue jar labelled "sadness", containing fluttering butterflies symbolizing joy. a ticket for the rollercoaster he's finally tall enough to ride, with no warning of the endless ups and downs. that two-minute rush of adrenaline followed by hours of motion sickness. this child is now twenty six. he is staring at the empty box labelled "life" - at the worn-out blanket lying next to the teddy bear's stuffing - at the shards of blue glass and butterfly corpses - at the torn up carnival ticket. he regrets ever accepting this gift. - v.m

Half eaten corpses and the monster's still hungry. High, as well. Cast down, to the brim-stoned side of mind. Hannibal's House Of Cannibals are out, for a night on the town. An all you can eat pedestrian buffet. Is just a munch-munch-munch away.

Hannibal's House Of Cannibals.
On a misty city morning still resolved to early rising I came upon a heap of corpses They were child sacrifices made to satisfy the fancy of Christian capitalist and pagan and a jolly old fat man who lives at the North Pole They might have been growing tall in a field or on a hill drinking sunlight breathing love songs in answer to caress of wind But the silent pines didn't seem to mind their broken bodies one last gift filling my chest with fragrant air and longings for fields and hills on a misty city morning

A New Year's Walk
Distant learning courses in the heart Irrelevant actions have left us all apart Acquisitions decaying those stray minded people It's no longer a commonplace to feel peaceful Simultaneous occurrences have our mind in disarray Through our pasts they begin to replay All these calamitous activities brought through maleficent eyes Disintegrate what's left sending us in a fools paradise We reap to elope from these rigorous bearings we call home Only to find ourselves cast away into the unknown We strive to survive in a world full of abhorrence Being seen transparent just as worthless corpses Those few who prevail are not left without detriment They are forever severed a mental delinquent **Nevertheless our story lives on In this godforsaken marathon** -Joseph B Schneider

The Marathon Man
I walk the face of earth once more, a mindless puppet, my strings are torn. the creaky bones, the bad eyesight, yet the chance to turn wrong to right. wars-a-waging, old mans guilt, the worlds now on more then just a tilt. parents weeping, children slain, ****** thoughts, fear will reign. I look in the shadows, a creature did lurk, he whispered to me, hiding a smirk. "Thou shalt be killed if thee can't find, the demon lurking in thou mind." So off I ventured, to quench my thirst, of corpses piled with hearts-a-burst. And on that quest what did I see? The Wicked Path Of Destiny

The Wicked Path Of Destiny
The dictatorship of our state is profound in its mass propaganda, where the discernment of individuals seeps into an eternal chasm of self-sacrifice on the altar of political conformity. Let us actively withstand the passivity of our conventional hypocrisy as we engage with this ontological sleepwalk through sinister passageways of presumed social advancement. In our age of grandiose moralistic eclecticism where imperatives abound, I burn incense and contemplate the cosmopolitan artificiality which lavishes abundant gifts upon our self-opinion. Criminality is the result of discovery. So, oh thorn in my flesh, cover those rancid corpses by the veil of popularity, gain and pleasure. Subconscious social conditioning is the scourge of lustful appearance, don’t you think?

Ethical Cosmetics
How can my eyes hunger for tormentors bodies where in my soul can I find desires for sadists Eves threw on fitted coats of Marquis de Sade borrowed his manuals and added even more pages pierced the heart of a Dove defending his nest with lethal pins And in joyous indignities with devilment aplomp they reclined and crackled in wanton doltishness He thinks of and desires us and wants to make amor with us How can a heart marinated in love truely sincere a soul ready to die rather than any harm to Eves Be mother or sister or perchance even a stranger alas in utter ********** and grotesque situation dire Come undone with healthy pristine heart ripped to pieces hung drawn and quartered and sliced in tiny morsels Like fish baits for mice and minnows or hens clucking All at the hands of Sirens who worshipped in Satan's cravens How can a soul with only the spark of Salvation aglow where it once housed his heart and enduring humanity With brimful joy and devotions in fitting measures true as all Eves where to him nowt but sisters and earth angels Now his burning blood runs cold like rivelets in the Arctic their words ring hollow and smiles shows rapiers of snakes Nothing stirs desires for all Eves now seem and look like wicked corpses Delilahs' wrecking vengeance on Samsons in wickedness supreme [email protected] rights reserved

I Don't See You That Way Anymore.......
His nights are restless, endless dreams of young men climbing ladders. The ones who stop to fix their vests are left below, row after row there seems no end, distorted faces, silent screams through bottle bottom glass. Twenty winters wishing that the dream might finally end, he tilts his head and looks at God above his bed, a crucifix upon the wall, his Jesus hangs and bleeds for sins of lesser men but for him there is no comfort, he can't escape the scene of drifting death and flotsam, sailors drinking blood from swollen corpses, greedy in the eyes like the sharks that encircle them. When daylight comes still no relief, he sits among his salty sheets and chokes on waves of guilt. Deceit will always be his master, every day no different than the rest except, today he’s had enough, the dead, they will not cease their torment. Twenty winters waiting but the dead won’t go away. The boys who stopped to fix their vests The man with gaping wound in chest The burning wreckage going down The screams of those who soon would drown The oily water thick as mud The utter chaos, flesh and blood The rabid thirst he could not quench afloat in pools of human stench He goes outside and lies upon the grass, a Navy Colt revolver in one hand, a toy soldier in the other, he puts the gun against his head and pulls the trigger. have you ever sat and wondered about the putrid smell of corpses and what happens after this-- all types of magical forces? have you ever stood in line for hours waiting only to be insulted by cowards? I've often wondered in the morning over my donuts glazed how you can not talk to me for several days; but when you do it fits like a shoe, and now just what are we going to do? have you heard sad words whispered from a lover's lips, and if so, did it bring a tearful kiss or was it more like a lustful hiss?

*i was looking at an old and tattered black and white photo of my grandfather a man i never knew and wondered about his existence like a horizon of dissolution his soul enshrined in my own and like him and all creatures ultimately i remain defenseless against realities magnitude while my father loved me as a child he grew unkind over the years and we where set bitterly against one another other his tyranny and my disobedience as i gathered strategies craft by machinery of thought and festering gall he, the bully got bullied back by me and old age as we in tandem set fire to his sadistic golden age of disillusionment and here we are now the living and the dead still locked in a grudge a recurring spirit of revenge in a valley of tears before i myself join the ephemeral legions in a pile of stones and ashed corpses are we not a procession of long struggles and short pleasures a history of terrors and creatureness stooges bound by the wheel creation crucified by desire and the apathy of obliterations aftermath an archeology of death ruin upon ruins has God sinned against man or bestowed his grace mystified perfect and beautiful beyond measure yet to be discovered in an alternate reality?

HORIZON OF DISSOLUTION
We swallowed our tongues, fleshy caskets for our feelings buried in the cemetery of our guts Do you feel that turning in your stomach? What we left unspoken buried is rolling in its grave. My love, when it comes back to life as vengeful rotting corpses without spirit it will eat us alive from the inside out.

The bleeding has no bias From the Congo to Dallas The days of waiting, the Fever-soar The African corpses were out Of view, from the World’s eyes If a sneeze can defile Ebola can ride airplanes Traverse Seas, all through Your plastic gloves, your pores Contagious still with death Your fear may taste the curse A thousand dead more, a common ache The bleeding has no bias Jesus will not bring you back from the Dead We have to walk through Hell alone They say, I have no more words The bleeding has no bias No funding, on protocol that works The virus rages on, splitting old scars Of what it means to be from the Old continent, of what it means to be black And the coughing up of more blood Where paranoia and fear are conditions As common as kindness and hospitality here The panic of believing a silent enemy Can catch you without you knowing These are the days of waiting These are when the numbers soar.
