Unbiased at least he was when he arrived on his mission, Having never set eyes on the land he was called to partition Between two peoples fanatically at odds, With their different diets and incompatible gods. "Time," they had briefed him in London, "is short. It's too late For mutual reconciliation or rational debate: The only solution now lies in separation. The Viceroy thinks, as you will see from his letter, That the less you are seen in his company the better, So we've arranged to provide you with other accommodation. We can give you four judges, two Moslem and two Hindu, To consult with, but the final decision must rest with you." Shut up in a lonely mansion, with police night and day Patrolling the gardens to keep the assassins away, He got down to work, to the task of settling the fate Of millions. The maps at his disposal were out of date And the Census Returns almost certainly incorrect, But there was no time to check them, no time to inspect Contested areas. The weather was frightfully hot, And a bout of dysentery kept him constantly on the trot, But in seven weeks it was done, the frontiers decided, A continent for better or worse divided. The next day he sailed for England, where he could quickly forget The case, as a good lawyer must. Return he would not, Afraid, as he told his Club, that he might get shot.

Strange strings of thought. Thoughts of loyalty and love, thoughts of friendship and of ambition and my condition; thoughts of submission of subtraction and addition. Unravel the secret of the continent, oh how you are persistent. The road uncoils and I uncoil down the pavement. Off i go. Twisted days of golden glow. Off I go, into the black hole of the road.

Now I ask you to join me Now you celebrate Not being me. Not being you Only Us for the great UN load! DIS arm! EN large! OUT side! Some steps I will take Be my guest Pull your anchor Out of the lake We're In the room In the building In the crowded city In the country with thousands of cities The country shares the continent with an enemy nation The two rivals are carried round and round by the Earth's endless rotation The Earth obeys the master’s magnetic line, burning since uncountable clock time The sun is blind to his insignificance too, ignoring billions of other star mates, it can’t see through Immeasurable it seems, magnifying! All of them such tiny little parts in one of Miss Milky’s arms Some light years away there they are: Pinwheel, Cartwheel, Black Eye, Andromeda and Cigar Unmeasurable it seems, humongous! All of them such a fading little part of the cosmos There you are Floating from a distance Feel the empty ground Drink from the fountain of existence Still blind to insignificance? Still convinced about the rightness of imposed beliefs? Still judging others’ defects according to our pretentious and vain mind? Still punching away the different, protecting the mold? Still reinforcing illusory antagonism and insignia? Still seeing only two sides? Still holding to the pride? Still In the ******* room Am I? Are you? Let's try it again

Hey Human! I am your Sibling. Queen bee wings are Ripped, bee niblings are Smoked For Your Honey Sweet. Hey human! Listen your Sibling’s Buzz. Tiger lost bones for Medicine, Fox lost fur for Fashion, Sharks lost fins for Soup. Hey human! Do Not Butcher Siblings. Simba’s life is not your Trophy, Jumbo’s tusks are not Decors, Helmets of Hornbills are not jewels. Hey human! Do Not Reap Siblings. Emperors of ice continent lost land, Economics is making Amazon less, Logging makes Orangutans homeless. Hey human! Do Not Invade Siblings. Warm oceans bleach corals, Water depleted in cities, We ingest plastic regularly. Hey human! Do Not Desert the Earth. Overfishing is holocaust of aquatic life, Livestock levitates toxic emissions. Hey human! Do Not Prey on Siblings. Lichens stunned by pollution, Symbionts are disintegrating, Biodiversity is declining. Hey human! Be Together with Siblings. Hey Human! We are Offsprings of Mother Nature. Monera, Animalia, Fungi, Plantae, Protista all have common roots. We are branches of the one Phylogenetic Tree rooting Common Ancestry unto LUCA. Hey Human! We are Siblings. Hey Human! Recall your Siblings. Hey Human! Revive your Siblings.

The Forgotten Sibling
Fingers on the rails can feel The pulse of steel and diesel engines, The muscle and sinew of a continent. Ten thousand horses throb the air And bear down on a mile of freight. It rolls by like thunder Under a clear blue sky, stirs the soul With memories of lonely whistles In the night, a desert wind, mystery lights; When little fingers at the open window First felt the pulse of steel and diesel, A few million miles ago.

Train Soul
Lions are majestic Or, I was told so Once they were majestic Rampant beasts in far-flung savannas Mythic lords of the dark continent I didn't hear the lion roar, not even once Everyone was disappointed Even our pet cat wasn't so lazy What a joke the lion is! Sleepy from doing nothing Growing fat behind it's bars A million fingers pointing at it Waiting for the lion's pride They all laugh, and the lion waits for dinner

#teamara As in the nub of the remains of crayola crayon that’s been used to color in so many smiling cartoon suns on a piece of paper- Her favorite color is yellow. And I don’t mean a wimpy *** pastel yellow or sometimes a pale yellow I mean her favorite color is bright *** yellow. Like Pikachu yellow. Like she’s almost nineteen but she’s still willing to play Gameboy Pokemon yellow. There’s something innocent yet corny kind of yellow about her. She’s beautiful like yellow jirasol petals She’s intricate as yellow thread woven in a Rasta Dom She’s yellow like gold and Africa She’s sweet like pineapples and delicate like daffodils I still don’t know why her favorite color is yellow Maybe it has to do with her fascination of Asian men… I mean! ...with the continent of Asia She thinks she’s more like pink Japanese cherry blossom trees in the summer But I know she’s truly yellow petals on Paolo Verde trees blowing in the wind spreading around Tucson A metaphor for her love She’s yellow like the color in the middle of my pride rainbow- She supports me She’s yellow like the big painted sun at the hospital with a big grin I wonder why nobody smiles at hospitals The place where life is easily given as taken Where we are reminded that our health is sometimes taken for granted Other than that great big yellow sun She is the only that radiates yellow and smiles In waiting rooms, she seems like she’s the calmest Even though she’s the only one going through surgery She’s so beautiful on the inside her body can’t even take it She doesn’t deserve scions or scalpels to even be considered touching her bronze skin I wish instead they would strip down the color yellow from my life And give it to her to make her smile so bright that even word “cancer” would cease to exist But still. Even through pain and hardships She still smiles. Not only is she yellow when she’s happy She tends to radiate yellow even when she’s gloomy When I’m upset, her aura has way of rubbing off on mine And I get insight to why her favorite color is yellow *** she’s the kind of yellow that represents strength She’s yellow like tall forts made from gold bars She’s yellow like flames that roll of her tongue when she spits fire She’s yellow like a crayola-crayon… except she can’t be broken From her, I’m learning That even when you’re hurting You can still shine bright like your favorite color.

Let us go, Oedipus, let me walk you 'Twixt towers reaching to heaven, Where women are charged to be patient and perfect. You will not stay upon your leash. We walk through Mandalay, not Paris, Where the women have no face. 'Tis but a siren of emergency That sings to me. What worth I am to you, Oedipus, What worth am I to them? When the footman holds my coat, and snickers, What worth am I to them? Every man is a piece of the continent! She may love me for the dangers I have passed, And I her that she did pity them, But she cannot, now and forever. And while the sun excludes me, I am not them and they not I, And the waters do not glisten, She is their chattel and not mine. I gaze upon her ornate face and sing, Her eyes are pools of wonder that see me, and swing away. I am older, I have sense, Like Oedipus my King, But when I see her ornate face I very nearly sing. After many lonely nights In shirtsleeves and not silk, I went to her, and said: Here, take this silver, for my milk. And she may have loved me once But for my thought and sense, I'm but a bumblebee today - I left at some expense.

Ebola, coming from the Continent of our roots The WHO is exhausted by your contagion Nurses are leaving their posts, doctors are dying What can contain exponential growth? Not the money and debts of this bankrupt America We print more money and expect The world to stay the same, but it won’t Not after you Ebola, a profit mechanism Vaccines, for each strain and mutation? Ebola, your incubation period is too long Your death-conformity is too high How can you possibly be natural? Man-made, racially biased, targeting The weak, the poor, the masses Ebola, a colonial rampage in your DNA I call your bluff, genocide, Genocide! Obama doesn’t mind Ebola, flights stay open New epicenters for outbreaks arrive The pundits say it’s already too late Fluids or air-droplets, both, who is to say? The CDC seems strangely apathetic The UN is oddly apologetic Ebola, are you ready to decimate The white man, as you have the black?

The Heart is the Capital of the Mind—
Goddess of virility suckles me to ****** Her legs stiffen… to acute angles. Toes, ballerina firm make her body—                          levitate from the bed. A smile reveals…fangs the tips of which           are barely…touching                    my ear. The lizard tongue hisses in ecstasy revealing ancient—spiritual…bliss mystics could only            speculate of. Her anaconda legs wrap—         around my back as her fingernails            embed into          my            spine.    When I yank Her hair                     Her             eyes Scream                   inside                out. Our bodies— Swimming             in An ocean      of         ravenous                   Liquids pulsating from       our pores. Sopping hair clings           to our        foreheads         we suddenly realize—                  A new shape is            invented.       We make a sound         so         primal inside each other’s mouth as her jaws snap down to my neck— both bodies rigor-mortis stiffen        as the mountains collapse around us and        the   sky is ripped open      as a tsunami billows down into a wave of exhaustion. The wind cradles us, Back to the earth     We split, Admiring a new continent We created.       Our limp bodies— numb from the velocity and suggestions resign to the crater we call a bed. We smile, simultaneously, looking past our brains, realizing… in         this        moment we, are one.

Good morning From Africa
Wake Up Wretched World, I assert my Indigenous heritage I self identify With the ancestors of my continent Identity afraid to articulate Culture, unknowingly belonging to me Cycle of shame now shattered Product of love, hatred, lust, and desire europeans plundering my mother Latin America In chaos and violence, my skin's pigment Has been engineered through the mestizaje Of my Indigenous forefathers How could I not forget my lineage When the historical legacy of modernization Has been to massacre the consciousness Of where my people really come from Erasing indigenous pride Making Paisano and Indio Synonymous with poverty and alienation Insulting the humbleness State of hunger you've left us in Original lineage within me disturbed So you push me to ambiguity and embarrassment Not white, not indigenous? Pure indigenous brothers and sisters silenced Not an exploitable consumerist market, not in your campaigns Not benefactors of your philanthropic development tactics Bodies too costly to abuse, no reason to bring them Into the neoliberal multinational corporate circuit Constantly driving them off productive land Because they choose to assert their identity Live in collective communes, not owing you nothing Waiting for them to make barren lands productive So you can take those lands too Not capturing an obscure history, these are not colonial times This is the legacy of the european presence entering mother Latin America 21st century still defiling Indigenous cultures to civilize and modernize

They set off from white rocks, red geraniums, blue tile, and let the green sea lift and drop their ships far above the white foam waves. The stony islands that were home were swallowed in minutes by the hungry Atlantic but they hunted the big fish, the giant whales  with human eyes who rolled and sang and swam in oceans a continent away. They came from Sao Jorge, Sao Miguel Faial, Pico, Terceira, Horta - Nine island emeralds set in a black volcanic chain, neither of the old country nor the new: Halfway there and halfway gone - secret jewels of the Portuguese sailors. They sailed into unknown waters, south around tropical shores where dragons smoked and writhed on the rocks and birds with brilliant red and yellow plumage rose in clouds around their heads. Then north, and north, north again to colder waters where sea lions barked and lunged at the strange massive wooden beast that coursed the waters, strung with brown bodies swaying on the lines and cursing the sails. North still they swept casting contemptuous eyes on the cheap turquoise waters and monstrous slow turtles of the Sea of Cortez. Coming up from the desert, past the palms and the yucca, the Joshua tree and Spanish daggers, they chased their smooth grey prey, riding the vast Pacific on their wooden island, herding the leviathans onto their spears, adventurers with an audience of only gulls and sky and seal. Until they sailed too close one day to a rock-strewn shoreline and saw the golden hills. Gnarled oaks like grandmothers from home with orange poppy jewels at their feet, missions strung like beads in a ruby marked rosary. The boats slowed, ****** in by a Scylla of soil rich and brown and loamy waiting to be seeded with grapes and apricots peaches, avocados, lettuce, alfalfa, fertile and heavy with sweet promise. And the whales sang and the lions barked and the gulls cried but the sailors were entranced, encharmed, ensorcelled. The treacherous sea, the mysterious deep, the stony jewels of home, called and wept and waited in vain for the sailors   - beached and grounded - cutting not waves but earth, tracking seasons not whales, seduced by dirt.

i met a boy once with bluebells for eyes a cold blue sparkling in his sockets a cancer toyed with between his fingers truth in his want but a false fidelity manner like a court joker and name fitting of an aristocrat were you embarrassed of me too you were so prone to hiding things i flowered as brightly as you we spent such short time together growing at a slow pace of course i made it a tall tale cherry lipstick across his face like an explorer flagging the wonder of a new continent like a killer especially with blood staining their fingernails unable to hide their crime and their cruelty but i guess that was foreshadowing

The day I opened a Bible was a tale of two cities, The best and the worst of times, I could no longer lay back and leave the sand in my hourglass, watch the days of my life drift, while logans lurk, wolverine around the brook in the forest, looking to claw the hope away, make a ridge between the family I claimed to love. There seems to be harmony in passions, But not even Timmy knows which spell Tabitha will cast to cause more division. The continent of the canine always barking with it's mouth open, Feed me, We cry, now we are fat with corruption, preying on the piety of poverty, prophiting leviathans, the cultish land with a superstition, fearful never able to hear the mission. We hold fast but not to the word, starving ourselves from understanding, traditions trump truth, as we defecate more dangerous nonsense into our ear holes, perhaps we're better off, we have some peace and food, we don't have the rat race, maybe I've been too sheltered, failing to truly discern the state of the land that houses me. I couldn't even see that my house was burning but it was cool if  it was watered down by a firetruck . I used to think that every African knows Jesus. Sometimes I act like I don't. -Kanyanta

RIVERS MAKES ME QUIVER Youthful mind left wandering just feeling the wetness from yards into the curbs Ripples running curbside over toes, forming those first streams for a meandering mind Clouds collecting power, mists collecting, forming Drop by drop rains flowing into their reserves   High mountain lakes reflecting their passion, partitioned by beavers to make their own pond   Broken into brooks flowing faster downward into streams, cool and clear their taste like sweet liqueurs Beauty not confined to a torrent but gifted with greenery and wildlife ,flowers that make the forests more confident Trickles forming into cascades downward making outpourings & overflows waterfalls forced through the fissures Gravity needs spaces we watch as it heightens then widens, making it's way through the continent quickly becoming most prominent Admire her beauty but reap her rewards, wet bounty to feed the fields, food for fishes ,generations receive her treasures Canoeists, kayakers or legendary steamboat captains are fond of their flowing, boys wondering where she will go ,knowing our tears of joy will flow to the sea should be our greatest compliment. RIVERS MAKES ME QUIVER
Passed you in the hall today It was good seeing you smile Why don't you ever stop? So we can chat for awhile. Always been there for me Each time I needed to vent Lately it feels like I'm trapped On a seperate continent. What happened to how we were? Secrets we used to share? Silence settled in somehow Now it's coursing through the air. Left wondering what went wrong Did I change too much for your mind to take? Bet you're tired of helping me Bounce back from every mistake. Guess I was choosing roads Guiding away from your direction I was misled along the path I lost all your affection. Two different people now Feel your disappointed gaze Watch me walk away from you I recede into the maze You are immersed in happiness Unaware of our lives drifting apart I am wishing that things could be Like they were at the start. I long to feel close again If only we could go back Even with a time machine Would I be able to get my life on track? I am not the same person I was the day I met you But if you would look a little harder There is still a glimpse of the me you knew.

The Me You Knew
God knows how our neighbor managed to breed His great sow: Whatever his shrewd secret, he kept it hid In the same way He kept the sow--impounded from public stare, Prize ribbon and pig show. But one dusk our questions commended us to a tour Through his lantern-lit Maze of barns to the lintel of the sunk sty door To gape at it: This was no rose-and-larkspurred china suckling With a penny slot For thrift children, nor dolt pig ripe for heckling, About to be Glorified for prime flesh and golden crackling In a parsley halo; Nor even one of the common barnyard sows, Mire-smirched, blowzy, Maunching thistle and knotweed on her snout- cruise-- Bloat tun of milk On the move, hedged by a litter of feat-foot ninnies Shrilling her hulk To halt for a swig at the pink teats. No. This vast Brobdingnag bulk Of a sow lounged belly-bedded on that black compost, Fat-rutted eyes Dream-filmed. What a vision of ancient hoghood must Thus wholly engross The great grandam!--our marvel blazoned a knight, Helmed, in cuirass, Unhorsed and shredded in the grove of combat By a grisly-bristled Boar, fabulous enough to straddle that sow's heat. But our farmer whistled, Then, with a jocular fist thwacked the barrel nape, And the green-copse-castled Pig hove, letting legend like dried mud drop, Slowly, grunt On grunt, up in the flickering light to shape A monument Prodigious in gluttonies as that hog whose want Made lean Lent Of kitchen slops and, stomaching no constraint, Proceeded to swill The seven troughed seas and every earthquaking continent.
