"circumlocution" poems
Brevity is suited for the ******
Elocution can be twisted into a knot,
and used for courtly euthanasia.
Brevity is best used for condemnation.
Concordantly, circumlocution is perfect for the panegyrics,
of that same party.
So if your the ****** or damning keep it brief;
no one wants to hear a fool trip over his words,
or a liar sing praise of his foe.

Trapped 'tween
adjectives' objections
succumbed to
long-windedness,
snared 'neath an
expanse of circumlocution,
paraphrasing periphrases
buried under layers
of technicalities,
all in a day's multiformity
working midst the madness
of poetry's sublimity

You can sing it to the tune
Of I Shot The Devil,
But I totally did it
Strictly on the level.
No, I didn’t know it when,
For another night of ***
He asked me to his den
Under the spell of some hex.
It was like he was to me
The hottest guy ever seen.
He was built like a star
His hair had a fine sheen.
Body and face were fine;
Toned and masculine.
I’d never seen him before
Though I had often been.
He used his elocution
And handy circumlocution
Better than a Rosicrucian
Sentenced to an institution.
He could twist the moment
Out of a frenzied foment
Then to a crazy torment
With muted arcane comments.
We met in a bath house
On Melrose, West L.A.
And somehow that night
Things seemed to go my way.
He gave me the eye
And I returned it in full.
I am fairly certain that
We both felt the pull.
It was all about debauchery
And he was calling the shots
Making me see I got stupid
Whenever I got that hot.
I let my **** do the thinking
And he seemed glad to show
That I would flirt with danger
And then, not even know.
He used his elocution
And handy circumlocution
Better than a Rosicrucian
Sentenced to an institution.
He could twist the moment
Out of a frenzied foment
Then to a crazy torment
With muted arcane comments.
So, I went back for seconds
At Hedda Hopper’s apartment
Across from Mae West’s place
Fueled with no armament
To protect me from what
Would turn out to be, for me
The scariest ****** encounter
In my busy, young history.
We were doing the deed again
But this time things had changed.
His appearance began to alter
Into something scary and strange.
His canine teeth grew longer
And his body turned fiery red.
I quickly dressed and left that place
And stumbled back home to my bed.
He used his elocution
And handy circumlocution
Better than a Rosicrucian
Sentenced to an institution.
He could twist the moment
Out of a frenzied foment
Then to a crazy torment
With muted arcane comments.

Alone in despair,
Awake but don't care,
Sense of agoraphobia,
I would show ya,
But the circumlocution,
Made us lose communications,
From the overtired notion,
Of who is right and who is wrong,
In a neolithic view of strong,
Indignation is the result,
Of why we're dumb not stupid .

She struck a chord although off key
She heard the beauty
So much noise like an overly passionate remix
Of a song that should have said one thing
To her there was language
In the rough off key finger press of her piano
To the rest of the band class
She was noise
Even after the teacher explained
She would never learn piano
How some people can’t be good at everything
She still showed up for music practice
With a song in her heart
So heavy
It made her consider opera
And Latin as a second language
Some of us will never learn some things
Like how to give up
When all we ever wanted
Was to make enough noise
For people to notice
So after practice
As she walked home
Her teacher picked her up
Explained to her about wasting time
Left out how secretly he wanted an entire successful band class
Explained how the truth hurts
But better learn it now
Than discover it later and feel like a failure
“You’re the only one who feels like a failure”
She said
And the next day
Her bench was empty
Though every note was perfect
And the music teacher was smiling
What happened was a tip-of-tongue beauty
Like something was missing
Even without her
They all felt a little off-key

Activate prior knowledge,
like a tumor that resembles
a painting of Churchill,
circumlocution
more like an echolocution…
or is it echolocation,
perhaps electrocution?
The sigils of universal coincidences
have finally revealed themselves.
They’re aligning for you
right this very second.
A hair from your head
laying in the bathtub
that reminds
you of a letter
from a long forgotten
language.
A random pattern of a scratch
on your arm from a outstretched
coat hanger in a department store.
An odd configuration of blood
on your arm after you dispense
a pesky mosquito.
A rorschached blob of a condiment
on your favorite shirt.
It’s out there trying to tell
you something very important.
There.
In those things lies the truth.
As much as you don’t want to
believe in it…
As much as you want to
deny it.
It will not live
up to your
memory of it later
on.

I.
You came upon me so suddenly--
a tornado,
a burst of energy--
I couldn't help but be swept up by
your pull
You tore me up
chewed me up
and spit me out
after spinning me around
mercilessly;
the circumlocution
making me dizzy
I had absolutely
nothing left.
I gave you everything
I had--
my heart and soul--
****** up by your vortex
never to be seen again
But it was my fault too,
I was too
curious, too anxious;
I dove in your storm too quickly
After all,
I'm just a
stormchaser
looking for
company
in the
oddest of places.
II.
A new, different storm
approaching--
barreling through,
electric--
full of
life
Surrounded by my new storm
impossible to
escape its presence
but I'm not worried:
choosing to stay
by it
After all,
I'm just a
stormchaser
looking for
company
in the
oddest of places
Clouds are
rolling in,
this beautiful storm
coming my way.
Only thing I have to say is
"Bring on the rain."

when shuttle feeds show the earth on fire
and unprovened ashes stray from the pyre
ammonium nitrate will still be there
to keep us unvitiated, cold, and bare.
not that we'll need it, the sun can warm
with its dying light it is no longer "aurum"
but "ater."
lying next to me, a body in destitution
rags and bones and circumlocution
no medicine can fix you, no analeptic drug
only the attraction of the gravitational tug
for when we are done with cosmic consorts,
we will be only sedimentary quartz.

Wounds get worse before they heal
In facing them we truly feel
in the mastery of circumlocution
you will find no dividends of absolution
we must go through the storm to catch the rainwater
you can be drowned or quench thirst with the same water
the choice is in action or passivity
will you drown or drink with me?

گزر کر ساری جہتوں سے وہیں پر عین آ پہنچی
تمہارے تک مسافت میں نیا چکر سہی ، ہمدم
Having traversed all dimension, I’m back where I began
Oh beloved, in my journey towards you, hence starts another span
Couplet and translation. ( mine)
