"celebrate" poems
there is always somebody or something waiting for you, something stronger, more intelligent, more evil, more kind, more durable, something bigger, something better, something worse, something with eyes like the tiger, jaws like the shark, something crazier than crazy, saner than sane, there is always something or somebody waiting for you as you put on your shoes or as you sleep or as you empty a garbage can or pet your cat or brush your teeth or celebrate a holiday there is always somebody or something waiting for you. keep this fully in mind so that when it happens you will be as ready as possible. meanwhile, a good day to you if you are still there. I think that I am--- I just burnt my fingers on this cigarette.

don't forget
Inside the great big global village not everything is rosy even a cat knows it a leaf can sniff it. The Moon shines not in every night nor God promised always a blue sky. Still the roses bloom Cinderella has the lot the reasons to groom. The richest among the folks turns philanthropist in the globe. The wisest among the men celebrate the era for it’s the civilisation at its peak. Hooray what now triumphs at last is the wisdom and humanity! Really? O please tell me? Not very far, nor for much, just because some differ in faith mothers and fathers left in pain. Not because they are to lose Rohingyan sun nor the land beneath their feet but in no time their sons and daughters can be put to death into fire that too before their eyes before the silent established world!

Cries of the Innocents (Rohingya)
Injustice was done on that day if you think. Then know years later Pharaoh's attire injustice prinked. Their is no Moses in this vast land in this vast crowd. So let the Pharaoh celebrate victory and laugh out loud. It is correct that Allah alone one should only fear. But patience is not a sign of weakness, my dear! Your tears will not go waste one day it will turn into a sea. And your patience will become Moses and will lead thee.

Injustice and Patience
There are some people Who think very logically They have a hard time Seeing anything that Doesn't make sense in Their minds and that Doesn't fit into their Ideas of what is Logical and right and What they can see right In front of their eyes There are also the People who understand And comprehend the World around them Through their feelings And emotions and Can see the bigger Picture and the bigger Plan easier than most We all make up our Own parts and we All have our own Purpose and even Though we are all Different in our own Ways we must learn to Appreciate the wonderful Differences that make Up the whole and To see and take notice Of the wonderful and Beautiful diversity of Life and of people and Of thoughts and even Of the Earth as well As we begin to Celebrate the diversity Instead of trying to Segregate and separate Ourselves based on our Differences we should Be trying to learn and Understand from each Other instead of trying To conquer and subjugate People to our ideas and Ways of thinking we should Be trying to see things From the other side of Things and understanding There is more the life than Right or wrong and trying To prove yourself to others And seeing that even with All of our differences we Are for more connected And alike than we all Could imagine and once We understand that simple Truth everything else starts To fall into place as we start To see the beautiful diversity And the wonder of life as We begin to see things More completely and Understand we are all Parts of one big great Diverse community that We call the human race

"Friendship day" A growing trend To recognize, appreciate and celebrate a friend, Had many friends, co-traveled the journey Many left when paths bend! A question bothers today, On this friendship day, Can all be named as "friend"? "Friendship for companionship" and "Friends for benefit" These terms mostly fit! But the picture is not always grim Some stars hidden mostly, light the life, Whenever it's dim! Friendship cycle too is sinusoidal, "Friendship in hardship" and "Friends for life" Proved the best! These types are rare, but in need, such friends are always there! True friends don't need an earmarked day, They are together Irrespective of distance in the night and day! True friendship doesn't really need an occasion, Whenever they meet or talk, life becomes "A celebration!!" Since friendship is reassured in this way, To all my friends from HP "HAPPY FRIENDSHIP DAY"

In Spanish, VIVIR means To Live, the proper conjugation of which to when you say something as improper as “I live” would simply be translated to “Yo Vivo”. I live, as a Colombian-American. I live, as “You don’t look Hispanic” I live, “Woah! You and your brother look nothing alike. You’re so… white.” I live, “My mom came home once and talked about a man who simply replied with a horribly pronounced “Me gusta” when my mom said she was Hispanic.” I live, “My dad condones abusive behavior because he thinks Latina aggression is **** I live, my mom asking me “Would you rather celebrate the Sweet Sixteen or have a quinceanera party?” I live, as the white boy sitting across the room in Spanish class asking “When will I need this in real life?” I live, as the “Yes I DO have a friend with a skin complexion similar to mine, and yes, he is Hispanic.” I live, most of my friends are beautiful people of color. I live, when will you open up the tab in Google and search some Hispanic History to fill your mind instead of “Latina **** I live, the messages on the Internet saying “You’re Hispanic? I bet you’re great in bed.” I live, there are NO gender neutral nouns in Spanish I live, yes I DO love coffee I live, no it did NOT stunt my growth I live, one kiss per cheek at family meet-ups I live, “Eskimo” nose rubs I live, "if you’re hispanic, why aren’t your ears pierced?" I live, being expected to remember Spanish just because it was my first language, but growing up with an American dad made me whiter than fresh bed-sheets sold in America, made in South America, Hecha en Peru. I live, my mom breaking into tears as she is so proud that I can sing in Spanish I live, my mom used to be so embarrassed, when I replied “un poco” to her friends asking “Tu Hablas Espanol?” I live, "if you’re Hispanic, is your mom an Alien?" I live, "But your dad looks so white!" I live, being subject to racism hidden in a joke, hidden in a remark about how pale I am, hidden behind a judgmental look, hidden behind a scoff, a laugh, a pity shrug, a fetishized assumption. I live the bulletproof clothing and horrible crimes I am warned about when I say I wanna go to Colombia I wanna go to my mom’s home. I live, as a Colombian-American. I live. Yo vivo.

Mumbai is rich, Mumbai is poor. Mumbai is fast, Mumbai is slower. Little bit sweet, and little bit sour, Sometimes it’s hot but not too more…. Mornings are energetic and evenings are electric. Noons are lazy but Nights are crazy And any one you ask he always say “M busy” Dude, life in Mumbai is not so easy There is lot of Masti with little bit of Maska Welcome to the city that can’t live, without Bollywood Chaska From cooker whistles to the traffic jam horns, From steaming tea kettles to breaking nut-betels From telephone rings and doorbell brings. There are people connecting through Blackberry pings Where there’s little time to spare for kids People here spend their lives on bids Here you actually pay your travel fare by meter But milkman mixing water is not a cheater! Sev puri and bhel puri are all Mumbai chaat Relishing it with spicy chutney is no easy art From pop-corn to ice-cream, all sold on cart Mumbai o Mumbai, you’re always close to my heart Where local trains usually run on time And violently rushing for a seat is not a crime Here 3 PM for lunch and 12 AM to dine People face hardships, but still say “it’s fine” From Mt Mary in Bandra to Mumba Devi in Town And ISKCON in Juhu to Haji Ali in Mumbai’s Crown Faith runs deep as the Arabian Sea But people don’t hesitate to pay early darshan fee. Marathi, Punjabi, Gujarati and Bengali Everyone forgather celebrate Id and Diwali Holi is colourful and Christmas is cheerful Spend some time here and your life will be un-forgetful Billionaire to baggers, all found in this city Be careful dude, this place is a bit witty. There will be gloomy days when you will look back at your old self and think about this one choice you made that changed your life in many ways You will think about the day you decided to leave You left family and friends behind hoping to find a better future on the other side You were young and naïve you were that quiet kid that no one thought could ever leave yet, on that September 6th 2013 holding hands with Fear and Hope you boarded a plane that took you miles away There will be gloomy days when you will wonder why on that day Fear didn’t pull you aside and tell you that life wasn’t going to be as bright on the other side You will wonder why that quiet kid had this strong need to leave You will look back in sadness and grieve the loss of those happy times you took for granted You will be drinking the same coffee mum used to make you on a Saturday morning and you will be listening to those songs dad used to play in the car on a Sunday afternoon You will grieve what it feels like a loss of those you have always loved It’s on these days that you will feel alone the most Inside your head it will be as dark as the sky on a rainy winter afternoon and your eyes will be as heavy as grey clouds ready to let the rain pour down It’s on these days that you will grieve the most Though, they say there is always calm after a storm and no matter how brief it can be you will eventually find some peace and it’s within this peace that you will find the strength to remember that not everything is as gloomy as it seems It’s within this peace that you will honour that quiet kid who is no longer as quiet as they used to be and it’s within this peace that you will celebrate their new life as a fearless kid

From Quiet to Fearless

Now I ask you to join me Now you celebrate Not being me. Not being you Only Us for the great UN load! DIS arm! EN large! OUT side! Some steps I will take Be my guest Pull your anchor Out of the lake We're In the room In the building In the crowded city In the country with thousands of cities The country shares the continent with an enemy nation The two rivals are carried round and round by the Earth's endless rotation The Earth obeys the master’s magnetic line, burning since uncountable clock time The sun is blind to his insignificance too, ignoring billions of other star mates, it can’t see through Immeasurable it seems, magnifying! All of them such tiny little parts in one of Miss Milky’s arms Some light years away there they are: Pinwheel, Cartwheel, Black Eye, Andromeda and Cigar Unmeasurable it seems, humongous! All of them such a fading little part of the cosmos There you are Floating from a distance Feel the empty ground Drink from the fountain of existence Still blind to insignificance? Still convinced about the rightness of imposed beliefs? Still judging others’ defects according to our pretentious and vain mind? Still punching away the different, protecting the mold? Still reinforcing illusory antagonism and insignia? Still seeing only two sides? Still holding to the pride? Still In the ******* room Am I? Are you? Let's try it again

Ego deconstruction
We went wild when all the stars came out. We went wild when all the flowers burst apart. We ran across the earth barefoot and with our electric hearts, beating to the harmonies of nature. There isn't anything that I desire but the satisfaction that freedom offers. Wrapped up in rays from the sun, I celebrate myself, while we sing only of glee. You cleaned my soul and showed me how to grow with each spring. You pushed me through the winters until the days when all life was reborn.

Date Night
In India pongal is the best festival It is not a mere ritual We celebrate it in January It is very very customary It lasts for three days Bhogi, sankranti and kanuma are the days. On the first day we have a holy bath Thinking that it sets us on the right path Early in the morning we sit around the bhogi fire Thinking it is the demon Ravana’s pyre We put on a new and attractive attire Dreaming life is a joyful boat shire Children make wreaths of cowdung Throw them into the fire like a gold ring The villages are full of colourful bullocks We sing folk songs taking neem sticks The bride groom leaves for the mother-in-law’s house The bride waits for him wearing a new saree and a blouse Father-in-law gives the groom a costly gift Mother-in-law makes a sumptuous feast Younger sister-in-law teases the groom The bride and the groom confine to the room Mother prepares delicious dishes and pickles Father goes to the farm worshipping the sickles On the last day we go to the temple fair I hope I made the happy pongal very clear Yours sincerely, JVL NARASIMHA RAO

HAPPY PONGAL
Towns are shimmering, gleaming like Christmas lights, illuminating the midnight sky. Kerosene and oxygen, Congratulations for an excellent performance on the roofs, windows and walls. Parties were thrown to celebrate life by destroying everything that was venerable. Tussling with each other on whose new growth to enforce. It was then, when **** hit the fan that the people finally gave a ****

let (flawed) society burn in hell
If I ruled the world, I would be, Not a benevolent leader, nor, Would I be a tyrannical leader. I would be something much unexpected and, hopefully, humble. You see, I would be a quilt maker. Not of fabric and thread, though. I would stitch the different cultures together, leaving each individual one unique, yet united by a common thread. I would sit with my diplomatic needle and peaceful stitching and lead those whom hold contempt for one another see the other's perspective. I would show them that, The world isn't in black and white, It's in full, high-definition color. So let's celebrate unity, Equality, Individuality, And uniqueness. Because in the final chapter, We all already rule the world. It's up to us to thread ourselves to each other, Or pull ourselves apart by the seams.

Quilting (If I Ruled the World)
i do not sing the storm. i do not sing rage, wrath the lightning bolt, the scream. Despair i do not sing i do not sing struggle–revenge poisonous blast– the hurricane, the quake that tears the city of peace i do not sing no border. i do not sing no flag i do not sing no warrior but she that fights all fear Poverty & sickness-night, the blade, the club, the trap blows, wounds, cries, lies, bursts & war-blood i do not sing i do not sing despise for any thing or being i do not praise no richness no governors, no kings From all this flower-garden i pick one single rose: creation is just dew upon the rose of love i celebrate one flame. i only sing one blues: the flame of endless loving with you & only you

Indian festival
What a historic day it is, that the birth of Motherland we celebrate, She beautifies herself with Independence and prides in freedom; Like a berry, Her seeds are nurtured and groomed to pomegranate, Its the birthday of Nigeria, a tectonic day of liberation from Edom. NIGERIA BIRTHS INDEPENDENCE
Why would it be bad To have cake and also eat it? Why is that a metaphor of greed? What else should I do with cake? It could be a piece of art Something beautiful to behold But it’s purpose is to be eaten It’s cake Yes, I would like my cake And to eat it as well I want to enjoy The things I enjoy Not simply to hold them in my hands Stare at them upon a platter Wonder what they taste like I want to eat the cake It was made for someone to eat Why not me? Too much cake Will make me fat The sugar and flour Conspire together to build a gut It is not healthy to eat cake daily I cannot keep cake in the house The temptation is too great But everything in moderation A piece of cake here and there To be had and to be eaten Is a nice treat The daily grind of salads and chicken Nuts and fish Avocado and eggs and water Will keep me healthy Grounded So when I feel like cake I can have it Order cake for dessert Or to celebrate a birthday An accomplishment Or anniversary No one bats an eye But order cake for breakfast? Might just incite a riot There is a time and place for cake Society has deemed it so We are not the rulers of our own lives (Though we could be) Instead our culture dictates The rules of life Steak for breakfast or for dinner But not lunch Bread goes with every meal Eggs and bacon are for the morning But at night is a nice treat - on occasion Beer after five But it’s five o’clock somewhere And somewhere Someone is ready for dessert So **** it Let’s eat this cake That I have procured You and me, together Let’s have our cake And eat it too

My Dad was a unique person too little understood. I do not sing his praises as often as I should. This day I will remember my Daddy as he was holding me when I was little tickling me, just because. He would tell me not to worry or have no fears, or tears. He's in a place of warmth and comfort where there are no days, or years I won't think of him as gone away his journey's just begun. For life holds so many facets this earth is only one. I'll remember not his fight for breath nor remember not the strife I'll not dwell upon his death but celebrate his life. Today I celebrate his birthday. He would be eighty~four. Though a woman now of many years, I'm still my Daddy's little girl.
