"candlelight" poems
I am adept In the art of being okay I have mastered the craft Of covering my troubles I use all sorts of fancy facades Acrylic, oil, watercolor You name it. I can paint over nearly anything You will never know How late I was up last night Or why. My eyes flicker Like candlelight But you couldn’t see You couldn’t possibly see I’m too good For that. I can dance, too Waltzing away my sorrows Carefully tip toe-ing the Pas-de-I-am-fine I get a standing ovation every time I’m very talented, you see. But my all time favorite Is my disappearing act I’m still perfecting it Right now But one of these days I’ll show you How I Slip Slip Slip Away Right through your fingers.

The Art of Being Okay
the words we softly whispered in a language of our own as we silently ruled our kingdom from our pillow thrones i'm cradled in your arms and the room is dimly lit as my soldiers lay down their arms and i begin to let you in novels of dreams and childhood years tales of sleepless nights reports of all my irrational fears which i confessed by dim candlelight thoughts that my mind had never before heard tumbled from my mouth- i was choking on the brutality of all my honest words and the ideas which you were provoking like birds in a cage, my feelings trapped for too long and the dust on this page had been there all along the first time i was hurt i swore it was my last but i begin to revert with my red wine filled glass as we slowly drift off into our peaceful slumber both enveloped by the night i did, in fact, begin to wonder if i should confess love by dim candlelight

candlelight
*When I was small I walked on fairy dust and my dreams were as tall as skyscrapers towering above the universe inside of me, was the galaxy. I was born of the cosmos, full of light and love passionate in my quest to give this to others. But as I grew my star began to fade, stars need love and light to survive and deprived of both my blazing fire transformed into weak candlelight. At school I had learnt it was easier to hide your light than to stand out as different and be extinguished in an instant. So I kept myself to myself at the back of the class, knowing the answers but not shouting them out. I daydreamed, and doodled stars on the corners of my books, all the while I could hear the universe calling out to me to trust, that we are all born of this cosmic stardust.*

Cosmic girl
*His green eyes stare into mine Glistening in the candlelight Shifting their gaze as it flickers He kisses my hands and up my arms Melting my heart and the snow*

We **** on the cold ground, breath sharp, bodies unbound. Go fast—then slow it down, hearts sync to a primal sound. I take you there, then you bring it home, back and forth, skin and bone. Touch of heaven between your thighs, one thought alone—I'm paralyzed. Paradise, wrapped in heat, your body sings, our souls repeat. You feel so good, you make time freeze, a touch, a sigh, you bring me to my knees. You leave me shaking, leave me still, like gravity left, lost in the thrill. You make me feel so **** alive, I’ll change your life, I'll make you mine. As soon as you slide, we slide, fire and silk, we collide. Making love in candlelight, shadows flicker, burning bright. Love the way you feel, the way you vibe, your body’s poetry—no need to write. No space, no pause, no need to hide, just you and me—we ride.

Ride the Rhythm
by sweet sunrise fear fades away by sweet sunrise hope finds another day by sweet sunrise your tears start to dry and by sweet sunrise you learn to fly by candlelight sadness flickers and fades by candlelight you await new days by candlelight you start to dream and by candlelight words are no longer mean by tomorrow you'll find new promises by tomorrow you'll use old wishes by tomorrow you'll find my eyes and by tomorrow no one new will cry

By Tomorrow
Drowning in the sea of red cartridges stuck inside her head singing to the pigeon man about all the stars again how they crunch under her toes there she goes She dines by the candlelight golden beetles lined with blight in her velvet dressing room withered flowers in full bloom Drowning in the sea of red cartridges stuck inside her head singing to the pigeon man about the dawn once again how the curtain rises low on last show Cigarettes in the first row burning slow Rustling of the stolen feathers burning slow City shining through the smoke burning slow

Mechanical Ballerina
Muted, muffled, dull thud on concrete, Staggered, drunken, half conscious nobody, Starved, seeking, worried about payments, **** in hand, knocking on the wrong doors, Fire and brimstone stoked in the belly, Mad, strange, appetizing burlesque eyes, Obnoxious smacking and licking of parched lips, Rolling on half rationed legs, Quiet, sullen, mournful footsteps, Presently placed awkwardly one in front of the other, Memory serves correctly, destitute, reprise, Thunderclaps and crashing roars, Almost forgotten, with great relief, Soon, very soon, to be lost forever, Candlelight, sobbing vigils, no power, Nail, Nail, Nail, Praise in the box, graffiti walled, Like a bathroom stall, just as ****** Docile dissolving vessels, Brought to the commonplace dropoff, Settled down and greatly relieved.

DEADBEAT
This is winter, this is night, small love -- A sort of black horsehair, A rough, dumb country stuff Steeled with the sheen Of what green stars can make it to our gate. I hold you on my arm. It is very late. The dull bells tongue the hour. The mirror floats us at one candle power. This is the fluid in which we meet each other, This haloey radiance that seems to breathe And lets our shadows wither Only to blow Them huge again, violent giants on the wall. One match scratch makes you real. At first the candle will not bloom at all -- It snuffs its bud To almost nothing, to a dull blue dud. I hold my breath until you creak to life, Balled hedgehog, Small and cross. The yellow knife Grows tall. You clutch your bars. My singing makes you roar. I rock you like a boat Across the Indian carpet, the cold floor, While the brass man Kneels, back bent, as best he can Hefting his white pillar with the light That keeps the sky at bay, The sack of black! It is everywhere, tight, tight! He is yours, the little brassy Atlas -- Poor heirloom, all you have, At his heels a pile of five brass cannonballs, No child, no wife. Five ***** Five bright brass ***** To juggle with, my love, when the sky falls.

We **** on the cold ground, fast then slow—no words, no sound. I take you there, then you bring it home, a rhythm deeper than flesh and bone. A touch of heaven between your thighs, just the thought takes me to paradise. You feel so good, I lose control, paralyzed, but craving more. I make you feel it, change your life, as soon as you slide, we slide. Candlelight flickers, bodies collide, love the way you move, love the ride.

devilishly shy
I am from New Jersey. From the paradise of small towns And the inferno of concrete jungles. I am from truck tire playgrounds, Porch Clubs, and the whistle Of the Riverline. I am from divorce. From alcoholism and denial, From broken doors and hearts. I am from next to hell. From pouring out full forties For one's homies passed away. From too many candlelight vigils And sidewalks littered with fourth grade pictures. I am from the garden state. From cows, corn, and Clinton, And tractors in the parking lot. I am from tradition. From pasta and seven fishes, From "Mafiosa!" screamed in the streets And "No WHOPs" pasted on storefronts. I am from love. From three parents and four siblings, From six dogs and duplicate holidays, And the smell of tulips and holly.

Come put your lips near my lips. We don't need the Candy-Sweet-Candlelight, the Special-Slinky-Things, the Smooth Hum of Midnight Jazz. **** it. We'll make-out to the sound of a blender or a lawnmower, Or a pack of feral cats. Wearing what we wore to work And smelling of nothing more than mediocrity. Just come put your lips near my lips. It will be perfect.

Casual Friday
Not much inquiry is necessary delineating candlelight Not much pondering, only the flickering whispers which permeate time-space And transfix time temporarily are the tools for description... ...something about the periphery that lies beyond its heated source is the mystical shimmering glow and its soothing embrace that hugs cradled-souls And most matter about... ...energy not yet exhausted heated translucent secretions gush down from the hot-tip likened phallus... ...the heated beads reflect the candlelight Watching the warm trickles, human feelings are warm Lightly light and light headiness soon embrace...

Candlelight
A most pious man whose well-tempered music brushed the cobwebs from the throne of God Evolution was made manifest across deep time these lyrical figures achieve the same purpose in the space between the morning star and the dawn A fallow field is sewn with pearls a moonlit beach illuminated by shadow every scrape of the fiddler's bow merges mind with the present harvests the meaning in the moment The composer that good man was for a time church organist at St. John's its notable steeple leaning all askew as a rebuke against God or perhaps the drunken architect A finger of candlelight plays across the manuscript a fugue echoes through the still church And though no living person on that still winter's night shares the organist's solemn delight the stirring mass of possibility that is posterity awaits

Violin Concerto by JS Bach
I fell in love with candlelight- in my darkness, she shone so bright. She danced the breeze, lit up the night, her glow consumed my very sight. But wax and wick both burn away, and candlelight just cannot stay. As sure as night turns into day, that fickle flame will go astray. But for a moment, through the storm, she lit my world, she kept me warm, then flickered out, as is the norm for candlelight, its fleeting form. I fell in love with candlelight, for but a moment, all was right. Her glow, her dance, consumed my sight, and faded out at end of night.

Cowgirl boots cost her just little pay She knows to play it safe Keepin them cowboys away Wants soft black fur To keep her warm at night... they say She murmurs by candlelight ... Country bear soothing... them Cowboys cause me fright She doesn’t want a man She’s lookin for a country bear That’s her true fan Cowboys want to make her purr But a country bear is gona stretch his paws and groan I finally found her Big bear wont mind what she does with that hair Cause he’s her country bear She’s his woman He’s her furry scare Try not to stare When they’re hittin the town fair Kissin at the top of that ferris wheel Ladies want to know What’s that she feel Township whispers.. there she goes Smoochin that big bear Maybe it ain’t no big deal This is too surreal Watching this They eatin cotton candy in complete bliss Later in fright Before the early light All the ladies pray Keep them cowboys at bay Send me a country bear like Miss Fray And we might promise to obey Her secret They want to know She said forget it Go to your rodeo Bears ain’t something I’m about to share That country woman That country bear It’s the perfect love affair

Country Bear
In times gone by, now recondite, Neanderthal, ***** upright, spoke softly, tones so lily-white, and tried to put the world aright. He taught us how the flame ignites that wearing furs will warm the nights, just why the rolling wheel excites, and how the beveled flint stone bites. Before the days of dynamite he fought his foes with spit and spite, and swung big sticks with all his might, and rendered death with stones in flight. Engaged in never-ending fight (arenas were a global sight) he forced his forces to unite to sate his oily appetite. To quell rude thoughts that may incite he ruled the realm with fly-by-nights and culled the winds of words in flight, and darkened minds to anthracite. With fairy tales of evil sprites and how the fist of freedom smites, he washed the world with flames alight to vanquish hoards of parasites. Each dawn the damage brought delight, the foe was bent, a bit contrite… yet battled on with no respite until the dusk and evening light. Encamped beside the firelight Neanderthal, that shiny Knight, awaited morn while sitting tight assured the end would be alright. Yes, conquest seemed his sacred right… Forevermore?… well, no, not quite… Neanderthal's extinct tonight and lies beside the Trilobite… MORAL The Oreo is round, not bright: while rolling near the candlelight at first the searing seemed so slight, the molten cream an oversight…

A dash of spluttered kisses come raining down on your neck. Buried in your sandy hair, shining lips in the candlelight. I don't speak your language, you barely speak mine, Ik wil jij.

I am the candle, You are the flames, I give you vision, You give me strength. You are the reason, That I was made, But if you get too close, Then I'll melt away.
