"astronaut" poems
When I grow up, I want to be a dentist Astronaut or mage apprentice. I want to be a dancer, an artist, a king. I'm hoping to stand on a stage and sing. When I grow up, I want to be a lawyer, Or have lead role in the play Tom Sawyer. I'll be a comedian, and make people laugh! Or the CEO with a thousand staff. I'll be a waitress, a teacher, a vet. Snow White's eighth dwarf that no one has met! I might be a chef, or a scientist. How about architect or alchemist? When I grow up, I'll be a song writer Or maybe your friendly, next-door firefighter. I'll be a technician or pharmacy worker, A fashion designer or New York stock broker. I'm gonna be everything, just you wait and see! But I think in the end I'm just gonna be me.

When I Grow Up
Stardust dusted across your cheeks Light brown ones, hard to see The sun peaks The warmth of the sun in your embrace Your gravity is keeping me down Unfamiliar space Are you the milky way? Am I the lonely astronaut? Led astray You are making my head spin I am no moon, this isn't love I can still taste the gin From Mercury to Neptune the colors are all there And time goes by, measure it by light years Just stare Sort of a single slingshot gravity Keeps me from shooting further away. The beauty, over your capacity If the whole galaxy was in front of you, would you come near it? Could you? ** When you are only allowed to enjoy the view **

If the galaxy was this close would you come near it?
My bed may not be as large As California or have a blanket As deep as the ocean. But it’s comfy and shares The same view as if we were there. When I am asleep with you, Everything becomes ideal. One of the best feelings the universe Could bestow. To discover a slice of heaven beside you. A spoon finding it’s way To the big dipper, in the same Lineage of how I see you. We stargaze with our eyes closed, Watching the stars bloom like flowers In complete comfort. The urge to explore further, A simple look, a simple smirk Head nestled deep in a pillow. The aspirations of becoming an astronaut Become that much clearer. I blast off & everything becomes dark My reflection staring at yours beneath mine, Until I see your face spread wide Across the moon. Happy and safe, My voyage is now complete

What would occur if gravity failed me and I was lifted far into the heavens, Past the clouds and into the dark abyss of space? I would have nothing with me but my mind to reflect the world we all know. I wouldn’t think for long however, I would be to busy dancing around with the planets, to remember the harsh words that were said that night. I would be found hopping around on Saturn’s rings, giving her all the love I could. I would be found  talking to the Sun, telling her how we all missed her when she went away for the nights, without her we lay restless and cold waiting for her return. I would be found comforting Pluto, See he as well was easily forgotten. I would meet all the stars that make up the night sky, and say how we are all inspired by the beauty they give off, how we all glance up at them at our greatest moment of weakness and remember we aren’t alone, whispering to them all our troubles knowing that they will always be there to listen. And while everyone goes to sleep, I will finally join them and dream of never leaving this world that I have entered. I will finally forget you and the lies you told, laying restless no longer. So if you need to contact me, I can be found  floating across galaxies, talking to the asteroids, sharing stories of how I thought it would be the end if you left, laughing about the fact that everything was actually better. I will be among the stars, searching no more for love, because I am loved by the planets and all the stars. I no longer dread on not having the love of another, because there is far more love out there then in you.   The Earth still spins and the Sun still shines, the only difference being I don’t love you anymore.

Cast out were his alien dreams; Aspiring and confident he did leave. Fiery ground of thunder burnt his home; As he alone cast out for that void, perceived through his singular glass dome. Adventure had caught him lonely But peering out from his craft his pupils did glow! Circling fiery molecules hovering to and fro! How could he now transmit and show Reflection of scale small and macro! Fumbling, his fingers did try To articulate the machines Imprinted of his native language. "Calling Cpt. Crow!" Sending the signal the results did show A break in the wire and a fuse did blow. Barricading that soul far and deep, A minuscule solar flare Emanating a glow! And from that earth looked upward team and crew Saw idle in that gigantic void a singular golden hue Distant but true was the connection they all knew.

Astronaut
A final inhalation, farewell to oxygen submitting to oblivion a conscious lack of everything. The very absence of air, sickening and desolate, destitute, despairing tearing at my aching lungs, my vacant mind. Call me a vagabond, a wanderer entrapped in the extrasensory. My breath escapes.  The empty core within myself rings in tune with the extant and extinct. Neck arching, mouth agape a single note transcends my lips of stone unadulterated, unwavering, a melodious sound  building and joining in harmony to create a symphony of life, of death, of everything we cannot comprehend.  Sonorous and assonant my soul cries out at ever-growing volumes. My eyes begin to flicker and fade away. God, can You hear my screams in space in this vacuum, void of sound?

An Astronaut Removing His Helmet
She fell in love with an astronaut, their distance lightyears away. She believes that he fell in love with her, too. “For the galaxies are beside me, and a vast of possibilities laying outside the metal surrounding me, i kept falling back into your pull of gravity.” And she still does, when she grows old every day, waiting he stays the same, feels the same, thinks the same. But she fell in love with an astronaut, their distance lightyears away. Everything under her feet moves faster, And in space - time slows down, Relativity kicks in. And every day she wishes, that the Earth would stop revolving the years stop counting, and she would stay the same, feel the same, think the same. She hoped, she dreamed, she failed. She fell in love with an astronaut. Her nights linger on tinkering on stars and planets, and space. She wanted to wait, she grows old, he slows it down, she couldn’t. He is lightyears away, and time is running out. She was in love with an astronaut, and he was meant to be there, not with her, not ever.

Relativity
I am gone. Adrift thru cold dead air, Lost in the horizon. There's no comfort, No means of adaptation. Only this void. this loveless space. Out here I am forgetting you — Slowly, As my oxygen depletes.

Astronaut
I grew up taking hits from my big brother, I grew up on "boys' weekend" camping trips, I grew up with my father calling me a princess but calling my brothers rock stars, I grew up watching Boy Scout meetings from the back of the room, I grew up on LEGOs and Hot Wheels and I still remember the year my brothers got Nerf guns for Christmas and I got a bracelet, I remember being shot with foam bullets and having no way to fight back, but at least I looked pretty. I remember seeing my dad leave for work every morning and wondering why my mom never did, I remember wanting to be an astronaut, but my brother told me moms have to stay home. The phrase stop being a girl is branded into my mind and I still curse myself every day for the organs I was born with. I remember the year my brothers went as zombies for Halloween and I had to go as a princess, I remember bringing a fake butcher's knife because a princess is not scary. I grew up on manhood meaning strength and manhood meaning confidence and manhood meaning respect and I still wear dresses and my dad still calls me a princess but I'll be ****** if you tell me I'm not a man.

Manhood
every summer, your freckles come out like a broad Irish galaxy. the planets are summer days that I wish I could waste with you. and there is a star for every single dance I wish I'd have had with you. an asteroid belt of insults and haphazard tweets. but I slide on, a lonely astronaut, skimming your freckled universe.

Blink and a star is on its way to sleep, I'm standing so close to Jupiter, I can feel its winds sweep me off my feet, I'm an astronaut without a name, I'm an astronaut without a name. Consider this, I'm away on a cruise to Saturn's ring tonight. Consider this, The Sun's so far, it's so cold, I can't feel the light, You penetrate my gravity armour, You strike me with your black hole armada. Neptune looks so lonely at night, She longs for Venus but she's so far away, Four hours at the speed of light, But she's bound by the chains of gravity, She's bound by the chain's of gravity. Consider this, I'm a million asteroids left alone in the emptiness, Consider this, I reach out for the blue but I burn in the atmosphere, Your skies have set me on fire, Burning in the flames of your desire. The birth of a star painted in a supernova, The glowing halo of a mothership, Is all that was left over. They reach out for the sun, They reach out for the sun. Consider this, They don't have big black eyes like Mother told us. Consider this, They look like him and her we spoke to on the bus. But you flew your guns at them, You rushed your bombs at them. It was on the news that she brought down the aliens, They looked like me and you but she went after them, But nobody could be found on the ship that brought them here, The red lights on Mars they felt was safer than this fear, And yet she found one of them, The one who saved them all, The one who chose to stay, And take the fall. The unnamed astronaut. The unnamed astronaut.

The smile of the white bloom, in my crown its fragrance spreads across galaxies of neurons, none can fully imagine the scene, I haven't seen it's stellar design baffles humans, resists exploration. On single file pass days and nights, indefatigable rainbows are made and unmade, making clouds blush and hoping for  bridges across them, why, even the universe dances to the tunes we play Ever  at ease, I walk silently past the blue mountains, of remembrance, mostly love created, a miracle! At times a poet, a scientist,a  cosmologist,or a mystic in solitude finds the need to "stand and stare"wonder, speaks in metaphors. Looking st the fireworks sky manages, I hallucinate, an astronaut I become, who knows nothing about time one wished to live in timelessness for ever and when, that dream comes true, loses within and be nothingness.

"- My *** n me -"
Delayed response to ground control, oh how I was crying. In retrospect, I was just shallow; like an astronaut only watching himself as the rest of the world kept steadily spinning. Impersonal up here, never caring about winning or losing. The star charts that mentors showed lost to what my mind followed, A winding path through this sacred space which I unhallowed. I didn't flinch at blastoff; it wasn't bravery, it was me being a coward. Sweating in a far away bed, steel round walls with no decoration, Straining my mind fighting the moments of suffocation. Spots in my vision, distortion and discoloration. Seeing stars I glimpsed my comet on exhibition. I would have to come back around. It was just a matter of my rotation. Retrospect from ages back and to beyond where we will have gone. Black holes made that can never be filled, endless they came, endless they will come. To touch down in glory, or stay on the run. Life is just a rocket that departs from the sun. The rest isn't lost, it just hasn't been done. So as we eventually drift into deep space and age becomes our dawn, remember to look out the window and wave to the passerby's. They will cheer you on.

Rockets, Comets, And The Stars Between Them All
I am an astronaut Not because I trained for years In high-tech NASA facilities Not because I'm a peak physical specimen Endurance tested Intelligence too I am an astronaut And its a reason as simple as this I made someone my world And then she left me I am an astronaut And right now I'm drifting through space I can see the stars I just can't reach them

I'm drunk and the skies are a little hazy, and the stars, a little like Van Gogh's, but tonight, I'm still an astronaut angling metaphors from the mesophere and you're still the moon to which these poems orbit around.

Dissociation #6
I want a swing To sway between The moon and the earth, A hammock to lie Between Canis Major and minor, Let me row a boat One paddle Through The milky way, Let me pedal Across the galaxy On a starship enterprise trike, I want to race A shooting star, Whittle meteoroids Into beautiful Paper weights, Surf the rings Of Saturn, And play Laser tag amidst All the space debris, Let me be astronaut... Astronaut...
The fox runs alongside the astronaut, who looks at a picture frame. Around the fox’s neck, a white bandana. There, on the spooky moon, his only company is the fox colored aluminum. The aluminum fur of the fox blends into the moonscape. The ship is empty aside from them and the spooky remanence of the rest of the crew. As the lone astronaut works to return home, his only comfort being the bandana and the picture frame. The frame that holds a photo of a woman, standing before the ship of aluminum. Tied around her hair, the bandana which has since been given to the fox. The memories it brings ever haunting the astronaut making the moon ever more spooky. The spooky feeling is not eased by the frame as the remains of passed astronauts are trapped in this aluminum ship, the lone survivors being the man and the fox. He keeps his thoughts on the bandana. Her bandana, given to him on a dark and spooky day, which he then gave to the fox so he may pretend the woman in the frame isn’t millions of miles away from them. A fox of aluminum and a lonely astronaut. The astronaut chooses to focus on returning to the woman without her bandana. He works tirelessly to get the aluminum rocket ship off the spooky and desolate moon, and back to earth, to see the woman in the frame. By his side on this barren rock, looking up at him, stands the fox. The astronaut refuses to let the spooky atmosphere deter him from his goal of returning the bandana to the woman in the frame, ever thankful for the company of the aluminum fox.

She has a way of tormenting you In every direction you try take She gives you a curfew Hoping, probing, that you, too, slip through the cracks. I wanted to be a astronaut To explore the universe To find my destiny Through the black hole And out Spaghettified or not When my now cuffed-mind Soared the air With wings dispersed in the wind Still when she didn't care And thought I was harmless She tried shooting me down And got one through a wing Now I think I want to be an accountant Mediocre and sane But who wants to have sanity When you can be in it? So I crashed into Hyperion And as high as I am She still sends her vicious winds To try and cut me down But her torment crafts precious stones So in the interim I'll hold on Hoping that I can un-cuff my mind Keeping a birds-eye view Like a leopard waiting for its **** So that one day I can glide the universe Wings distributed out wide Skillful and experienced So she can never shoot me down Now Perched on Hyperion Patient and vigilant I wait

as an astronaut, I spun on a rotary around the core of your existence like you were the gravity that held me to the ground but kept me on my toes if home is where the heart is, i'm coping with this unbearable homesickness and I know my heart has an anarchy government, living a steel toed rebellion but these relentless thoughts about you have gotten bad again, i don't sleep my reckless behavior let loose, like a dog off his chain and collar and i revisited the places you always talked about, how i dreamed to be there with you recovering those lost feelings, and rebellion was assisting me in the mind of my teenage angst, no autobiographies could be more authentic than the hatred for this unrequited swelling i held in my heart without a doubt, you're featured in my dreams more than nightmares you couldn't be more real than the books that I hold in my hands i'm sleeping in water filled with sharks calling me a tedious terrorist entering their territory, leaving me with absolutely nothing just build a bridge, get over it, if you have to, revisit my mind maybe you'll see everyone is the enemy, not everyone is perfect -kra

I told my mother I wanted to be an astronaut And she smiled and said, "My sweet child, If you go to space, you'd miss your years: The laughter of your children, The embrace of your beloved husband. Better not waste your life amongst the stars Once you are of marriageable age." When I was nearing graduation In the golden era, the high of the times I wanted to venture out and learn more For myself; I had dreams of becoming a hero, A revolutionary mind, a change in the world. Alas! My darling, he looked at me with love And uttered, "But I will provide for you And our children, in our pretty little house. What of education, when you are Of marriageable age?" One time in a playground, watching My young boy conquer the slide like a warrior While carrying my newborn doll in my bejeweled arms, My neighbor proclaimed, "Oh you are The luckiest housewife in our neighborhood! A rich and faithful husband and such Beautiful children! How I wish I were as favoured by fate as you were When you were of marriageable age!" And just today, while visiting nan I sipped my afternoon tea, staring at the sunset I recalled to her the missed opportunities Of mine own personal growth And she, rocking in her ancient chair, She replied to me, "But what could you have done, my dear? You were of marriageable age."

Of Marriageble Age
There’s a god in this space computer There’s a person in this space cocoon There’s a spirit in red defeating the holy There’s a trio of sailors flying past the moon There’s a left-handed man drifting in a probe There’s an astronaut gliding in an earlobe There’s a malfunctioned leader stuck on Mars There’s a determined machinist amidst the stars There’s a sacred yellow Judas in the jaws of life There’s a bloated bellow shooting from the tree of strife There’s a solitary soldier among the aliens There’s a black slab of faith between here and then There’s an eight-pointed star of architectural riddles There’s a cow, a spoon, a dog and a fiddle There’s a god at number two, a bird at number three And there’s always Jupiter to seem higher than thee There’s an eye full of molecules There’s an eye full of stars There’s a blind man full of loneliness There’s an empty void at large

I remember the bed just floating there. Apart, apart, apart, apart. If you repeat something over and over again it loses its meaning For example: Homework, homework, homework, homework, homework, homework, homework, homework, homework See, nothing Our existence? It's the same way. You watch the sun set too often, it just becomes 6 PM You make the same mistake over and over you'll stop calling it a mistake If you just wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, wake up, one day you'll forget why Nothing is forever I last saw my mom when I was four years old Before the last argument they sent me off to the neighbor's house, like some astronaut jettisoned from the shuttle. When I came back there was no gravity in our home, beds floating I imagined it as an accident, that when I left We whispered to each other "I love you" so many times over that they forgot what it meant Family, family, family, family, family, family If you repeat something over and over again it loses its meaning This became my favorite game It made the sting of words evaporate. Separation, separation, separation; see, nothing Apart, apart, apart; see, nothing I am an injured person now I work with words all day Shut up, I know the irony When I was young, I was taught that the trick to dominating language was breaking it down Convincing it that it was worthless I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.. ...See, nothing Soon after I left I developed a stutter Fate is a cruel and efficient tutor There is no escape in stutter You feel the meaning of every word drag itself up your throat S-s-s-separation Stutter is a cage made of mirrors Every "Are you ok?" Every "What'd you say?" Every "Come on kid, spit it out" Is a glaring reflection you cannot escape Every terrible moment skips upon its own announcement Over and over until it just hangs there, floating in the middle of the room Mom, ........ ....Dad? I am not wasteful with my words anymore. Even now after hundreds of hours of practicing away my stutter, I still feel the claw of meaning in the bottom of my throat. I have heard that even in space; You can hear the scratching of a I-I-I-I love you.

Sandbox giggles and seesaw chuckles echo around the park. Little ones pitter patter on tarmac and grass, oblivious to their age. All they know is the sun is shining and they're going to feel like this forever. Rubber throwing and hushed whispers echo around the classroom. Schoolkids adding and subtracting, oblivious to their age. All they know is that they hate math and they're going to be an astronaut when they grow. Cheesy pop songs and girly giggles echo around a bedroom. She's curling her friend's hair and smiling, oblivious to her age. All she knows is that Jake is a cutie and she's going to marry him when she's 21. Birthday wishes and _lots of love!_ echo around the dinner table. He's having his first beer as an 18-year-old and loving it, oblivious to his age. All he knows is that he's going out tonight and staying up till dawn. Baby rattles and first words echo around the house. The baby is mumbling its first word, oblivious to the meaning behind it. All it knows is that its mummy is warm and it's daddy smells nice. Memories of sandboxes and summer nights echo around their heads. They're laying in a bed in a sanitary place, oblivious to the current situation. All they know is that their time is up, but they had such fun whilst it lasted.
