"ascendant" poems
Virgo in the ascendant, Saturn in decline, A retrograding antidote, A calculated rhyme; Overtones of melancholy, Undertones of mirth, A surfeit of misfortune, Of musery a dearth Faithless Fortune taps her foot, While plotting my demise, A rhythm most unruly, A metaphor unwise; In minutes and in seconds, She wreaks havoc on my pen, A glib faux pas, no coup de grâce... And so I start again. § _My zodiacal tendencies, Triumphant in their prime, Fade to skepticism As life spins on a dime._

A PLAGUE ON BOTH THEIR HOUSES
Have you ever watched a wild horse’s rage when they try to tame it in? Or ever watched a wild leopard fight back, when they Try to steal it’s skin? Have you ever watched a lion’s fierce roar, when they try to cage it in? Like the wild, leave me.wild child. My love flow like  rivers, It comes deep as the seas. My emotions can be contagiously calming but can change like the ties of a raging sea. I don't know where I am going, but I know where I been, I desire to live like the wild, I rebell when cage in. Living to be free, Independent spirit of a loner wolf. Jane to Tarzan? yea... I would live like them if I could. Wishes to be unconstrained by society.  How could I be put in a box. When you have courage like a lion an strength of an ox. Can not be compared to a thing, or an ordinary human being. Gypsy by heart, obsession for freedom, born bohemian Queen. Though control over others can be a blessing, more of a curse. When flesh and ego bound by unresolved past, turns me into the worse. But my awareness of it all, picks me up from the fall. and leads me back to soul, when I hear divinity call. Ancestors guide me,Truth in the stars. Moon child in chart. Pisces in sun. scorpio by ascendant, Venus ram thrives, I see God in the sun. My soul is undefined, Old fashioned and style. Mind me like nature and love me like the wild. Have you ever watched a wild horse’s rage when they try to tame it in? Or ever watched a wild leopard fight back, when they Try to steal it’s skin? Have you ever watched a lion’s fierce roar, when they try to cage it in? Like the wild, leave me.wild child.

Your kindness will light up the dark caverns of my heart bring to mind my warring thoughts and I will buckle under the weight of myself until mercy once again is in the ascendant, and love welcomes me home, the prodigal and faithful personalities torments, reconciled once again.

Prodigal And Faithful Siblings
Please, please, first listen to this, if you are unfamiliar with this musical piece http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kllZlF6mB2s ~~~~~~~~~~~ you thought you didn't know it, but you did somewhere a wedding, a movie and you thought how beautiful I hear it each note distinct, unique and a passageway to the next and the next a transcendence a generation an uplifting an arousal a smoothing a calming a weeping smithy of words, I have read, I have writ words that gut punch me, round my mouth into oh's, cause me weeping endless but this music arrests and rests me, miracle each time I walk on its waters how utter fools we be to have "lost" this for over three hundred years! I rediscover it each time somewhere a wedding a movie and you thought how beautiful for me, a funeral, play it for me at my funeral, hold it in a wedding chapel, so with it, upon hearing its invocation, I may thee wed thereafter, when you stumble on it our vows be timely renewed, and though apart, together, we will weep, once more, transcendent, once again, ascendant, then and now

Pachelbel's Canon
Famine had come to our shores The poor and weak it claimed. It was our staple, the potato, which failed. There was no lack of grain. The landlords were exporting crops While they watched their tenants bide. A crueler death than Cromwell gave Back when he let God decide. The Wealthy were the Protestants, centuries in the ascendant. The victims, mostly Catholic, of native Celts descendant. Starvation is a lingering death. It is not quick or kind. Green Grass was, for many, the last meal on which they dined. When our neighbor, Kitty Kelly, died, too proud to take the soup. We boarded ship for old New York And left behind our youth.

an Gorta Mór (The Great Hunger)
Embellish your lies with a wreath to evade the wretched truth. Wrap it around them as a sheath, prudent as to not show ruth. Cajole me into thinking that most harm done is inadvertent, and those harmed are still intact, on their way to the top, ascendant. Plant in me the bliss I have been yearning for. Elate me with calmness from the surface of my being, down to my very core. Expiate the job of the universe, and allow us all to lapse. Leaving behind a world--cursed, yet free of sullen poets.

Cold winds blow and wash over clothes less skin The argent shining of suns long away covers earth I stand waiting, as I ever have, with hope and humour The dawn shall come soon And be with me In glory The birth of a new day, resplendent in the possible The chill beauty of the night gracefully fades The bright wonder of the day sweeps In waves across the world The new dawn suffuses the hills, a golden flow of light Warmth on my face, looking at the ascendant sun Breath catches as colours erupt in riotous desire The dawn has come She stands with me In wonder The day has come, the existence of all is truth Land breathes, voices risen in greeting Life has arrived, we cry.

The Earth is purged: Human ghosts Once hung in elemental pores Have been released, Ascendant from dirt And salt. Evening vespers complete After one-thousand years Of denial, They take flight into ether, Each ascension signified In violent purple hues, Clean breaks.

Electrostatic Epitaphs
I’m lying on a beach, sun-punched subconscious not too hot as a briny breeze still blows ashore, but warm and melted onto the ground like candle wax spilled over nearby recumbent girls, unmoving as statues, **** Aphrodites raised of sand and sea foam splay across loose opened chitons unfurling scents of oils and lotions, awaiting their animation from kisses of salt mist or ocean tide come in too close they’d vanish by next glance lost in minutes or hours passed the impressions they’d left filled with glistening sparkles, constellations of miniature stars fusing then extinguishing by pairs to gray flatness ascendant on gulls' laughter, wind-stretched, entangled among broken waves in an endless silk scarf god once made but left behind in his dream at dawn when light then carved each grain its shape - this beach for me to sleep on

Last Thoughts in Passing
Day Day is plain By night My matter transforms Becoming ascendant Day Day is so plain By night I become someone else Take my real form Day is the suffocation By moonlight my constricted lungs are briefly fixed The writer scratches a note to their side, She moves through day to the night like bright lightning on the somber sky.

The Drama of Miriam Marcus: A Somber Sky
*where every millenia one bird flies past and alters the stone that would have sacrificed itself to idols* The poem is written loosely in my clothing.  I wrap it into my hair decorated with sighs as I prepare to leave home each morning I check myself in the mirror and in all possible reflections, just to be sure it hasn't unraveled in the absence of audience or that some subtle aspect of it's beauty hasn't morphed into something else since last I looked. What you think is vain is simple. Is there anything I might have missed? Look again. Look again. What have you missed? How am I ever to find God when all I want is Art? Given: To be an artist is to be driven solely by sin.    Lustful enough to encompass the world, Greedy. Vain enough to imagine that God with her many arms, mother and eater of worlds could be woven into the ascendant strata of my spine. She could climb up from my gut a ladder built of the basest desires and from the space between hemispheres, jump out across the synapse as light cast into the void, and echo of herself to herself singing only I am.

(patiently) waiting
I wish for her - and wishing's not my wont - then moments later ween my wish too much. To see her, hold her hand, is all I want to wean me of her distant love by touch. So I must words most tenderly select, -to woo this wish from her I deem most fair- write them, speak them, fight them till correct. Ascendant recitation, be my prayer: Give me this day, an hour of your time, forgive me if affection makes me bold, but tempt me, lead down paths to verse and rhyme and I'll deliver beauties yet untold.      Unlock this gated garden of the heart      and henceforth ever play the muses part.

The Garden, a Sonnet
A mountain dweller clung the livelong day...rank and nude...fuschia skies sequenced. Surrogate family to ram, serpent, eagle-- inebriate of consciousness, holy spurn. Of rubble and dappled shadow, G*d's wayside seed sown...severe eyes, Witness expressly. He could crowd fire, latch to it--rocking in orange flashes. A swarm of chants uplift and pivot him... flying a thousand names for not this, nor that... as That. A haunting inheritance whole--ascendant body of mind...transfiguring locus of whitening white...there pardoned of nature, supernatural panache.

Flying a Thousand Names
It’s midnight on June 24th. We’re returning from a “Hot Wax” concert - they were wretched. We’re heading back to Paris tomorrow, so we decided to just stop at the (Kube Hotel) lounge for nightcaps. Everyone was stirred-up and tight as a violin string when we heard that the “Extreme Court” threw out “Roe vs Wade’s” constitutional guarantees - the latest signal of Americas ascendant entropy. Following that, was a ruling that threw out New York’s gun restrictions. “Republicans wear compassion like a costume,” Anna pronounces, “what “right to life” IS there, if every nutcase can walk around with a machine-gun. Haven’t they been watching the news?” Leong, who’s always willing to discuss the superiority of the communist system, susurrates, to no one in particular, “Abortions are legal in China and unless you have a hunting license - guns are illegal.” “Maybe we should move there,” Lisa says, ingenuously, holding up her drink toastingly, her face tinted a gleaming, bourbon gold in reflected light. Returning to our suite, 3 hours later, Sophy’s adopted a mode of travel involving swerves and leaning heavily on things. Which Leong, who was not doing much better, finds hilarious. “Use your signals!” Leong says after barely dodging one of Sophy’s flailing arms. “Two loves I have - of comfort and despair.” Sunny quotes, in her richest, Shakespearian voice. “There’ll be no uncomfortable beds tonight,” I say, searching my bag for my phone, which has the suite key in an attached card-holder. Charles’ room is directly across from ours and I see him shaking his head as both of our doors close. We’ve adopted a motto, “live to exhaustion,” and I think, to myself, that we’re living up to it, as I flop onto my bed and the world goes dark.

I would always favorite some signs over others. I would always say "Oh I'm so glad that I have no gemini in me" or "I'll never have a scorpio baby one day." But after analyzing you, I have learned that you are a little bit of each sign and that is beautiful to me. I've learned that each sign has contributed very special and important traits to craft you just the way you are. I am no longer so close minded towards some signs, you have taught me that beauty can come from any and all of them. I love that you are a Taurus and that I am a Virgo and that that is a great compatibility. I love that we are both Earth signs and stable and practical because of this. I love that your Taurus sun allows you to be patient, calm, and cautiously slow. I love that you live simply and if it's not broken, you don't fix it. I love that your Gemini ascendant is the reason you are so restless and why your eyes wander all over the room and back in a matter of a few seconds. I love that your Gemini moon provides you with a quick intellectual mind and persistency. I love that your Mercury is Taurus provides your constructive mind and your second nature of observing. I love that your Venus in Aries allows you to be strongly sensual and flirtatious. Your Mars in Leo allows your great drive to put your ideas into actions and your warm, lucky personality. Your Jupiter in Sagittarius is why you think big and profit accordingly, and provides your higher mind capacity. Your Saturn in Pisces is your vivid imagination and intuition. Your Uranus in Aquarius is your inventiveness and originality, your wry sense of humor and your unique mind. Your Neptune in Capricorn is why you are extra practical and concrete, and good at Chemistry (your major)! Your Pluto in Scorpio is your tendency towards secrecy, psychic abilities, and passionate side. Mars in your 3rd house is your determination and need to stay active and speak your mind. Jupiter in your 6th house is your success in work, loyalty, and dependability. Pluto in your 6th house is your excellent concentration and intent on seeing results. Neptune in your 8th house is why you are a visionary and you seek to give your life more meaning. Uranus in your 8th house is your unusual outlook on life & death. Saturn in your 10th house is your self-reliance, ambition, perseverance, self discipline, and likelihood of achieving success. Venus in your 11th house is your sociable side and your desire to marry a friend. The Sun in your 12th house is why you enjoy privacy and quiet, you have difficulty expressing yourself, you are only close to a few, and success may come later in life for you. Your Mercury in your 12th house is your tendency to be contemplative, and your ability to work things out for yourself. Your Moon in your 12th house is your sensitive side, your reception and intuition towards others, your tendency to hide your real feelings, your need to get away from others to restore yourself, and your creative imagination.

today i let the dawn arrive for once without trepidation i allow the cool mercurial rays to banish all the woes of night and fill the sails of trailing dreams i have left fluttering in my wake in this new light i am disquieted by a morning chill but resist the comfort of my own arms i refuse to confide in the hunched shoulders and retracted limbs of uncountable years of instinctual defenses today i finally see the beauty in a rising star and allow myself to be seen by the dawn

My apologies Tasmanian Tiger, for the brute carelessness of the Hominid settlers. I was quite aware of you being one of the few marsupials... yes the sworn to be ascendant earthlings are out of pocket. Well I never got to meet you personally but I’m sure you was charged with great energy. Thank you for serving a purpose here on our heavenly body. P.S. maybe one day you’ll arrive again, and maybe us homosapiens will be expunged from this orb.
