"applaud" poems
Humanity i love you because you would rather black the boots of success than enquire whose soul dangles from his watch-chain which would be embarrassing for both parties and because you unflinchingly applaud all songs containing the words country home and mother when sung at the old howard Humanity i love you because when you’re hard up you pawn your intelligence to buy a drink and when you’re flush pride keeps you from the pawn shop and because you are continually committing nuisances but more especially in your own house Humanity i love you because you are perpetually putting the secret of life in your pants and forgetting it’s there and sitting down on it and because you are forever making poems in the lap of death Humanity i hate you

Humanity I Love You
Once more I close my eyes. A violin plays like a blazing fire. I feel calm yet tears cover my eyes. The fire burns through my lungs. I hear the silence of many thoughts. The concerto ends, I applaud. Once more I open my eyes.

self-congratulatory nonsense as the famous gather to applaud their seeming greatness you wonder where the real ones are what giant cave hides them as the deathly talentless bow to accolades as the fools are fooled again you wonder where the real ones are if there are real ones. this self-congratulatory nonsense has lasted decades and with some exceptions centuries. this is so dreary is so absolutely pitiless it churns the gut to powder shackles hope it makes little things like pulling up a shade or putting on your shoes or walking out on the street more difficult near damnable as the famous gather to applaud their seeming greatness as the fools are fooled again humanity you sick ************

We share this theater together And watch the act patiently. We applaud those who perform well, And even louder and harder for those who only had the courage to try. We watch the dancers on the stage, Our youth on stage, Ourselves on stage. It is beautiful. It is raw. It is real. It is not perfect and some will fall, But we all feel together. We lift each other up. It is love. We are all together On the stage as actors, As graceful dancers, And brilliant musicians Performing as one. We are all connected In the audience as proud parents, As loving relatives, And respectful friends, Cheering as one. It is not perfect. It is life, Raw and real. Some will fall, But we all feel together And we’ll lift each other up As one. For ourselves, And for each other.

The Human Connection
He still lives with demons that once held him tenderly when no one would be able to find the words to say that fill the glass as it is tipped back and slowly emptied of the liquor that stirs memories from the headwind that blew the lovers' hair back on the drive through autumn windy, windy mountain paths as another Queen song plays on the radio and the raindrops on the windshield tap along with fingertips against the steering wheel to Freddy Mercury and shared heartbeats. The truth is he is lying there like an open wound as he begins to measure self-worth with texting tempo and memories of last summer being too hot to cuddle with one another though it was more than enough to hold feet under the thin sheets that remember the glass once again filling with words as another drink is emptied and his head burst through clouds leaving him to hydroplane through windy, windy mountain paths as the raindrops on the windshield applaud with the demons that beckon tenderly for his return.

In age of old, in time that pass like tides, When Prometheus lived and Lo! He strived, As thirsting for Heaven, he climbed its hills, and trees, Clenching at the Sun, its spark he seize. The leaves, they warmed, turn bright and evergreen, As Prometheus, he to fierce fire wean, Swell lips sip lightning, of the nascent noon, And divine heat from his hand duly shone, To Roses, who sing, uprise and sweet rebel, In bloom to conquer, vanquish concrete hell. A wish for fire, fulfilled, angered Zeus, He thought the fire be given, not to choose, That excellence with fire, laurel his, "A crime against the Gods Prometheus did." For glory of the light from Heaven sent, The hour of his favour now gone, spent. Smite down the hero, tear ambition down, Old Zeus, but young ambition wears your crown, For daring, striving why not badge of God? The Promethean vision all time hath applaud, It art of upper world, belong in sky, Praise Prometheus as fire goes roving by. Mind gilded by the golden, whirling thread, You seize from Heaven, through the Earth now spread, Bringing hope to hearts, life to the dead, As for forgiveness of the Gods you plead, For an uncriminal act and sublime deed, The arrogance of Zeus? Need not to feed.

I sit and try and be a lotus after killing the third fly of the evening with a pocket book of recipes and a thirty centimetre ruler stolen from bathroom **** measuring contests to our knees. Young professionals tread these boards and I watch, trying to paint them lotus. I listen and learn like I was told to do then clock watch, mop, cycle home to you; I am still trying to be a lotus even in wet shoes and no socks. With less than five-hundred pounds to my various names, an office-chair-cum-clothes-horse, eight USB charging ports and a future that stretches to Sunday’s last reluctant second, I am sitting, trying to be lotus figuring out the professional path David Attenborough heard in his gentleman’s class: that son of a- - I walked into an army recruitment vault with dreams of being Gulliver, though was asked to leave out the cat flap cathedral door back into war as they’d got their laugh and didn’t applaud. Perhaps I should’ve been better at maths where apparently a career can be predicted on a scatter graph, and the pigeons of today were the pigeons of next year and the months that’ll follow the century after that. I am still trying to figure out the hoo-ha of ************ and ring fingers and collar sizes and the inner circles of hyenas when the winter solstice splits the seasons. There is no reason for this lotus procrastination when what’s there to live for but a crooked world and one bandage left.

# There was a time within me I wanted to be an actor beaming on stage or a screen big or small no matter to me after all The exposure is nice I guess and all that kind of stuff but that’s not what drew me to it Just being an actor was enough I enjoy performing and have a memory for lines One of those people who can quote a whole movie It plays in my head can fast forward and rewind But it’s easy to recite the work of another One who already searched within and discovered what to emote the affect and such To replay like a puppet That’s not saying much Could I nail the scene and get the feeling right? When other actors work with me maybe they might get inspired to the point they become lost in the scene We’re reliving the story A fantastic team When the director yells “Cut!” all applaud and cheer Tears in the eyes of some touching memories they hold near The performance The “art” that’s what matters most A singer belting out a song or a comic at a roast The thought of it now gets me giddy and inspired but yet here I sit In my chair I am mired Never took that step Overcoming all that fear My doubts and insecurities Worry how much others care That fear of failure or that I wouldn’t “measure up” A deer frozen in headlights I am forever stuck And as the time continues on The days, and months and years roll by Which is the greater loss? If I failed or never tried? #

“Action!”
to make a scene, even if you're not on stage... it really is your style. i applaud you. bravos! bravos! i thought i was the actor and you the director or more like the puppeteer and i would drag Myself, the puppet along and dance dance to your poorly written songs and recite your pathetic soliloquies amusing how you are trying so hard and all i can think is that this might be the interval and some lunatic got on stage wishing he could be part of all this. but i am really enjoying my ice cream, you know?

In all my iterations, and my frequent reiterations, Introspection reflection, run a muck, I find it unnecessary To talk to God; the reason being quite simple, is It and I are in constant dialogue, nary a pause, chattering Round the clock, 24 seven, night and day, sleep interruptus, I think to myself  God has some nerve, why can't he bother others? in other parts of the world… And so he does! Visitors from far away lands, and languages I do not understand, but applaud their attempts to decipher the English one, that we share in common; if the lands are exotic, the names are more delightfully so, almost ****** It excites and titillates, to greet these kindred souls whose words be greeted by puzzlement, intrigue, like the delight of rediscovering vanilla, it's the same language spoken differently! and god smiles and says: "knew you would eventually speak my soul language!'"

Visitors from far away lands/I never talk to God
Avuncular in his style, jolly and loud An epiphany with an entourage Of functionaries who survey the crowd For any lack of enthusiasm Applaud they must, wearing upon command Cheap slogan tees averring that their school Is like totally awesome and ‘way cool They leap and bounce and cheer as they are told Chanting a theme, this year’s predictable theme Desperately cute, a motivational meme - Oh, those childish, subservient creatures! The worst part is that they are the                                                                    teachers

Dear Leader Inspires His Obedient Comrades
An era of feminism, Which should never be questioned. Empowering women To strive, and strive again. We speak of desexualization. To free the ****** Unveil carnal harassment, And speak our minds. But we can be sightless Toward the sexualization of man. The way we view testosterone As broad shoulders and shirtlessness. Do not sift through my words! I believe in the power feminism. But I am disappointed With the sexualization of man. We're determined to trump the blurred ***** Yet drool over a man in Calvin Klein. We frown upon the "Perfect Body" campaign... But applaud a "built" man. I wish for bodies to be just that: Bodies. For sexualized men and women To be more than carved features.

(Warning: This poem has been de-activated on another site. You must be 18 yrs. old to read this; although we were only 15 then) Way back then, When we were Post-pubescent Boys, We sat in a circle, Not a **** ring, And rhymed our things Like this: You make my **** rock;       You make my thing sing;       You make my **** stink;       You make my log throb;         You make my stick thick;       You make my chub rub; You make my ******* long;   You make my stump jump;   You make my pole roll;         You make my wiener leaner; You make my bone moan;     You make my man stand;       You make my limp primp;     You make my rod applaud; You make my spear smear;     You make my peter sweeter;   You make my one eye cry. And all in unison: You make my hard on. We'd continue with our lines, Til the case was as empty As our rhymes. Them there days of simple joys, Post pubescent Boys with  toys.

What is here so fine!     What does Nigeria define?     True democracy?     Mere literacy?     Good old days we praise     Today's faith we raise     Happiest beings on earth     Survivors, yes from birth     The world's awaited invention     Four Hundred and Nineteen(419) injections     Immune is the world, oh corruption!     Awareness a skin deep innovation     Rich geographical virtues     Hospitable family values     Wealth, milk and honey     Our destiny how sunny     Our hope the pride we know     Fulfilments the future we show     I applaud greatness oh!!     I hate Nigeria, No!!! Sweet eyes and a wavering soul Was going uphill only to fall. Always the girl to answer anyone's help call but to her own troubles everyone stood in applaud. Waiting for her bravery to unfold but what they don't know is what her eyes never told she was on the edge all along see green land and blue skies were never on her mind. but, instead a complex maze she would always design mischievously tricking her own mind. She did it so that a way out was never to find As she locked herself behind her complex golden mind And everyone just stood in applaud cause they thought her own bravery will unfold oh they thought She's strong enough and her own bravery will unfold but the truth is those sweet eyes have gone cold .

bravery will unfold
THERE is a queen in China, or maybe it's in Spain, And birthdays and holidays such praises can be heard Of her unblemished lineaments, a whiteness with no stain, That she might be that sprightly girl trodden by a bird; And there's a score of duchesses, surpassing woma- kind, Or who have found a painter to make them so for pay And smooth out stain and blemish with the elegance of his mind: I knew a phoenix in my youth, so let them have their day. The young men every night applaud their Gaby's laughing eye, And Ruth St. Denis had more charm although she had poor luck; From nineteen hundred nine or ten, Pavlova's had the cry And there's a player in the States who gathers up her cloak And flings herself out of the room when Juliet would be bride With all a woman's passion, a child's imperious way, And there are -- but no matter if there are scores beside: I knew a phoenix in my youth, so let them have their day. There's Margaret and Marjorie and Dorothy and Nan, A Daphne and a Mary who live in privacy; One's had her fill of lovers, another's had but one, Another boasts, "I pick and choose and have but two or three.' If head and limb have beauty and the instep's high and light They can spread out what sail they please for all I have to say, Be but the breakers of men's hearts or engines of delight: I knew a phoenix in my youth, so let them have their day. There'll be that crowd, that barbarous crowd, through all the centuries, And who can say but some young belle may walk and talk men wild Who is my beauty's equal, though that my heart denies, But not the exact likeness, the simplicity of a child, And that proud look as though she had gazed into the burning sun, And all the shapely body no tittle gone astray. I mourn for that most lonely thing; and yet God's will be done: I knew a phoenix in my youth, so let them have their day.

You're living out the married life You're barbie You have achieved marriage And now everybody needs to make way for you dear You still have that after marriage glow That shine Or maybe its the tan from your honeymoon And you're wearing beautiful diamond earrings, Recycled from your wedding You are still the star of the show You are still the only one in the room You have achieved marriage... Applaud, everybody   Your husband? Oh he's irrelevant Just a pixel in the corner of your beautiful life Barbie... Now you will need to learn the ways of the world You can still enjoy your day Or your week Or your month Whatever it is Cause you know it will soon end And so you parade but really just pretend. Your mind is smarter than you She knows this won't last And one day you're going to sit on the couch in your trailer park And yell at the kids And burn in the sun And look at the skin marks, the bruises Your husband left you when he ***** you last night And you will sit in the sun And wait for him And that picket fence you once dreamed of Is now a fiction novel in your mind It doesn't exist, it never has, it never will Not now, not here, in your house And nowhere else, You know this But parade now little girl While you still can Find yourself a rich man Because you know when you are old You will no longer have a purpose And nobody will want you, so they say You will know too much about the world And you wouldn't want to satisfy the rich men like you did before Because you would know all too well What it feels like to be his wife Back home with the kids Back to the trailer Playing same sad song that she danced to on her wedding night You know what its going to feel like when your skin starts falling off your bones like the draped curtains you once wanted You know that day will come dear But at least you have achieved marriage Applaud, everybody... Please...

Please...

Another school, another day The Indian woman makes her way Passing students in the hall To spread her story to them all Another class, another crowd The students here are way too loud The teacher yells, they take their seat But one quiet girl I'd like to meet She sits alone, eyes on her book When I start talking, then she looks A baby deer, she hid her face But the smile I saw was filled with grace My story ends, the kids applaud The deep attention, their facade The bell rings, they clear out fast The lonley girl stands up at last She then came up to shake my hand And show the customs of her land Her shy confidence shining through From the little girl dressed in blue The book she holds is one I wrote My life story, every quote That one connection; very strong I should have known it all along For true happiness is these simple moments- When people truely connect through their Heart, spirit, and mind

An Unexpected Friendship
When the funding is cut So the hospitals shut That’s a Tory When the poverty bites And you lose human rights That’s a Tory Such excess Better reassess Better repossess Better get yourself private healthcare Overtaxed if you work Unemployed? Then you're scrounging on welfare When there’s bigoted views Blatant lies on the news That’s a Tory When the biggest and best Are too rich to arrest That’s a Tory But they’re lax Covering the cracks Never paying tax Claiming everything on expenses They can steal with a smile While they peddle their flimsy defences When they're guilty of fraud And they're banking abroad That's a Tory If they're selling your school When 'austere' means 'cruel' That's a Tory Too much spin Slogan and a grin Wearing pretty thin Bussing people in to applaud them Any law can be bought If you're well off enough to afford them That's all folks and remember, you can't spell Theresa May without heresy **

That’s a Tory (to the tune of That's Amore)
I can dance, I can act, I can sing, I am a clown. Watch me dance and fall down, Laugh at me, Laugh with me, I don't care for I am a clown. Want to hear a joke? Knock, knock and what do you get...? An open door, a busy tent, The ringmaster cracks his whip and on I run with the animals, In time to the beat I tap my feet, I am a clown. I can cry, I can feel, I can laugh, I am a clown. Watch me sweep the spotlight, Applaud when I'm done, Applaud but not in awe, I am a clown. Am I the only person who doesn't get the gag? Am I the only puppet person? Pull my strings and I'll do what you want me to, I am a clown, But I don't feel the laughter that you do, It's hard to laugh - so on with the make-up - a front. Oh, to climb the ladder and do the trapeze, Or walk the high wire, But no! I am a clown, Respect? "Sorry you're a clown." I gave up, I gave in, Gave my all, But I am a clown. Don't bother to watch the tears, Disregard the sad clown, Disregard the talent of farce, "You're a clown, you don't feel." The darkroom is where I belong, On a photo to bring joy, to make people laugh, I make you laugh - I can command you, But I know that when you go home, Your lips won't mention me except to condescend, It's an art! I trained at RADA you know. So home I go, Alone, To a place where I can cry, Into the arms of my wife, See my children run to me, The ones who know me, That's what it's all been for, Now I truly am a smiling clown, It's not so bad as a clown at home.

A Clown
I walked in on shaking legs Hurry away my mind begs But I decide to leap Wishing I was sound asleep Like that last step in the dark Go ahead do it from the heart I quietly begin my song, With luck it will not last too long After a slow beginning I grow and grow I smile and soon somehow I know Their faces are warm like a hot cup of tea I know they see the improvement in me They applaud and they smile Now it’s time to wait for a while
