On Saturday mornings it always was the same my Nan would say come Chris we are going down the lane I would fret want to go to the bathroom but she'd drag me out again knowing what a powder keg she was and thought her rather insane It did not matter how big they were she had ***** of steel if someone crossed her path they would come off ill I was mortified by her temper, my word but she was strong I have seen her throw hard men right over my head and they were gone Now at this not so tender age I am now I understand who I am just another dangerous creature like my sweet old Nan By Christos Andreas Kourtis aka NeonSolaris

Going To Market With Nan
Never relent to reach your dreams never fall at the first fence be brave and fight on think everyone not your enemy Stand fast and never yield be strong for the time of deliverance be a child of the stars so vast with hard work and perseverance Go by the beat of the drum know that enlightenment is within you be as we, stride on freely for I truly believe that you can really do (Poem For Larna Kira Kourtis) By Christos Andreas Kourtis aka NeonSolaris

1. Had you a viral video, you’d watch it more than once. 2. Instagram hearts make you smile, even from strangers. 3. Which would you rather: *** or Zuckerberg friending you on Facebook. No, this isn’t a Cosmo quiz — it’s a social experiment. Because no one ACTUALLY answers these questions honestly without looking like that ****** at the pool trying to get as MANY high fives as possible. Yet, we all do it. Alone or in public. Day or night. LED screen spice up our lives. It was probably best embodied by that girl taking selfie after   selfie after selfie after selfie, filmed for minutes on the way to school, the video soon posted, by her dad trying to teach  her a lesson? Or trying to get attention? Either way, he might as well have hashtagged it #socialsuicide. Like most humor we laughed at her because we are her. We see a dripping characterture ************ to itself in public. Wait, it, sounds wrong when you name it. But there is a name for it: Digital ************ aka Self-adoration aka Narcississism. You won’t agree that you do it too. But I’ll bet most of you get excited thinking about notifications too. Why is that? You’d never admit it. You can say I smelt it, so I dealt it. Call me a preacher, a hater, or a hypocrit. But I'd rather you call me a digital masterbater too. And then remember the last time you opened Instagram or Facebook or Twitter and took a selfie or hashtagged something or posted a status that your still breathing. How long has it been — a minute, an hour, a day? Now try making fun of her.

I think it's crazy that they want me to type an essay over deforestation for a score or practice or to better my writing. That's 60 more minutes I'm wasting of my life. They say that sooner or later everything we do we will do with technology. So here I am now writing this essay that's supposed to be about deforestation and the effects and consequences. We are not discussing the issue. We are sitting in wooden chairs with our computers sitting on our wooden desks surrounded by wooden bookcases. So much irony right? I seem to be the only one to notice anyways. We come here seven hours a day, do hours of homework, "study" the information, aka memorize regurgitate then forget all of it. This is not teaching us. We are not learning anything useful to help us live. It's all numbers and words that do not matter to me. If anyone thinks that all us kids come to school to learn they're wrong and if they think that the teachers come to teach they're even more wrong. We come to pass class after class so we can leave and actually make something of ourselves. The teachers come because they have to for the money. They do not care about us or our feelings. They put all this pressure on us to be the best we can be which really means make a good grade. I've been silent for so long now. Not expressing my feelings towards much of anything. Also toward the reason I have to wake up at five every morning to be around people I do not even like. I feel as though the education system is unfair and cruel and does not take into consideration what the kids who go through this cycle everyday think. So that's what I think about deforestation.

The scars are there but they are hidden on the inside Makes it easier for us to hide They are not very pretty but have learned to live alongside Sometimes buried deep Sometimes buried beneath...... Life is made up of darkness and light What matters most is how We choose to act on this Sometimes dark takes us for a spin Then light finds us and cuts right in We choose to believe there is still beauty in this world Bad stuff in life happens But guess what? We are still here There is always going to be darkness Just look to the light when you can Don't let life weigh you down We can always begin again Darkness doesn't have to be the end Not when you have a sister....a unique connection and poetic friend *Love to you my sister/poetic friend K aka Ghost of Jupiter*

There is a young lady called Anna. She is a loner. She lives alone with her two cats. They are her world. I am a cat lover myself and have 2 little cuties in my nest. But these cats are just plain feral. They terrorise the other cats in the neighbourhood and **** in all the neighbours’ garden. She works Monday to Friday for a recruitment company. She leaves her flat in a purple Mazda convertible which is renowned for being a Hairdresser’s (AKA dumb **** car. Every day she leaves at 7.30am on the dot and every day she arrives home at 7.15pm on the dot. Once at home she turns on her TV cinema system (sub), just to watch the TV. ***** At the weekend she also leaves her stinking putrid ******* bags out in the communal hallway. ***** She ignores her neighbour’s knocking on her door. She ignores the notes that they put through her letterbox. ***** So as Anna was not willing to speak to her neighbours directly. They had no other way to turn apart from to report her to Environmental Health for playing her TV cinema system (sub) too loudly and also for the disgusting ******* that she regularly leaves out in the communal hallway. ***** In which she returns the compliment by reporting them (said neighbours) to the Environmental Health for: 1) Shouting at each other, 2) Talking too loudly, 3) Banging kitchen utensils on the floor when she is in her kitchen How deluded is this ***** At the same time that her neighbours reported Anna to the Environmental Health they also spoke to the Community Support Officer. They advised them to contact the Mediators in their local area. Which of course they did. The Mediators arranged to visit one evening. Unbeknownst to them they parked in Anna’s allocated parking space. Once they had finished with her neighbours, the Mediators returned to their car. Just as they were about to reverse their car, Anna arrived home in her Mazda convertible and blocked them in. ***** When she got out of the Mazda convertible, with attitude I might add, she asked the Mediators who they were. They then introduced themselves. Once she knew who they were, she invited them into her flat to hear her side on the story. YES I AM HER ******* NEIGHBOUR AND YES I AM STILL WAITING TO HEAR BACK FROM THE MEDIATORS……

He slumped onto the barbedwire thinking of the end in no man's land his uniform grey with ash his army colours now blind to all From out of a trench he had dashed but dying no hero by the call of a whistle just a name in a thankless world war that in a thousand more years will have tragically so many tears No Poppy will grow here whilst the bombs and gunfire go on this land will not settle with killing machines of metal So he is dying with his blood and pride yet not in a land for butterflies he looks at his loves stained photograph in his last breath gasps, Poppy my Poppy By Christis Andreas Kourtis aka NeonSolaris

My Hamster Has Asthma
~ June 2023 HP Poet: Patty Mager Country: USA Question 1: Welcome to the HP Spotlight, Patty. Please tell us about your background? Patty M: "I was born an only child in a 3 generation household. I loved books, and playing imaginary games, and chasing my mom with really long nightcrawlers, my Grandpa raised in a washtub. I was a banker, and a financial banker for many years. I quit to do hospice for my Dad when he was to go into hospice. My husband had heart problems and my little Mom eventually got Cancer. So I nursed and loved them all. My Dad for a year, the others over an 8-year period. I saw the transition of each and the way each handled their ending, and I was there for them all. I consider that a special blessing." Question 2: How long have you been writing poetry, and for how long have you been a member of Hello Poetry? Patty M: "I always wrote, but I found a poetry site 20 years ago, and began to write seriously. I've been published in many anthologies both in the US and abroad. I was nominated for the coveted Pushcart Prize twice and I once had a three-page spread in our local newspaper. I came to HP in 2014 and I love this special place with amazingly wonderful poets who have become really great friends." Question 3: What inspires you? (In other words, how does poetry happen for you). Patty M: "Sometimes poems seem to write themselves, almost like automatic writing." Question 4: What does poetry mean to you? Patty M: "Poetry is spiritual, and a lifesaving rope that carries me through both good and the horrible times of my life." Question 5: Who are your favorite poets? Patty M: "My favorite Poets are: Sylvia Plath, Neruda, Billy Collins, Maya Angelou, Poe, Ginsberg, Anne Sexton, and Longfellow." Question 6: What other interests do you have? Patty M: "I love to cook, do crossword puzzles, read, and play card games like canasta, and spider solitaire. Being with family is my heaven." Carlo C. Gomez: “Thank you so much for allowing me to interview you, dear Patty! I learned a great deal about you!” Patty M: "Thank again Carlo. Thanks so much for all your help and kindness." Thank you everyone here at HP for taking the time to read this. We hope you enjoyed getting to know Patty a little bit better. I indeed did. It is our wish that these spotlights are helping everyone to further discover and appreciate their fellow poets. – Carlo C. Gomez (aka Mr. Timetable) We will post Spotlight #5 in July! ~

I may hate you more tomorrow , but i'll never love you less for you're the one person i can always count on , you're simply the best and everyone who knows us predicted we won't last a sec it's like we're the opposite end of a spectrum, yet a single entity violating the norms of this hypocritical society simple, yet so **intriguing ** And girl , we go on so well together like bread and butter like milkshake and cookies YOU'RE THE MELODY..TO MY LYRICS and God only knows, the inspiration behind how many songs! the ones i've lost and also the ones i carry in my heart And without Nancy(my bestie) , where would Aditi(me) be? without you ...well that just can't be you're always sure of somethings, like the sun will always rise, that's the way you make me feel you're probably the only thing ..that drags me to the boring premises of dav{my school} (also the fact that 75%attendance is required but you get the idea) and looking at you , and looking at me .. and looking at the **** and crazy stuffs we do and we did i wonder how effortless it is how the kind of girl i'm ..everything looks scary to me but you just make it better somehow ,without even doing a thing and sometimes, i get this blurry pic of you and I we're close to being 75 silver hair , wrinkled cheeks sitting on a park bench, eating(that's her aka my bestie's favorite thing..eating) talking about the same old senseless thing and looking at each other with contempt and say "hey ,we made it to the end♥ "

Sitting past the reeds upon a willow tree the kingfisher surveys his watery larder With keen polaroid eyes a victim he spies and measuring distance he makes his next move A flicker in thought his blue metallic wings now do go into action such a beautiful thing Down from the branches wings folded back he darts into the stream by the banks waters edge The minnow that was hunting has now become the hunted and out of crystal waters the kingfisher is victorious Out of the stream with feathers to preen after a hearty fill of minnow and bream By Christos Andreas Kourtis aka NeonSolaris

morning **** sessions
The air was crisp and clean and clear, The huntsman knew his time had come. He gathered all equipment and gear. Then shined and polished his gun. He took a step, his boots polished black. To his tiny little wife he blew a kiss back Off, he was, to capture his prized buck. She waved goodbye wishing him luck. He got to his post, stood there and waited. Patiently, with his traps he had baited. For a time he remained quiet and still. This kind of game was his kind of thrill. Lo and behold, with rage and adrenaline A perfect opportunity made its rise. He steadied his rifle, an expert marksman. He shot the young buck between its eyes. In a moment it was done And the huntsman had won. The poor creature had no chance to fight. It had fallen to the earth No cry made it's birth A silent victim in the night. Time had come for homebound journey, With the sun setting on both heads. Only one of them back with family, The other became family's dread. The huntsman took his brand new trophy And hung high the brown skinned creature. Hand in hand with his wife he stood boldly "I was the one to end this ******

the Huntsman and His Prey (aka A Hate Crime)
As we transcend from the perfumed gardens my hot lips climb your mount of venus and by your belly button I breath hotly on you and lay a kiss I know I pretend to be prim and hawlty but keep my secret, that I bite naughty People would think me a ***** monger a ****** beast with a unquenchable desire I rive and burn with anticipation just to feel skin against skin I'd do you and her to, it's my fault that I do bite naughty I look deep into your eyes as I move up ever forward I reach your temple lips and there I lay my hypnotic kiss laying where you are my beauty as I bite you naughty By Christos Andreas Kourtis aka NeonSolaris
