Ang kwento natin ay binuo sa gitna ng maling sitwasyon at maling pagkakataon.

High school.

Magkaibigan tayo noon.
Nagsasabihan ng problema, umiiyak sa isa't isa.
Kabisado mo ako, at kabisado na rin kita.
Tantya ko ang birong magpapatawa sayo at tantya ko rin naman ang tamang kiliti upang mawala ang galit mo.

Nakahanap tayo sa isa't isa ng kanlungan at hingahan sa nakakasulasok na mundo.

Lumapit at patuloy pang napalapit ang loob ko sa'yo, at ikaw sa akin. Hindi ko na rin namalayan na mahal na pala kita. Taguan ng nararamdaman ang nilaro natin ng ilang buwan. Totoo, laking gulat ko rin sa sarili ko kung paano ako nahulog sa'yo. Dahil ang katulad mo ay isang dyosa na hindi ko dapat lapitan, hagkan, o kahit hawakan man lang. Hanggang ang simpleng tingin ay naging mga titig, mga haplos lang dapat sa kamay ay naging mga kapit, at magkatabi lamang ngunit iba ang dikit.

Napuno ang puso ko ng pagmamahal at umabot na ito sa pagsabog. Naglahad ng nararamdaman, nagbabakasakaling pareho ang 'yong nadarama.

Pero mas laking gulat ko nang sabihin **** mahal mo rin ako. At isa 'yon sa pinaka masayang araw ng buhay ko.

Simula noon ay araw araw nang hawak ang iyong kamay, inaamoy ang iyong buhok, nagpapalitan ng mga mensahe, kinakantahan; ginagawa ang lahat upang mapakita lang sayo.. na mahal kita. Pero higit sa mga pinakita natin sa isa't isa ay mas tumimbang ang mga hindi natin pinakita ngunit pinadama.

Hawak ko ang buwan at ang mga bituin kapag kasama kita ngunit bakit ba kapag tayo'y masaya ay talagang lungkot ang susunod.

Nalaman ng mga magulang mo kung ano ang meron tayo. Hindi ko noon inasahan na ang mga susunod na mga linggo at buwan ay ang pinaka madilim na parte ng buhay ko. Dahil ang kwento natin ay binuo sa gitna ng maling sitwasyon at maling pagkakataon.

Papasok ka sa eskwela ng mapula ang mata at may pasa sa braso. Ngunit ang mas pumapatay sa akin ay ang ngiti sa labi mo. Mga ngiting hindi ko masabing peke dahil totoo. Dahil ba masaya kang makita ako kahit na ang sakit na nararamdaman mo ay dahil sa pagmamahal ko? Hindi nanlamig ang pagmamahal natin dahil sa kung ano mang ginawa natin sa loob ng relasyon. Kundi ang lamig ng pataw ng galit ng mas nakatatanda sa atin. At ang mas masakit ay hindi pa natin kayang lumaban.

Ang hindi mo alam ay walang lumipas na araw na hindi rin ako umiyak sa harap ng ating mga kaibigan, sa harap ng salamin, sa harap ng isang ****, sa harap ng mga matang nangungusap at ang sabi ay...

"may isang pagmamahalan na naman ang namatay."

Pinatay sa gitna ng saya, pinatay sa gitna ng ligaya, pinatay sa gitna ng magandang paglago.

Pinatay tayo ng tadhana. Pinatay tayo ng mga taong walang tiwala. Pinatay tayo ng mga taong ang  tingin sa atin ay mga isip-bata. Oo, tayo'y mga bata pa noon ngunit alam ko, alam ko na ang pag-ibig na 'yon ay totoo.

Nagsimula ka ng hindi pumasok sa eskwela. At kung ilang oras kitang hindi nakita sa iyong upuan ay ganon ding haba ng oras ng aking pagiyak sa likod ng silid. Sinisisi ang sarili sa kung bakit ganito at bakit ganyan. Bakit ganito ang tadhana? Bakit ganyan ang pag-ibig? At makikita nila sa mga luha ko na lumuluha na rin ito dahil sa patuloy na pagpatak, bagsak sa kahoy na upuan. At mas lalong bumabagsak ang luha ko dahil hindi ko alam kung anong nangyayari sayo. Sinasaktan ka ba? Umiiyak ka rin ba? Mahal mo pa ba ako? Kung pwede lang hugasan ng luha ang mga tanong ay kakayanin, dahil sa dami ay kayang anurin ang mga ito.

Ilang linggo pa ay hindi na tayo nakapag usap, pumapasok ka ngunit ang kaya lang nating gawin ay maghawak ng kamay. Dahil kalakip ng mga salita ay patak ng luha. Kaya tinakpan natin lahat ng ito ng hawak sa kamay, patong ng ulo sa balikat, yakap. At hindi ko inasahan na huli na pala 'yon. Dahil tapos na ang taong 2011-2012 ng eskwela. At hindi na kita nakita; ni anino, ni bagong larawan mo, sa loob ng maraming taon.

Ang meron lang ako ay ang manila paper na binigay mo sa kaibigan natin para ibigay sa akin. Na nagpaisip sa akin na sana, sana man lang ay nakita kita bago mo inabot ang pinaka mahabang mensahe na nabasa ko, mula sa pagiibigang pinilit na pinapatay.

Pagkatapos ng mga tagpong iyon, nalaman kong lilipat ka na ng eskwela sa susunod na taon. At parang 'yon na ang nagpa manhid sa pusong meron ako noon. O kung meron pa ba ako non noon. Dahil sa ilang linggo at buwan ng pinaka madilim na parte ng buhay ko ay unti-unti na pala itong nabasag, nawala, at nadurog.

Ilang taon rin bago ito nabuo o nabuo nga ba talaga ito. Ilang taon din akong nagmahal ng walang puso, dahil utak ang ginamit ko. Doon ko nasabi na ang pagmamahal ko sayo ay ang unang pagmamahal ko sa una kong puso.

Ilang taon akong nagpagaling, nakahanap ng kanlungan sa iba, kasayahan, kakumpletuhan, kabuuan.

Sa likod ng aking isip ang tanong na, "Nasaan na kaya s'ya?"

Hindi naaalis sa mga inuman ng barkada ang mga tanong na, "Saan na s'ya? Nakita mo na ba 'yon ulit?" Alam kong ramdam din nila, na kahit ano ang isagot ko ay may marka 'yon sa puso ko.

"Nakita ko s'ya sa Fatima ah."

"Nakakasalubong ko 'yon ah."

At kahit ilan pang pahapyaw ng mga tropa ang magpaalala ng ikaw ay may sakit pa rin. Kahit hindi ko ipakita, ramdam.

Walong taon.

Walong taon ang lumipas ng muli tayong magusap.
Kamusta?
Maayos naman,
Ikaw?
Okay lang din.

At para bang binalot muli ang puso ko ng muling pagkawasak mula noong umpisa.

At tila ba hindi pa pala natapos ang istorya natin sa nakalipas na walong taon, hindi pa pala namatay ang 2012 na bersyon ng mga sarili natin.

Nagusap tayo. Pero 'yon pala ang mali natin. Na kaya pala hindi na tayo nagusap hanggang sa mga huling sandali ng pagkikita natin ay alam nating ang mga salita ay katumbas ng luha, at ang mga salita ay katumbas ng sakit, at ang mga salita ay katumbas ng muling pagwawakas.

Apat na libo tatlong daan at walumput tatlong milya ang layo natin sa isa't isa. Muli, ang parte ng kwentong ito ay nabuo na naman sa gitna ng maling sitwasyon at maling pagkakataon.

At ang pinaka masakit sa lahat at ang punit sa kwento nating dalawa ay meron na akong iba. Dahil alam kong hindi kita nahintay, at sana malaman **** hindi ka rin naman nagparamdam. Ang kwento nating dalawa ay masyadong naging komplikado dahil sa iba't ibang kamalian ng sitwasyon at pagkakataon.

At alam kong sa pagkakataon na ito ay hindi na dapat natin ito sisihin, dahil ang kamalian ay nasa atin nang dalawa. Kung paanong naging sobrang huli na pala, o sobrang aga pa pala.

Ang kwento nating dalawa ay maaaring dito na matatapos ngunit ayoko naman ding magsalita ng tapos, kagaya ng nangyari matapos ang walong taon, biglang nabuksan ang kwento. At hindi ko alam kung ilang taon ulit, o talagang tapos na.

Pero kagaya nga ng sabi mo, ito ang ang paborito **** kwento sa lahat, at oo, ako rin. Ang kwentong ito ay magsasalin salin pa sa inuman, sa kwentuhan, sa simpleng halinghingan, kwentong bayan; na may isang lalaki at babae na nagmahalan kahit pa pinilit itong patayin at makipag patayan. Isang kwentong puno ng kawasakan, at patuloy na pinaglaruan ng tadhana. Tapos na nga ba ang pahina? Muli, kagaya ng nakalipas na walong taon, ang sagot ay oo. Ngunit ang kwento ay buhay pa, at patuloy na mabubuhay pa sa puso ko.

Spiritual scholars of Christian Science have a concept that there is
power in the name. They at most identify the name Jesus and the name
of God, Jehovah to be the most powerful names in the spiritual realm.
But in the world of literature and intellectual movement, art,
science, politics and creativity, the name Alexander is mysteriously
powerful. Averagely, bearers of the name Alexander achieve some unique
level of literary or intellectual glory, discover something novel or
make some breakaway political victories.

Among the ancient and present-day Russians, most bearers of the name
Alexander were imbued with some uniqueness of intellect, leadership or
literary mighty. Beginning with the recent times of Russia, the first
mysterious Alexander is the 1700 political reformist and effective
leader, Tsar Alexander and his beautiful wife, tsarina Alexandrina.
The couple transformed Russian society from pathetic peasantry to a
middle class society. It is Tsar Alexander’s leadership that lain a
foundation for Russian socialist revolution. Different scholars of
Russian history remember the reign of Tsar Alexander with a strong

bliss. This is what made the Lenin family to name their son Alexander
an elder brother to Vladimir Ilyanovsk Ilyich Lenin. This was done as
parental projection through careful   choice of a mentor for their
young son. Alexander Lenin was named after this formidable ruler; Tsar
Alexander. Alexander Lenin was a might scholar. An Intellectual and
political reformist. He was a source of inspiration to his young
brother Vladimir Ilyich Lenin, who became the Russian president after
his brother Alexander, had died through political assassination.
However, researches into distinctive prowess of these two brothers
reveal that Alexander Lenin was more gifted intellectually than
Vladimir Lenin.

Alexander Pushkin, another Russian personality with intellectual,
cultural, theatrical and   literary consenguences. He was a
contemporary of Alexander pope. He is the main intellectual influence
behind Nikolai Vasileyvich Gogol and very many other Russian writers.
He is to Russians what Shakespeare is to English speakers or victor
Hugo is to French speakers, Friedriech schiller and Frantz Kafka is to
Germany readers or Miguel de Cervantes to the Spaniards. Among English
readers, Shakespeare’s drama of king Lear is a beacon of English
political theatre, while Hugo’s Les miscerables is an apex of French
social and political literature, but Pushkin’s Boris Godunov, a
theatrical political satire, technically towers above the peers. For
your point of information my dear reader; there has been a
commonaplace false convention among English literature scholars that,
William Shakespeare in conjunction with Robert Greene wrote and
published highest number of books, more than anyone else. The factual
truth is otherwise. No, they only published 90 works, but Pushkin
published 700 works.
Equally glorious is Alexander Vasileyvich sholenstsyn,the, the, the
author of I will be on phone by five, Cancer Ward, Gulag Archipelago’
and the First Cycle. He is a contemporary of Leo Tolstoy, Fyodor
Dostoyevsky, Alfred Nobel and Maxim Gorky. Literary and artistic
excellence of Alexander Sholenstsyn,the, the anti-communist Russian
novelist was and is still displayed through his mirroring of a corrupt
Russian communist politics, made him a debate case among the then
committee members for Nobel prize and American literature prize, but

Which he wrote as sequel five years later to the previous novel the
Cancer Ward whose main theme is despair among cancer patients in the
Russian hospitals. This was simply a satirical way of expressing agony
of despair among the then political prisoners at Siberia concentration
camps .In its reaction to this communist front to capitalist
literature through the glasnost machinery, the Washington government
ordered chalice Chaplin an American pro-communist writer to be out of
America within 45 minutes.
Alexander’s; Payne, Pato, Petrovsky, and Pires are intellectual
torchbearers of the world and Russian literary civilization. Not to
forget, Alexander Popov, a poet and Russian master brewer, whose
liquor brand ‘Popov’ is the worldwide king of bar shelves?
In 1945 the Russians had very brutish two types of guns, designed to
shoot at long range with very little chances of missing the target.
These guns are; AK 47 and the Molotov gun. They were designed to
defeat the German **** and later on to be used in international
guerrilla movement. The first gun AK 47 was designed by Alexander
klashilinikov and the second by Alexander Molotov. These are the two
Alexander’s that made milestones in history of world military
technology.
The name Alexander was one of the titles or the epithet used to be
given to the Greek goddess Hera and as such is taken to mean the one
who comes to save warriors. In Homer’s epical work; the Iliad, the
most dominant character Paris who often saved the other warriors was
also known also as Alexander. This name’s linkage to popularity was
spread throughout the Greek world by the military maneuvers and
conquests of King Alexander III. Alexander III is commonly known as
Alexander the Great .  Evidently; the biblical book of Daniel had a
prophecy. It was about fall of empires down to advent of Jesus as a
final ruler. The prophecy venerated Roman Empire above all else. As
well the, prophecy magnified military brilliance, intellect and
leadership skills of the Greek, Alexander the great, the conqueror of
Roman Empire. Alexander the great was highly inspired by the secret
talks he often held with his mother. All bible readers and historians
have reasons to believe that Alexander of Greece was powerful,
intellectually might, strong in judgment and a political mystery and
enigma that remain classic to date.
In his book Glimpses of History, jewarlal Nehru discusses the Guru
Nanak as an Indian religious sect, Business Empire, clan, caste, and
an intellectual movement of admirable standard that shares a parrell
only with the Aga Khans. Their   founder is known, as Skander Nanak
.The name skander is an Indian version for Alexander. Thus, Alexander
Nanak is the founder of Guru Nanak business empire and sub Indian
spiritual community. Alexander Nanak was an intellectual, recited
Ramayana and Mahabharata off head; he was both a secular and religious
scholar as well as a corporate strategist.
The American market and industrial civilsations has very many
wonderful Alexander’s in its history. The earliest known Alexander in
American is Hamilton, the poet, writer, politician and political
reformist. Hamilton strongly worked for establishment of American
constitution. Contemporaries of Hamilton are; Alexander graham bell
and Alexander flemming.bell is the American scientist who discovered a
modern electrical bell, while Fleming, A Nobel Prize Laureate
discovered that fungus on stale bread can make penicillin to be used
in curing malaria. Other American Alexander’s are; wan, Ludwig,
Macqueen, Calder and ovechikin.
Italian front to mysterious greatness in the name Alexander
spectacularly emanates from science of electricity which has a
measuring unit for electrical volume known as voltage. The name of
this unit is a word coined from the Italian name Volta. He was an
Italian scientist by the name Alesandro Volta. Alesandro is an Italian
version for Alexander. Therefore it is Alexander Volta an Italian
scientist who discovered volume of electrical energy as it moves along
the cable. Thus in Italian culture the name Alexander is also a
mystery.
Readers of European genre and classics agree that it is still
enjoyfull to read the Three Musketeers and the Poor Christ of
Montecristo for three or even more times. They are inspiring, with a
depth of intellectual character, and classic in lessons to all
generations. These two classics were written by Alexander Dumas, a
French literary genious.he lived the same time as Hugo and
Dostoyevsk.when Hugo was writing the Hunch-back of Notredame Dumas was
writing the Three Musketeers. These two books were the source of
inspiration for Dostoyevsky to write Brothers Karamazov. Another
notable European- *** -American Alexander is  Alexander pope, whose
adage ‘short knowledge is dangerous,’ has remained a classic and ever
quoted across a time span of two centuries. Alexander pope penned this
line in the mid of 1800 in his poem better drink from the pyrene
spring.

In the last century colleges, Universities and high schools in Kenya
and throughout Africa, taught Alexander la Guma and Alexander Haley as
set- book writers for political science, literature and drama courses.

Alexander Forbes was an English-American mathematician. The lesson
about Forbes is that mystery within the name Alexander makes it to be
the brand of corporate actuarial practice in Africa and the entire
world.
Something hypothetical and funny about this name Alexander is that its
dictionary definition is; homemade brandy in Russia, just the way the
east African names; Wamalwa, Wanjoi and Kimaiyo are used among the
Bukusu, Agikuyu and Kalenjin communities of Kenya respectively. More
hypothetical is the lesson that the short form of Alexander is Alex;
it is not as spiritually consequential in any manner as its full
version Alexander. The name Alex is just plain without any powers and
spiritual connotation on the personality and character of the bearer.
The name Alexander works intellectual miracles when used in full even
in its variants and diminutives as pronounced in other languages that
are neither English nor Greece. Presumably the - ander section of the
name (Alex)ander is the one with life consequences on the history of
the bearer. Also, it is not clear whether they are persons called
Alexander who are born bright and gifted or it is the name Alexander
that conjures power of intellect and creativity on them.
In comparative historical scenarios this name Alexander has been the
name of many rulers, including kings of Macedon, kings of Scotland,
emperors of Russia and popes, the list is infinite. Indeed, it is bare
that when you poke into facts from antiques of politics, religion and
human diversity, there is rich evidence that there is substantial
positive spirituality between human success and social nomenclature in
the name of Alexander. Some cases in archaic point are available in a
listological exposition of early rulers on Wikipedia. Some names on
Wikipedia in relation to the phenomenon of Alexanderity are: General
Alexander; more often known as Paris of Troy as recounted by Homer in
his Iliad. Then ensues a plethora; Alexander of Corinth who was the
10th king of Corinth , Alexander I of Macedon, Alexander II of
Macedon, Alexander III of Macedonia alias  Alexander the Great. There
is still in the list in relation to Macedonia, Alexander IV  and
Alexander V. More facts of the antiques have   Alexander of Pherae who
was the despotic ruler of Pherae between 369 and 358 before the Common
Era. The land of Epirus had Alexander I the king of Epirus about 342
before the Common Era and Alexander II  the king of Epirus 272 before
the Common Era. A series of other Alexander’s in the antiques is
composed of ; Alexander the  viceroy of Antigonus Gonatas and also the
ruler of a **** state based on Corinth in 250 before the common era,
then Alexander Balas, ruler of the Seleucid kingdom of Syria between
150 and 146 before the common era . Next in the list is  Alexander
Zabinas the ruler of part of the Seleucid kingdom of Syria based in
Antioch between 128 and 123  before the common era ,  then Alexander
Jannaeus king of Judea, 103 to 76  before the common era  and last but
not least  Alexander of Judaea  son of Aristobulus  II the  king of
Judaea .  The list of Alexander’s in relation to the antiquated  Roman
empire are; Alexander Severus, Julius Alexander who lived during the
second  century as the Emesene nobleman, Then next is Domitius
Alexander the Roman usurper who declared himself emperor in 308. Next
comes Alexander the emperor of Byzantine. Political antiques of
Scotland have Alexander I , Alexander II and Alexander III of Scotland
. The list cannot be exhausted but it is only a testimony that there
are a lot of Alexander’s in the antiques of the world.
Religious leadership also enjoys vastness of Alexander’s. This is so
among the Christians and non Christians, Catholics and Protestants and
even among the charismatic and non-charismatic. These historical
experiences start with Alexander kipsang Muge the Kenyan Anglican
Bishop who died in a mysterious accident during the Kenyan political
dark days of Moi. But when it comes to  The antiques  catholic
pontifical history, there is still a plethora of them as evinced on
Wikipedia ; Pope Alexander I , Alexander of Apamea also the  bishop of
Apamea, Pope Alexander II ,Pope Alexander III, Pope Alexander IV, Pope
Alexander V, Pope Alexander VI, Pope Alexander VII, Pope Alexander
VIII, Alexander of Constantinople the bishop of Constantinople , St.
Alexander of Alexandria also the  Coptic Pope and Patriarch of
Alexandria between  then Pope Alexander II of Alexandria the  Coptic
Pope  and lastly Alexander of Lincoln the bishop of Lincoln and
finally  Alexander of Jerusalem.
However, the fact of logic is inherent in the premise that there is
power in the name .An interesting experience I have had is that; when
Eugene Nelson Mandela ochieng was kidnapped in Nairobi sometimes ago,
a friend told me that there is power in the name. The name Mandela on
a Nairobi born Luo boy attracts strong fortune and history making
eventualities towards the boy, though fate of the world interferes,
the boy Eugene Mandela ochieng is bound to be great, not because he
was kidnapped but because he has an assuring name Nelson Mandela. With
extension both in Africa and without ,May God the almighty add all
young Alexander’s to the traditional list of other great and
formidable  Alexander’s that came before. Amen.

Suspected of attack
On fascist Graziani
He was in house arrest
As the case was with
Suspects the rest.

A prisoner of war
Then  via Somalia
He was sent to Rome
Found a black lion
If left at home.


Together with
A prison inmate
From Yugoslavia
Called Julio
He made a rope
Out of a blanket
The reason
To descend down
And escape
From a tower prison.

In a show of contempt
Defying  officials' attempt
To smoke out a fugitive
On the hide
The two at eventide
Returned to open fire
And attack guards
To set  free prisoners
Indeed, victory was
On their side.

Leading  partisans
Abdissa made it his duty
To gruel fascists
With insurgent activity.

What was the outcome?
Parallel to the allied forces
When he entered Rome
With Ethiopia's tricolor
Around his wrist
He was accorded
A warm welcome.

Then he turned his face
To allied-forces'-
'For Berlin' race
In rooting out **** troops
He spurred the pace!

Asked to stay in Europe
He said shalom
"Home sweet home!
As written on the bible
Can an Ethiopian change
His skin
or a leopard its spots?
Doing so
Will it not be a sin?"

The unsung hero
Returned to Addis
Turning Fascist and Nazis'
Wild dreams to zero!
He is one of the black lions of Ethiopia. He demonstrated Ethiopians' heroism beyond Africa's perimeter. My poem indomitable Ethiopia is in the same wavelength.
The Unsnag Hero
Abdissa Aga was born in south western Ethiopia in a province called Welega.
It was when he was 14 he joined the Ethiopian defense force.
In 1935 when fascist Italy that was armed to the teeth with modern arsenals baptized the country with banned poisonous gas conducting innumerable sorties, he decided to reinforce the fight in defense of his motherland.
But Abdissa sustained injuries and ended up in a hospital. Later, he was subjected to house arrest around Piazza, his residential area.
After Ethiopian patriots’ attempt to assassin Rodolfo Graziani , whom Italy assigned to administer Ethiopia, suspected of involvement in the plot, Abdissa was once more detained along with 37 house-arrested Ethiopians.
After a gruesome time in prison, via Somalia, and then under the jurisdiction of fascist Italy, he was sent to Rome as a prisoner of war.
There he was under scrutiny. Along with another captive from Yugoslavia called Hulio, he was designing different plans to escape from the prison.
One day making a rope out of his blanket and descending down the tower prison he managed to escape. But, instead of becoming a fugitive on the run, returning back late at night to the prison and opening fire on the guards he let the prison inmates free to flee.
In so doing, he demonstrated valor is a virtue Ethiopians need borrow from nowhere. The unfolding carried across the message Ethiopians’ military prowess is not only showcased in Adwa but also in Italy.
Teaming up the prisoners from different countries he set free as partisans, he pressed ahead with waging fierce attacks on Italian troops in their own country. He was beating them by the rule of their own game.
As they knew Ethiopians’ heroism starting from Adwa they became very much afraid of him. In numerous engagements with them he did emerge victorious. He kept on ambushing and surprising the fascist troops.
Offering him different allurements they were sweet talking him to join ranks with the Italian army. He turned a deaf ear to their requests making clear joining a fascist force is a treason committed on own country.
When World War II broke out he joined the tide against the Axis powers.
United State of America and English were fighting with Italy that was supporting **** Germany. Stunned by Abdissa’s heroism they saw it fit to ask him to join the allied forces. Making use of this support , beefing up the muscle of his army he did a great job in disarraying fascist troops in their own country.
After the ignominious defeat of fascist troops, when the English and US forces entered into Rome he followed suit with an array of his fighters that tried Ethiopia’s flag round their wrist. When he, on par with the rank of a general, made a divine entrance into Rome hovering high Ethiopia’s flag  he was accorded a warm welcome by the allied forces.
Next he played quite a role in vanquishing **** forces when the allied forces mounted attack on **** Germany. He was still hovering high Ethiopia’s flag in liberating many Germany towns being pulverized in the crossfire. He played incalculable role in combing out brutal **** troops.
Promising handsome rewards the allied forces did try to persuade him to join them. But Abdissa put down his foot. He made clear “However poor my country may be, I will not abnegate it! My love to Ethiopia is next to none!”
Vexed by the cold shoulder greeting he showed to their offers finding a pretext they put him behind bars.
Later, released, he came back to Ethiopia to Join the Special Imperial guard with the Imperial given title Colonel.
Colonel Abdissa Aga died soon after the demise of the Emperor Haile Sellasie I.
The younger generation has to learn a lot from this exemplary heroism and love for motherland.

to get to grips with
underused triceps
and quasi-haemarrhoids of sitting
on your *** all day playing candy crush
sh'aga... or some ****
about the Shanghai stock-market
creating a booming Hong Kong
housing experiment of noodle lovers
ready for some artificial intelligence *****
chat; hey, if pink is the new *****
of fluffy handcuffs... sign me up!
i'm ready for the near voyeuristic
claustrophobia of living in over-crowded
high-rise accommodation.

The Holy Trinity church,
After a brief prayer,
The tombstone of a martyr
My eyes never fail to search
As his eulogies sensitive cords
Are sure to touch!

A flickering torch,

THE FARMER
The lonely wood pigeon perched, echoes, sounds of joy – ‘the morning has risen’. The farmer stirs from a deep slumber as a beam of sunshine escapes through the curtain, reaching his furrowed, leathered, weather-beaten brow. He places one foot on the wooden floor, his lips part as the second foot completes the pair. Whispering, “Thank you;” he feels a deep gratitude for having awakened to this new day. He understands his maker has determined this day, yet the weather elements will dictate the farmer’s way. He glimpses through the window to see what is yet to come and sights a congregation of birds on the electricity cables above - a sure sign of rain on the way!
In the kitchen, he listens for a weather update. Warming himself near the Aga cooker while making a brew. He looks to the Sacred Heart picture and the hanging family rosary beads. To understand the farmer, one must understand the traditions of the land. The land has a holden-fist on the heart of the farmer, as many farmers well know. It has caused bitterness and disputes in generations past. The farmer must feel a love for the land and a passion for what he does best. The land holds high expectations and demands dedication from him.
From the first leaves falling in autumn, to the nurturing of crops through understanding of spraying techniques. In winter, hearing the cows crave for hay, and repairing machines during the low times. Springtime brings cattle and sheep grazing pastures new; and seagulls landing on freshly ploughed fields. Grass whirling in the wind, then corn ears blowing side by side. The warm glow of the valley in summer brings the harvesting of ripe golden corn. Haymaking sees farm picnics, readymade tea in old lemonade bottles, poured into mugs and stirred by straw, with the smell too of homemade bread and curney cake. The farmer, seeing birds migrate in a ‘V’ pattern, feels an anxiety for the year-end accounts yet to come. Feathers are scattered outside the chicken coup - the fox has been and gone!
The farmer leaves the doorway in silence and walks out to the fields to assess his crop. The early morning dew dampening the ends of his trousers as he walks. A slight smile parts his lips as he listens to insects galore. He bends down and reaches with a strong, hard-skinned, gloveless hand, grasping his crop and pulling from the root. He sees what he needs to know. In that moment he is complete; he is a Farmer! He turns and strokes his dog, which had been laging behind.
He understands his fate. One day he will leave the land behind – he will be gone, but the land will remain forever!

MOVING ON
From here I stroll into the darkness,
From the land of known knowledge and ready made friends,
I'm walking on air bubbles,
I have friends I never thought I had.
I kiss outpatients goodbye with big hugs.
I take my gifts home in a plastic bag,
all full up with memories.

And now I'm reflect on my colleagues,
sorry guys,
you all fit my jigsaw of reflection and recollection.
I have no favourites in my team.
We all work in unison.
I have Mandy and Karen who don't want me to go,
but you know, I have to move along,
I have Rose and Terri who steer the team,
now that our dear Sister Diann left,
Allison left and came right back,
she must have known on which side her bread was buttered,
Aga, my friend is going,
will be bouncing back in a nurses dress,
Tracey, was the first colleague,
I saw when I was interviewed,
the first person who said "hello", you see I remembered.
Erline and Gill are both angels,
Maggie's much the same,
George and Charlotte,
I met you the first day that you came to stay,
two doctors in the making...good luck to both of you.
Mark is off to train,
off to find a new career, a proper little life saver,
he'll be great at that,
most definitely he will!
I am graced with knowing Lauren Dean,
she wants to be a midwife,
I know that she'll succeed.
Louise, well she is learning loads,
I was so delighted to find Julie S, had come to join our team,
I was touched by your cute little special gift..
and also the gift from the eye lady who made me cry.
Dr J, thank you for my flowers,
you made my day, thank you
We have a collection of newbies come to play,
don't know them that well but, I hope they stay.
Min and George, I appreciate you buying my silly books.
Kirsten and Kayla, I'll miss you both.
I'll miss you all as much as I can,
the receptionists and medical records,

you all play a crucial part.

My wife found my keys sitting in the sink
After spending hours ripping up the house for them
I didn’t remember putting them there
we just blew it off as some goof up
I was moving on in years. Everyone makes their silly mistakes
But after that, things got worse.
Suddenly, it was hard for me to remember details of her figure.
I’d wake up in the middle of the night, getting ready for work
when I haven’t worked for 10 years.
Sometimes I’d worry incessantly over the stranger making their way into my home  
a stranger who looked like they knew me
They’d be sobbing, calling out to me.
“I’m your son!”

.somehow i never managed to elevate my listening palette to talk radio, notably BBC radio 4, from the upper echelon of "passively" engaging in content, namely classical FM... i still wonder why there's no jazz FM, spewing out the Blue Note records renaissance of the 1950s...

- since you really can't call it pumping iron
at the gym,
           the brain is already, primarily,
a fatty ***** with electric potential -
turn that ***** to a muscular entity -
lo & behold!
      Alzheimer's involves killer proteins -
that last tier of starvation,
in reverse -
   first the immediate consumption
   of the readily available carbohydrates
(sugars, starch) -
  then the fat reserves...
                        and last: the proteins...
as a side digressive question -
why not prescribe the onset of Alzheimer's
contained fasting -
     it's hypothetical -
                    a treatment so dramatic,
that the body's fat reserves have been
depleted -
         and the protein storage begins
to be involved -
        just a theory... i'm not qualified
to attest its verifiable status with
the current methods of alleviating
the onset of Alzheimer's...
but... given that no pharmacological intervention
is of any help...
               extreme fasting...
   post-scriptum of the fat reserves being
exhausted...
                 point being?
   an avenue not walked by anyone...
  a stab in the dark...
              but it clearly it hasn't been
     a good pat few days to solve
