"aegis" poems
XXVIII. TO ATHENA (18 lines)
(ll. 1-16) I begin to sing of Pallas Athene, the glorious
goddess, bright-eyed, inventive, unbending of heart, pure ******
saviour of cities, courageous, Tritogeneia. From his awful head
wise Zeus himself bare her arrayed in warlike arms of flashing
gold, and awe seized all the gods as they gazed. But Athena
sprang quickly from the immortal head and stood before Zeus who
holds the aegis, shaking a sharp spear: great Olympus began to
reel horribly at the might of the bright-eyed goddess, and earth
round about cried fearfully, and the sea was moved and tossed
with dark waves, while foam burst forth suddenly: the bright Son
of Hyperion stopped his swift-footed horses a long while, until
the maiden Pallas Athene had stripped the heavenly armour from
her immortal shoulders. And wise Zeus was glad.
(ll. 17-18) And so hail to you, daughter of Zeus who holds the
aegis! Now I will remember you and another song as well.

Match, match forward and go, you heroic sons of America
Reconnoiter into the strongholds of boko haram,
And restore our captive girls from the foul custody,
Lawlessly held hostage by the connoisseurs of terror,
Go on and recover poor souls from ribald of religion
Impishly created by Moslem from the satanic verses,
Regulating foray of terror on the poor of the poor
****** mahyeming, looting and executing massacres,
Match on and on yee angels of democracy,
Don’t stop in any haste or in any wonder,
To help in the sham flabbergastations,
About the Igbos who fought the Biafra,
And the Yorubas who federally defended,
Under the aegis of Obasanjo the Sandhurst
General, where are they all to save the girls
Of Nigeria from the Islamist terror
Excuted by boko haram the handmaid of evil.

Italian Campagna 1309, the open road
Bah! I have sung women in three cities,
But it is all the same;
And I will sing of the sun.
Lips, words, and you snare them,
Dreams, words, and they are as jewels,
Strange spells of old deity,
Ravens, nights, allurement:
And they are not;
Having become the souls of song.
Eyes, dreams, lips, and the night goes.
Being upon the road once more,
They are not.
Forgetful in their towers of our tuneing
Once for wind-runeing
They dream us-toward and
Sighing, say, “Would Cino,
Passionate Cino, of the wrinkling eyes,
Gay Cino, of quick laughter,
Cino, of the dare, the jibe.
Frail Cino, strongest of his tribe
That ***** old ways beneath the sun-light,
Would Cino of the Luth were here!”
Once, twice a year—
Vaguely thus word they:
“Cino?” “Oh, eh, Cino Polnesi
The singer is’t you mean?”
“Ah yes, passed once our way,
A saucy fellow, but . . .
(Oh they are all one these vagabonds),
Peste! ’tis his own songs?
Or some other’s that he sings?
But you, My Lord, how with your city?”
My you “My Lord,” God’s pity!
And all I knew were out, My Lord, you
Were Lack-land Cino, e’en as I am,
O Sinistro.
I have sung women in three cities.
But it is all one.
I will sing of the sun.
…eh? …they mostly had grey eyes,
But it is all one, I will sing of the sun.
“‘Pollo Phoibee, old tin pan, you
Glory to Zeus’ aegis-day,
Shield o’ steel-blue, th’ heaven o’er us
Hath for boss thy lustre gay!
‘Pollo Phoibee, to our way-fare
Make thy laugh our wander-lied;
Bid thy ‘flugence bear away care.
Cloud and rain-tears pass they fleet!
Seeking e’er the new-laid rast-way
To the gardens of the sun…
* * *
I have sung women in theree cities
But it is all one.
I will sing of the white birds
In the blue waters of heaven,
The clouds that are spray to its sea.”

She holds Aegis in her hand
Flee before it, if you can
The head of a monster hangs from a fleece
Look, you look, and you turn to stone
Fight her, you fight her, and you will be bone

Oh Bastet,
Oh Sekhmet,
Upon you are the praises,
As the Eye of Ra,
Protector of those beyond their age,
Blessing us with the knowledge of your will,
The incarnation of you Kimmy,
Is prepared for her journey,
Yet through supplication and festivals of drunkenness,
We beseech thee,
Again your Ointment jar will be overflowing,
The Sistrum and Aegis again in your hands,
Sacrifice at the Temple in celebration
For continued presence,
Here in the second world,
Our beloved Kimmy.

One heart to beat, one heart to live
Alone, I am exclusive.
One heart to beat, two hearts to love
Dear Valerie, are you from up Above?
One hand to clench, one hand to wave
Alone, my heart will not behave.
One hand to clench, two hands to hold
Dear Valerie, you’re beautiful, I’m told.
One pair of lips to speak, one pair to whisper
Alone, I can only shiver.
One pair of lips to speak, two pairs to kiss
Dear Valerie, let me be your aegis.
Two hands to hold
Two hands to be wrinkly and old
Two pairs of lips to whisper,
Two pairs of lips oh so tender.
Two hearts in a trove,
Two hearts of turtledoves.
Two hearts to beat, two hearts to beat.

Ambiguous propaganda seeps paranoia
into crevasses of budding knowledge,
spawning hordes of diffident souls
that cower behind the Aegis
of altruistic motives.
Self preservation clings
to pragmatic love
and delayed satisfaction,
while enthusiasts of law
leech gold from delicate
words left unsaid.
The expense of insuring hope
dooms creative anomalies
to tedious and ceaseless
indentured servitude.
And the day split-lip parasites
swarm like Death to claim souls,
the only cure
will waste away final days in
an attempt to prolong them.

And you and me are still
Young enough to really live
We are simply melding
Into another season of emotion
The years are just beginning
To gray what they have claimed
And have been allowed to claim
The wind blows away what it can--
What cannot be tied down
Keep whispering
Your soul into my soul
Keep primal scream tears
Falling into my primal soul
Keep filling up the empty spaces
Keep creating empty spaces
Tearing down the vacant walls
Building up new walls
Opening locked doors
Locking others in turn
As we forever transform together
Under the aegis of the Immortal
As we grow like the roots
Of the banyan tree
Hanging down with the branches
Helping to provide shelter
As we slowly grow closer
To the sweet earth
In silent anticipation
Finally touching
Slowly penetrating
Gently pushing deeper
Until we are of one purpose
Deeply rooted by the banks
Of the Eternal River
That descended from heaven
And flows through
Human spirit transformed
Life-giving water running slow
And deep the source of your whisper--
True essence in deepest longings
Flowing into my source
Pockets of holy energy overflowing
Slowed down to a trickle at times
Going full circle and
Back and forth
From out of reach channels
That something deep beyond
The starry masses
That something some call love
That something some call God
That something flowing & living
In me & you.

***Book One
(∞The Psalm of The Star Child∞)
The Precursor's Psalm I-V
To the Child of The Empyrean. For ye valleity stars shine.
(I) ―En Fortissimo
1 Tender with sentimentality,
I fathom you,
2 That you draw closer, nigh’ with every waking moment,
Closer to ensconce ‘twixt my embrace,
3 That your towering arms
May aegis these benighted bones.
4 The Vestibule of Our Souls shall be
Assoiled by an Arcadian Eternity,
5 Shall scintillate in my every blooded tear, shed garnetiferously,
―Upon my crucifix, our crucifix:
6 A penance, pardoning our transgressions prognostically
Before by romance, we touched erringly.
(Se'lah)
(II) Celestial Communion
1 O, Star Child,
May your beckoning
2 Sow the Seeds of Somnus upon the sanctimony
Festering in my faith,
3 (A besmirched hope)
Tarnished by my reverenc’d doubt.
4 O Minstrel of Manumission,
Will ye sing unto me ye SoulSong?
5 The Womb’d Aethers bleed,
The Terraqueous Mother conceives, Gaian a dream,
6 Her Luminous Brethren yearn
For the Arbiter of Fates.
(Se'lah)
(III) Song of Wishes
1 Velleity speaks,
It whispers,
2 In the twinkling of the stars.
When shall it end,
3 When
It has yet to begin?
4 Be still― and become one with all things,
As time fades, consciousness begins,
5 The Experiential Cascade:
All that was, all that is, & all that shall be,
6 Circular & Cycling,
Forevermore.
7 Know that there is a reason,
Know that there is a place,
8 Know that there is a person,
In this world for you.
9 Open up your heart and see,
All you were meant to see.
(Se'lah).
(IV) Spiritus de Tempus (Zeitgeist of the Future)
1 ―Blooming in Reminiscence
The Dreamscape glistens,
2 A Redolent Reverie wafts
The Tenuous Air amidst
3 Her Zephry'd Lightwaves
& Crystalline Pulsations.
4 Ardently I pine,
For thine visage, groping for a rhyme,
5 Whence I can gaze once more upon thine
Countenance sublime,
6 All desperations been defied,
For thee I reverberate Love, The Spirit of the Times.
(Se'lah)
(V) Bastion Heart
1 The agony in existentiality
Unravels undying piety
2 And
Cloistered in cadence of solitude,
3 I, the Somnolent One,
Am roused by The Heart’s Resonance.
4 In wanting, there is life,
In desirelessness, wanting still,
5 Know thine Power,
Indomitable Will:
6 The Couer & The Amour of the Spirit
Are immortal.

Time an temperature...bottom right of
tele-visioning screen.
And now...torrent crystallized vertically, horizontally.
Fixity of the epochal grope--aegis to the
refining floodlight.
Reflected back to virtual reality, Jacob Boehme's

Numbing, the iced pillow of cold illogic...slid
the presented head...melting.
Warming up and up to harmony and chaos--
reintegrated by and by Now.

Lost on the plains of ancient Ílion,
Treading the windswept soil and stone,
I sense the ghosts of warriors and horsemen,
Of dark-eyed women and jealous kings.
Their history scattered, burned and ruined,
Pressed by time and scavenging hordes,
Yet restored to life in song and verse.
When poets and imagining hearts were stirred
To find heroes among brutal soldiers
And reasons for violence masked as greed.
Shades of blue lost to time reappear.
In their winding brains goddesses walked,
Holding an aegis made that bore a Gorgon’s face
Or gods who guided arrows and chose the dead.
Bards ever kept alive the rival gods
Before whom King Priam bowed and Achilles defiled.
Across the grape-blood waters of the Hellespont,
Aphrodite savored her own victory and watched
As Paris still kept the women she had given him.
Love was not among her calculations
Nor those of Zeus when he forbade hindrance
By the gods, who yet battled among themselves.
As mortal enemies fought the coming of allies.
For ten years, ships and horses swarmed to aid
The unbowed city, even Memnon and Penthesilia,
Both slain by the sword for reasons then forgot,
So their sacrifices failed to dent a lust for blood.
Yet armies tired and war ended, as all wars do,
Through fatigue or fire or the scattering of slaves.
Now time has whitened the ruins and sands
And Boreas sweeps away the shards of stain
That dyed the cities’ walls and columns.
The scarlet buried below Herculaneum is gone,
And saffron gowns on dancing virgins,
All the horses’ indigo manes and hyakinthos
Sandals of Achilles, whose mother dyed them
Before he sailed, forgetting his Stygian bath.
He was clad in red to hide his blood,
So when wounded, his men would not cower.
Yet one arrow alone took his life; how telling
That more valiant men lost theirs closer to the soul!
Gone are the sheep, red-fleeced with madder
And argamon robes of brides and Cybele’s priests.
No sacrificial lambs or holy men walk here now,
On the bone white land and relics of a kingdom,
Yet the north wind, the lone god, continues to wail.

You are a solider,
The war of my life is at a cease,
Its the stillest moment I've ever lived,
Because you are my solider,
You are a protector,
The wreck of others is trashed,
You know the right words to say,
Fixed my heart when it's mashed,
For that I adore you,
Aegis,
You absorb the bad,
Dispense the good,
You are knocked down,
You get back up and walk,
You are hurt,
You are pain,
You are love,
You are joy,
You're my Aegis,
Many try to mock,
Many try to ruin,
Many tried to fix,
Aegis
God walks in your walk,
God shines in your smile,
God moves in your spirit,
God talks through your voice,
Aegis,
If you want to see the beauty,
I'd advise you to look closer,
It's not what you think it is,
It's what I see, I'm a boaster,
I am proud,
I have pride,
I have the greatest mother Alive,
And I just want the world to know you're beautiful,
Go ahead,
Seek and you shall find,
It's not in the weight,
Or the size of your behind,
You'll find it in the bathroom,
On an item that reflects,
My Aegis look in the mirror,
And tell me what you see,
When you see yourself,
Smile and let your light gleam !

Chronology Dynamo(Cogwheel Goddess)
Excogitation; twiddling my thumbs…
My eyes are glued to the soil beneath me; I shall sink into the mud.
The winds embrace my untimely surge of vain equations.
My metacarpals have contorted; supplication exhausts my soul.
“You my Goddess, who I look to for Time, yes Time and solace“.
“Thou shall not reveal to me vicissitudes of vernal decay”
“When shall the Great Harvest arrive?”
“I ask myself this oh Mother of Divine Infinity; Scythe of Era in the hands of thou.”
-When-
-When shall my flowering forth arrive from aegis wings?-
I sweat; I bleed; I murmur; I fade; I glow; “now what am I?”
Translucent in skin; hollow to the core; dying to warp through dimensions; lithe like a sylph.
Her diadem is one of metallic gears and bejeweled bolts; a Manufactured Diety of the Glorious Space and Time.
Her blade of mascara beautifies those who gaze upon her luminous needle lashes;
Her apparel that of disassembled clocks.
The sand of the hourglass composes her tears and blood; she bleeds out every second of wasted chronology.
Her corona is iridescent and she is one with The Universe.
“Ye shall not waste Time, yes, Time, for it is the essence to all things that are and all things that are not!”
She speaks to me as the nebulae around her glimmer, adorned with supernovae creating a phantasmagorical and celestial overload.
My eyes are clocked with sensory overload; so many colors and luminous neon lights.
“Before the collapse of Mother Earth; the Liminal Sphere, you must feed the Galaxies with the brilliance of your heart.”
-When the rivers of time run dry-
-Act-
-Do Not Wait…-

Take my love as a shield:
To protect you in times of strife
From the rages of war,
From the sands of time.
Take my love as a shield:
Bulwark of the ages,
Stalwart of the weak,
Aegis of support.
This shield does not break:
Unyielding fortification,
Knight of the rose,
Knight against night.
This shield does not shatter:
Impenetrable fortress,
Sight of safety,
Home of hearth and heart.
Take my love as a shield:
For you I live,
For you I protect,
For you I adore.
Take my love as a shield
For it’s all I can give.
It’s worth fighting for;
It’s worth dying for.
Even if I break and shatter,
My fortifications crumble
And my fortress is overcome
Take my love as a shield
To protect you from my night
For I am a weak knight;
I am at war with myself-
Take my love as a shield.

When the magistry has ended, /
The echoes of repose begin to resound; /
Although there is, there has been a great wanderer in me, /
The beckoning has not ceased, /
Nor has my heart been claimed in abeyance. /
A story, one with risings & fallings, /
One with an unfalteringly great divide, /
Has bestowed a parcel from on high; /
The Winds, The Earth, The Ocean, The Sun, The Moon, /
They are the pulse of this Grand Tapestry. /
When we are enraptured, /
By ensorcelled irides /
We become; /
Sometimes being enamored /
Means our journey is re-willed; /
Moreover, we see the world with Brand New Eyes. /
Allowing every experience, to re-modulate my thoughts & feelings /
I realized uncertainty was not a barrier, /
Rather, it was my nexus to transcendence. /
Having a time & space in which to reflect, retrospect, & introspect was an aegis, /
Now real & authentic happiness is no longer distant /
And faith is near. /

For Shelby
I
O cover the gable in thistle
Let this place become unknown to all
To us only may this place be holy;
Let the moss wrap it up like a shawl.
Let the darkness prevent eyes from seeing
And hearts from remembering when
And the sun hide her grand face, agreeing
That no-one shall find it again.
Let the vines and the beetles crawl slowly
Devouring all semblance of worth;
O cover the gable in thistle
And draw it all back to the earth.
II
Once this was a temple unfettered.
My heart and hers wandered free,
Free from Time’s shadow and terror;
Nothing would tear her from me.
My spirit was hers for the sculpting,
She crafted my soul by her hand;
Prancing and gasping and gulping
We devoured the joy of this land.
Never a footstep in error
And every omen a boon--
Once this was a temple unfettered;
A monument now to my ruin.
III
This is the place where I carried her
And swore to protect her from harm;
Here her warm breath was my staple,
Here her bright eye was my charm.
Though the fortunes of fate might assail her
I am her aegis and shield
Unswerving, my love cannot fail her
‘Til the last of my strength shall I yield
See, on the hill, the black maple
And the wink of the rope’s one good eye
This is the place where I buried her
And yonder the hill where I die.

Hail Mary full of grace
this is the start of your darkest days
the Lord is with you
the shadow within is waiting too
blessed are you among women
look at the pale faces of the passed brethren
and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus
foreshadowing won’t help your crumbling aegis
Holy Mary Mother of God
miracles aren’t in multitudes of cod
Pray for us sinners
and for everlasting winters
Now and at the hour of our death
long until your final breath
Amen.
in suffering, there is no end.

I want to be the Man of Steel
But I cannot breathe
On that tight sheath
I'm too short to spread
That shiny cape of red.
I want to roam the galaxies
But my fear of height
Defeats my will for flight
And my skinny thighs
Tremble in the skies.
I want to have Herculean strength
But my tiny hands
Don't stand a chance
Over chunks of meteors
Or Velociraptors.
I want to gain superior speed
But my porous skin
Crumbles in the wind
And my crooked feet
Hate the city streets.
I want a pair of laser eyes
But my reading glasses
Could reflect the flashes
And deprive my sight
Of the Earthly light.
I want the power of the sun
But my curly hair
Could catch a flare
And they'll all conspire
To set myself on fire.
I want a shield of purest lead
But my brittle bones
Petrify to stones
Before the aegis glides
Against all Kryptonites.
I hate to want the Man of Steel
His pair of laser eyes
Or his flight to the skies
His speed and vigor
Or eternal power.
I wish to be just Clark Kent
Who only has a pen
That he can lend to men
But was the one to gain
The love of Lois Lane.

Medusa's death was not all in vain
After Perseus' sickle caressed her neck
She gazed at his aegis with eyes of victory
And whispered your name to the wind.
Steno and Euryale raised you well
To become all the things they can never be
A monster's dreams, an outcast's hopes
Your sisters' love turned to sibling rivalry.
And here you are, in the world of mortals
Trying to love what your sisters loathed
Begging to understand the ways of men
Seeking your own form of redemption.
But as the fourth Gorgon you are yet to be
You're all the things a monster is not
Transcending divine beauty effortlessly
Putting all the Greek goddesses to shame.
Your gaze doesn't turn mortals to stone
But rather warm their cold and drunken hearts
Your hair's on braids, not a hundred snakes
Stroked by velvet palms instead of hands of brass.
You got a pair of fangs, but harmless ones
That makes your smiles the most fascinating
Perhaps even Athena, goddess as she is
Can't curse a rare beauty that you are.

Verse 1:
Cancelled out; nullified, material feelings on a visual plane
Melodic turbulence in my soul; I’m so disconnected
The Great Wall of me; It has yet to collapse
Useless data; simplified processing
I’m broken to pieces; Raw and uncut
Chorus 1:
The winds have carried me off; I blend in with the skies
I become nonexistent; I’m brought to my demise
Personal compaction; I’m forced into a shell
I become claustrophobic; I panic in the dark
Verse 2:
Butterflies of darkness greet me in the Garden of Decay
Mesmerized by their beauty, I’m seduced into my tears
I’m greeted with distant smiles; no threads connect our souls
A golden sun awaits me over the horizon; it’s contours have been obscured
Chorus 2:
The ocean carries me off; I drift to the bottom of the seas
My tears have become casual; my pain is an anchor to The Ship
A titanic of the watery deep; a treasure lies within
The ark of the covenant; a pearl made of luminous blood
Bridge:
An oyster awaits me in the ships caverns; I become one with the waves of the sea
Aqua is my destiny; time will heal frost smoke
A fire bolt will descend from the heavens; it will conduct my weary eyes
Radiant gold and amethyst await me on the shore of aegis wings
Chorus 3:
The fire scorches my demons; I awaken to the light
I knock on heavens doorway; I’m greeted by Father Time
The cogwheels to my suffering shall come to a crashing halt
The bastion surrounding my halo shall crumble in the Fall.

According to astrology,
The stars arrange themselves to bind
The destinies of humankind
Born under their hegemony.
What malice made those twinkling lights
****** my children, and yet spare
A father to forever bear
Grief that embitters, and ignites
A hatred for my very birth,
And the cursed womb that gave me life.
****** in this vale of loss and strife,
Pushed through that vile and ****** firth,
I live and suffer till I die.
Are the stars locked in crystal spheres
To trace their paths throughout the years,
Quite powerless to nullify,
The ruin and the doom they chart?
Or do they skip across the void,
Giddy, and cruel, and overjoyed
To wither a poor father’s heart?
If they’re condemned to blight
The fate of any mortal born
Under their aegis, they must mourn
The sentences their glint must write.
If merciful, those stars must share
The misery their shining brings,
And their own brittle glimmerings
Must lance their conscience with despair.
Extinguishing those stars that ****
Unwillingly is clemency.
Annihilation sets them free.
But if they’re vicious, it will thrill
My aching spirit to ***** out
Ill-omened and malignant stars,
Child-murderers, and the bêtes noires
Of fathers, even if devout.
Such wicked lights disgrace the night,
So, emptied, let that banner shut.
An expanse cleansed of glittery ****
Contracts so closely and so tight
No spirit banished from its rest
Can enter through that dismal gate,
Once happy, now disconsolate,
Dropped in a world they will detest.
Into that gap, the day before
And the day afterward will close.
So that cursed hour cannot expose
A naked child to famine, war,
Plague, and the agonies this world.
Inflicts upon the bad and good.
If in the womb, I’d understood
The pain awaiting, I’d have curled
Up tighter and would lock my knees.
Shutting the door, I would return
To a green glade and gurgling bourn,
A haven from atrocities.

I've become bilateral tainted--
By coincidences and ageing
Aegis fragments,
I wear sickle seeking madness-
Telling water to float, so dryads
Could root with xylem or phloem.
While the amoebas play
Webs like violin; harps-
The trees felt sorrow singing
--And dropped, but one leaf.
For--
This-was--
A waking-
'Wake'
I only tried-to-die once.
