Walking on the great wall
Briefly in the past
My heart is trembling softly
I hope this doesn't last
I still recall a spoken name
And how I felt that day
It never will abandon me
Though too often it sounds grey
Memory is brittle
Needs massage along the way
What we think as unimportant
May end up haunting us someday
There is nothing more to offer
Friendships often go that way
I will never forget her
And what she didn't say.

A warm Southern summer night
Dozens of cork bobbers
Dancing the night away
Speaking softly.
Where has it gone
A thought not one had.
We were taught not to wonder.
It's just life
The way it has always been.

What is it that we're paying for
How did it go so wrong
We missed the turn to righteousness
Left humming that 'ole sad song
The rows of desolation
Laid our for us to choose
Which one we ask is ours
With little left to loose
The joker and the thief were there
Both grinning selfishly
The lots were cast between them
Knowing who it'd be
A'hah,you think you're something
I heard one of them say
We've got you where we want you
This globe is ours to save
Her art was left on vellum
In graphite number two
The sun did set it shimmering
Our chins upon our chests.
