"Not truly one, but truly two"
In fact, multifarious

Fragments of you become precarious

One sip, indulge, once the ebullition subsides,
Daylight falls on your repulsive Hyde

Pitched in opposition or bound by collusion,
Repression of one offers internal contusion

Duplicity of character drives the need to transcend

Doctor or deviant, met with admiration or resent,
Which of these denizens will you choose to present?

Scattered, tattered, thoughts chatter
Teething at grey matter

But behold the host,
More astute than most,
Left them crumbs on which to feed

As the cortex ploughed, spewing shock waves into the abyss
The chatter became incessant and loud,

Yet still they persist,
As axons shudder and twist,

It would take just one moment to look around,

To measure their disparity with a little more clarity,
And leave the weary sulci to soothe,

Will they gain faith to slow their pace?
Or continue to trod and grind

I hope they stop soon, find a minute to spare
To show some much needed care for their mind

A struggle, the pine, roots entwined,
The hollow, the oak, deep and soaked
with the hours, the months and days

Come winter, seasons braced, strains efface
To a warm embrace weeps the willow

Locked within rings, beyond bark, beyond bone,
Secretes between two rotate

And the nutrients they bring,
Breathe new life within,
In defiance of season, sun or the soil
