Grasshoppers are caught along the way.

To adorn my hook on this warm summers day.

My cane pole lay by the old cottonwood tree.

Absent of shoes or cares I cast my line bobber and all.

A catfish I hope to catch.

Or maybe just a memory before fall.

Should we be lovers and hide from the mid-day sun

Or should we be like the others and tell everyone

Should we hold hands as we walk down the street

Or should we wait till after dark to meet

Would it be right to make love all night, to just smile at each other as we pass by

If our hearts are honest and our love is true

They already knew

Experience rings my heart like the cold of a dim light.

I reach for something warm. But numbness fills my hands.

My heart is willing, but guarded by a thousand good intentions.

I want to trust again for I have always been brave.

But the fear I will disappoint now keeps me at bay.

She told me I was not emotionally available as she walked out the door.
I wanted to cry or laugh , still not sure.

Cigar smoke enveloped the room

High heels and french perfume

LA's calling cards

For writers who's work has been tossed about.

One success may make it out

Dreams die time after time

Touching the sign at hollywood and vine.

Poetry is always near

She is greedy

Relentless in a time of need

She cares not for your suffering or celebration

An assault on your most gifted rebellion

She gathers your words against you.

I seen her from afar

Dark hair with olive skin

Sweat gathered at the small of her back

As she tended the garden she brushed her hair back

Thin at the waist her hips were full

I watched her as the sun set

Desiring to smell the nape of her neck.
