Voices silenced and words wiped
Books burned and history erased
Agendas shoved down our throats till we choked
Eyes blank and brains numb as we marched down dumb
Institutions burned and stores looted, all for a cause they said
Opposition locked up and people alienated, all for the sake of equality they shouted
Lips parched and skin bruised as we advanced towards the promise of utopia
Only when we got close enough did we realise it’s a mirage
“Why?” we cried looking back at the bodies of our brothers and sisters
Only to have our cries muffled, all for the sake of your safety they whispered
