Birds make a joyful noise
Every day their cheerful chirp
Serenades the slumbering world
This morning I joined my brother bluebird
and sister cardinal in joyful carol
What a sweet racket we made
I think we woke up the Divine Mother
Her surreal blue eyes fluttered open
Smiling buoyantly
She blew us a golden kiss

so much anger burns in the pits of my stomach
a cold, bitter blue flame that consumes rationality
it leaves blisters sweltering in the hollows of my bones
with a dull white noise in my head that cries out for pain
and all i can do to sate the violence is to shatter already-broken skin
and tear at an already-torn heart
and still it eats away at me,
love that has nowhere to go, love that has rotten away
and here it becomes no wonder why there is nothing left to save me

Love that floats on the river grand
Ferry me away to a peaceful land

Trickles of hope happiness dares
Freedom currents carry my prayers

Perhaps happiness lies around the bend
Till then I’ll dream of days of when

Everytime I hotwired reality

I took a bite out of animosity

I followed all the wrong examples

Danced to the music I didn't know

I never knew the new ground

Before it brought me down

In the end we all dance to the music alone

Twirling until we are nowhere to be found

. . . . dancing our sorrow away . . . .

. . . . all the dying years enthused . . . .

. . . .  in the end keep the fire burning
         in your eyes . . . .

. . . . until the light in you reaches the sky . . . .

the graveyard is forever filling up
headstones in neat rows

your name will be read there
along with your two dates

it may say 'poet'
or may say nothing at all

allowing silence to speak
allowing silence to be.
