You continue to betray
Finding yet another way
With each and every passing day
I feel the knife go in my chest

I can see your bitter joke
As my life you try to choke
And the mockery you spoke
When you said you’d done your best

So I spurn that cursed knife
That brought pain and tears and strife
And I will find more joy in life
As I give my heart a rest

Can you see
A tender broken woman

Can you see
Jesus bend low to
Hold my hand
And help me
Rise Again

Walking North as you go South
I'm warned not to look back for you
But to let you go your own way

Perhaps you'll turn around

Perhaps you won't.

Crying tears that
Abundantly flow
Never knowing
Your next attack
Only living for yourself and your
Unusually cruel tactics
Shame and guilt driving
Every deceitful and
Excruciating behavior
Marauding endlessly
Every piece of my heart

Standing at the crossroads
Wondering what you’re going to choose
What is it you’ll gain and
What is it you’ll lose

Is it your independence
Or is it loyalty
What is it you search for
To take away from me?

In the most vulnerable of moments
My heart laid on the line
As I looked to you for safety
You replied, “I have no time.”

No time to care, no love to give
No sacrifice to make
Instead you gave excuses
And sought what you could take

So I gave and gave
And gave some more
Almost to my demise
As I believed the way you saw me
Through your selfish eyes

Yet, now I’m seeing something new
Something I didn’t know
I need to separate from you
For truth and love to grow

For, in you, there is no love
There’s only pain and lies
One thing I’ve learned so well by now is
You love what I despise.

So, I sit and grieve the pain
Of dreams shattered by your choice
I stop and I remember
That I still have a voice

That voice was silenced for a time
But louder, now, its risen
It’s time to rediscover
Life beyond this prison

How many days
And how many ways
Can a man disparage his wife?

In my experience,
The ways are infinite,
And the days seem the rest of her life.

But the Lord has heard
My lonely cries
As He lends to me His ear.

And as I sit
With tears free falling,
He whispers, “Child, come near.”

For even though
My earthly husband
May never see an ounce of worth,

I am held
In love so dear
By the King of all the earth!
