Give your thumbs a break,
Turn away from temptations,
You won’t find me in that app

Quit scrolling for love
I’m right here, baby.
Not on that little screen

I don’t want a cliche love story,
I want real romance,
I want you.

Secured in his arms,
Reality fades into a dream,
One she hopes to never wake from.

Seduced by the feel of his skin,
like melatonin to an insomniac,
His touch being the only solution.

Threaded among the moonlight,
Constellations carefully etched across the sky,
Their destiny mapped out in front of their eyes.

She runs her hands down his back, entranced entirely by him.
His intentions, entranced entirely by her fragile physique.

Her urges take over,
Losing control again,
Distracted by warped illusions,
Failing to remember,
The future she’s been unable to escape.

Fooled by his caress,
The stars fall out of foucs,
Causing the drugs to lose effect.

Temptations capitvate my dreams
Outcomes of these uncontrollable thoughts
Seem as hazardous as mentos
Recklessly dropped into a vulnerable bottle
Of fifty cent drugstore soda.

Pop the top off
And replace my logical strain
With ingorant emotions.

Once enslaved by my own command,
I am finally free.

Those harsh words your whisper,
Joined with a smirk,
Stay lingering in my ears.

Your glares melt my self confidence into puddles,
Pressuring me to focus my eyes on the cold tile floor.

You don't realize the pain you inflict on me,
Causing me to intoxicate my problems.
Or maybe you do.

In love with beginnings
Seducing them with sensations.
Boys fall for me with ease
But break away just as willingly.
Confined within the borders of a triangle
Luring my heart in different ways
My desire as constant as the days of the week.
On Monday
Comes saccharine Sonny knocking on my door.
On Thursday
Comes debonair Dave calling my line.
On Saturday
Comes captivating Christian chasing after me.

The flourishing technology
Promises us a brighter tomorrow
With little screens making our hands their home.
Our fingertips are the ones that are at their service
While this advancement is promoted to say otherwise.
They say we’ll be connected around the world,
They say we’ll feel complete.
As relationships are invaded
And distances are formed with those near us.
Back issues
Neck problems
Poor eyesight.
Take back the decades
When being social was considered a norm
And blue lights didn’t distract us from our environment.

Wrapped up warm and seeping with temper
Lies your Christmas gift
Under the mistletoe.
As your mind pulses with confusion,
You trace your receipts
Wondering why coal fills your ripped stockings.
Your checkbook goes out to supplying yourself with makeup
Conceal, repent, repeat.
Bruises envelop the surface of your porcelain skin
And wounded heart of a veteran.
The new year brings hope and courage,
You pray to end the repetition.
Quit tripping and falling
Believing you’re just a clumsy house wife.
