Survivor's hope
Waynepatrick Sep 8
Upon sight no more exists,
nothing worth anyone's while,
the caves of despair are hard to resist,
calm sweet waters now run rile.

The lonely soldier stages by,
drunk in gait empty rifle at hand,
the weak soul longs to die,
Nothing went as planned.

At dawn the enemy struck,
their retaliation proved vain,
like a dry spring so was their luck,
the lone survivor retreated bleeding in pain.

All is empty as he staggers by
All but hope engraved in his mind.

None but the lonely heart
Can share in my sorrow
Desolate  and vacant
Of delight till morrow

Daily, I witness people full of glee
Same can scarce be said of me
My ailments posses all but a cure
Oh what a state so impure

None but the lonely heart
Can share in my sorrow
Desolate and vacant
Of delight till morrow
Desolate and vacant
Of delight till morrow

My soul is frail
A might storm
Engulfs me
None but the lonely heart can now my sorrow
And be this hurt.
My version of none but the lonely heart

Tribal lines
Waynepatrick Jul 22
Shall I forsake my love for tribal sake,
That I may lose the one dearest to my heart,
Shall this matter our love quake,
Our souls be thrown farther apart,

Then let our kin be disappointed,
For in our love they saw the fault of tribe,
Judges of hearts no God nor man ever appointed,
By my lover's side I shall forever abide.

Traditions cannot define us,
If need be then we will be hated,
They may insult, push, shove and even curse,
But in the end our happiness is created,

Together we shall be masters of our craft,
We will swim and sail in the waters called love.

When you love a rose
Waynepatrick Jun 18
When you love a rose, you love it with its thorns,
You take its scent and ignores all flaws,
Caress its pastel petals while admiring the succulent stem,
As the dew drips subjecting to gravity's will,
It's beauty astounding still,  draws attention to it's form,
Elegance springs from its core but all can be done is to adore,
In all it's beauty I find time for the thorns.

The Rain
Waynepatrick Jun 2
I love the rain and the way the clouds vent,
Petrichor makes me insane plus the sound of droplets hitting the terrain,
The breeze that ensues as the clouds wash the earth,
The streams and rivulets that form and flow about,
Startling thunder that voices the sky and lightning that shines on the eyes,
Oh and the sleep during rain, it becomes deep,
Lullabies of the rain are enough to change the Insomniacs way's,
I love the rain only when I'm not in it,
It's pleasure is most at a distance, felt from afar.

Mixed personality
Waynepatrick May 29
With thoughts tuned to two frequencies I'm forced to play  both sides,
I attempt to  twist and turn  each  at my hand, It seems fun but they can  become intangible as sand,
One side wishes to be well known but not exposed,
The other  doctors itself and recommends it's own dose,
It seeks recognition in all that  sees,
One seeks fame while the other is concerned with titles in it's name,
Each of them has individual minds,
They can be loving and cooperative  but inevitably one must  fall behind,
For a captain is one and the deed must be done,
The strongest of them  shall yield the wheel,
For I am a victim of my own radical thoughts.

Waves and words
Waynepatrick May 21
Words like waves are immune to death, splendid to the eye breath they also take,
Adhering to the mind calmly they resonate,
the arc of expectations is fully paid,
embracing lengths of the brain new ideas and thoughts flood in,

Immortality in your words reside,
generations past and to come abide,
This I know,I shall pass and go down below,
but death shan't have consumed me whole for up and up my words will go,
and with that wherever my soul is,
Knowing this I shall know bliss,
As moments and days go by,ensure a  note  is made,
Then easy shall you lie assured of your immortality.

On her leash
Waynepatrick May 17
The master has me on her leash
She leaves my head with ache and guilt
I lack any kind of peace
In seconds she brings down all I built
She teases with her departure and  lets me think I'm free,
But comes back never letting me be,
Then rewards me with pints of joy never to the brim,
She's sure to leave some to the dreams,
Like glue she sticks to my thoughts,
Grins at instances I fought and leaves me there to rot,
The master knows she's strong ,got me humming to her songs,
Her weakness is my hope, the scissors to her rope,
One day she knows I'll get up and forever go.

Losing my religion
Waynepatrick May 16
Whence do others get theirs,
that I may go up and claim part,
all have but I lack simply it's unfair,
I not being first or last realise this journey must start,
My mind labours your prepositions to process,
Your pace is strenuous to keep,
Now you say I am a lost sheep,
like a child deserted in the wild,
Speak sense into my mind,
Hence let my heart rejoice if what it seeks it does find.

Words of my eyes
Waynepatrick May 14
As I inhale your perfume and scan the mischief in your eyes,
I think of the moon and wish I could fly,
Soar above the clouds and kiss the sky,
Never doubt I love you everything in me shows,
Of you I forever will crave more,
Take my word and I shall take your hand,
Through the bad we will stand and through the good  rejoice,
Once more bless my ears with your voice,
Once more make my soul enjoy

Above all
Waynepatrick Apr 29
If calamities make it a habit their visitations
That my bones should  creak and be weak
And from my seat I be kicked and cast to dust
When my jungle  becomes my zoo
Then be strong my heart don't be blue,
Fond of my state I'll grow, boldly i will welcome the blows
Forwards I shall proceed  strength is all I need,
For every low will come an high
I shall be fine through the passing of nights
It's always darkest before the dawn
But I will survive the fall.

Government
Waynepatrick Apr 4
You subject  wills to your rule, you dictate all the do's
Ink other's books, number the pages and decide what ensues,
You sculpt lives then structure lies all to satisfy your needs,
Ignoring those who bleed, making a mockery of their claims,
Right is yours to define, certain as can be,defiance births fines,
How corrupt you are,
Sanctioning the little good you posses while in the streets transparency you profess,
Betraying a fragile ego, selfishness and greed beyond degree,
Would that we knew, our expectations wouldn't have fallen on something new,
But only few know and many are blind to the core,
One day they many will see and on that day all your fears will come to be.
One day all will change

Maiden of the sea
Waynepatrick Mar 24
My eyes met a maiden of the sea and the thought of what we could be made my heart skip a beat,

Her face was flushed and before she spoke the winds hushed and waves crashed no more,
My ears were blessed to hear a voice so splendid and whatever she said they would heed, for it was past that of the vocalist and angelic choirs ,nothing else did it require,

She wasn't bothered that she wore a robe in the sea, much she didn't care of who could see and in the moment I thought love had come to me

I showered in her flames of beauty, breathed her scented air as if it was a duty then garnered the courage and approached where she had been

But before I could speak, before I told her what I had come to seek, she went out of sight and trying with all my might couldn't locate her even though her presence was bright

My heart sank,I felt drunk ,I couldn't believe the happenings, there then I started weeping, for losing her even though a stranger left me in pain,

So everyday at noon I sing a song to the sea, asking where she could be ,but the sea never  answers me,and ever since my heart has never been free.

Mom
Her deeds are awash with love,
She gives past that which she has,
Lays no claim to the extra she does,
When she kissed where it hurt,
Always present upon the hour of need,

Never busy for your call not to heed,
Golden soul,love that forever shows,
Perceives no wrong to your ways,
Always take you back no matter what,

Ensured you were fed,
Carried you from the couch to the bed,
Corrected you when you're wrong,
In her heart she remains strong,
Forever you will sing her song,

To my mom and all mothers out there
To my mom and all mothers out there

Now that you're gone and left
our soles torn, what are we to do,
it's not the same without you,you were fond of the sea,it's expanse and
how  fish were free,if I must keep you,
alive I'll tell the hills, for so long as they exist so will you,but you
don't know any of these,
our hearts were
strong but you

may peace
engage you,
grief shall
comfort
Us in
our days.

Love
Waynepatrick Feb 27
This love seeps in my soul, it makes me whole,
Covers all the holes, from my head to my toes,
It lifts me up,it fills my cup,it fills all the gaps,
She's an angel, perfect from each angle, easy to handle
She swims in elegance, about her the air of heavenly fragrance, a mix of the Suns and moons radiance,
Gentle in her manners, royal in her steps, diligent in all she partakes,
Captivating words, far from things bad, nothing like you ever had,
Mine, forever mine, with her all is fine.

Lessons from my shoes
Waynepatrick Feb 26
Those shoes no longer appease,
Worn is their worth and so are the soles,
A lace is missing, the colour is faded and it's demeanour degraded,
Once they were new, once my delight in them no barrier knew,
But now nothing in them I see, never as they used to be,
In the homeliness not withstanding I found something I could  keep,
Material things soon rot away, your happiness should be somewhere safe,
Just as a rose is alive one day and the next it is dead,
So will your happiness be if from these things it is fed.

Melancholic
Waynepatrick Feb 21
Dismay is the accord of this lot,
As salt is to food,to them so is this mood,
Diligent practitioners of this way, only sleep relaxes the battles fought,
In it some derive pleasure,
Some a torment that dents,
Its embrace fills me, the presence alone thrills,
But with a fee it comes, any interaction steals glee,
Dear melancholic feel free, be all you can be.

As we set sail to the unknown deep,
Hands on the wheel,windward proceeding,
Ingesting the Caribbean blue, crew of two,

Though tempest hurls bow and stern we remain firm,
Fast our anchors will hold, docking in tough times but never quitting,
As long as I live,my love for you will never cease.

The measure is expanse, all you need is to come.

Pleasing to my being,my joy tenderly you shape,
Granted for you I would sing, gladly the glooms you take,

For you are not good except in everything,
You are  bad except in nothing.
I will make known your presence, that all may know your benevolence.

Till they have daughters
Waynepatrick Jan 31
About they go gloating their spoils,
Pleased with their deeds,
the many that fell for their ploys,
Numerous  hearts broken and lies spoken,
Enemies forged and broken bonds,
Men calling themselves players,
Till they have daughters,
Then they're cautious, scared for their loved one,
Regret all they have done and remain terrified that someone might do the same,
But guilty enough not to give any blame,
Compelled to correct the past, perhaps fearful of a certain curse,
Till they have daughters, girls are just part of the fun,
Till it's too late then nothing can be done.

I prepare to live
Waynepatrick Jan 21
The future fashions my thoughts and ways,
I am its fugitive night and day,
I conceit not to present nor past,
My spirit only on the future is cast,
The mind is clothed in its discourse,
Fancy set upon making it bright,
It bodes well for me,
Uncertainty troubles my thoughts only to a certain degree,
Generations of the horizon will accommodate themselves in the halls of peace,
Through my hands their lives will become bliss,
Up to then,I prepare to live,
For I do not live,I only exist.

Ones and zeros
Waynepatrick Jan 18
Our love is in bits and bytes, existing in electricity,
Propagated by signals and satellites ,in form of waves,
Other than that there is nothing else,we've never met,
You're in love with my messages and texts, a little of my voice and some good pictures ,
These comprises us,
When the lights are off so are we,sometimes we chose not to see,
But a virus came, our love it lay claim,
And took you along, left me alone,
So I rebooted my heart, programmed my mind to know it's a start,
Once our connection was lost, not a single signal through my antenna crossed.
Waynepatrick Jan 8
The way your lips curve when you smile, the light in your face when i say you're mine,
how your hips swerve when you come to me,
when you make me mad and I apologise for making you feel bad,
the pronunciations of your words, the dances you do just to make me look,
when you fall asleep in my arms then laugh the next morning when they are numb,
how you bring out my best without even trying and make me feel outstanding,
I love how you do these.

The Guest
Waynepatrick Jan 2
On a starry night as I was taking leave from the toils of the day, there came a knock on my door. My thoughts submitted to guessing who this late visitor could be. I found it impossible to hold my peace. Curiosity goaded me so much that I couldn’t miss to answer the door. Uncanny it was for such a thing to occur. The creaking floor bore semblance to the cry of unknown night creatures. Diligently I twisted the ****, relieving it of its duties and on opening the door  the sight that fell on my eyes left me shocked. Sweat trickled from my brow as I betook to welcoming this guest. Before me in my dim and clouded vision there stood a woman in a robe with a stature that did not surpass mine. She swam in a luster of beauty and her sight was pleasing to eye. Her manner of gait was magnificent and her hair coalesced into a bun that was neatly done. Her shapely ******* flushed me with desire. Such serenity left me perturbed. Her composure could make someone confuse me as the guest. I took it in her eyes that she wasn’t from this place. “Who could you be miss?” “Is there a way I could help you?” implored I. But she remained silent as if she was incapable of speech. Her eloquence in the silence did leave me uncomfortable. And for this cause I did repeat my question then she finally opened her mouth to speak. “Be so kind as to give me something to eat.” “For I am weak and bread the size of the palm would do." How sure can I be that you’re not a thief, thought I, but did not dare say. But she bore innocence on her face and looked stablished in the ways of the good. If all she wanted was food then I could spare some for her needs. I myself was a laborer and had used all of my proceedings for this. I hadn’t the slightest of clues of what her intentions were, only heavens could decipher if she had ostensible purposes. My weakness was empathy to the point I appeared naïve, but call to mind that this wasn’t true. To her request I did attend and gave her a loaf with a glass of milk. After mouthing the loaf, she appeared to sink into introspection as if she had suddenly thought of something. Her eyes fixed on my ceiling and her countenance devoid of all feeling. Then she connected with her senses and gulped the milk. Finally she turned to me and went ahead to explain how she couldn’t repay my favor. Recompense I did not expect but before I could speak she had the following to say. “My body is all I have to give and my heat can sustain you on this cold night and make you delight. Her words I marveled at and was quite confused. Her halls looked frequented by many men for her beauty was undisputed and her allurements were seducing… (to be continued)

The year is new and my plans are far
from few,
Love all those dear, hopefully face my fears,
Learn to say thank you, cause I know what it can do,
Bring more smiles, make my presence worth the while, make better choices, avoiding mistakes and doing all what it takes,
Distance from the fakes, find new chances and get in shape,
Listen more to what people say, carefully plan making the best of each day,
If I'm ready, find love and get on her best nerve,
Learn to be more open, make new friends again and again,
Finally be more mature cause after all it's my final year in my teens.

Reality
Waynepatrick Dec 2018
This forged reality seems not to faze,
armed with everything but knowledge,
on our way we think ourselves everything ready to face,
Living lives of shelves, consumer slaves, manufactured reality and packaged lives, all just a lie.
Always going along the grain, disregarding use of the brain,
Locked but not tied, guilty without being tried.
Trapped in the light of screens, more likes equal wins,
Enlightenment is shunned,ignorance is done,
The reality we embrace, this lane leads to disgrace.

Any place but here is better,
Life me up to greater heights,
Blow all my being away,

I will be your guest as we move from
Crest to crest,
We'll pass through the doldrums,
As our hymns we sweetly hum,
And if there should be fright,
I will cling on so tight,
In your knots I will drown,
Into the horizon we will go,
Those who gaze at use will have awe,
Further we shall proceed,
Till the memories off we get rid.

The moon will  shine for us
As we watch time pass
As we grow old together, with you beside me and I beside you
Our love be unfathomable to everyone except us
All I need is for you to take my hand
Let me lead you to bliss.

Man's nature
Waynepatrick Dec 2018
Man's nature calls for approbation and censure,
Extreme in undeserved love, extreme in unsolicited hate,
That hand that provides is the hand that takes,
The person claiming piety sins most,
On whose shoulder is leaned on,sends them to where they're from,
The bomber hopes for a better life, lives are cast by his die,
The preacher preaches lies, people blindly follow by,
The species that invented the bulb is the same species that sometimes shuns light,
Man's nature is indeed unique.

Sick of being on my knees, sick of missing the right key,
Of blaming the world and always deflecting the blame from me,
Not doing what I should have done, not allowing myself to have fun,
Being irresponsible and not practising what I preach,
Allowing myself to be ignorant and listening to the people who say I can't,
Tired of being this way, tired of feeling sorry for myself,
I promise to be better,I'll do my duties to the latter,
Not stutter in my deeds, not falling for these traps,
Disappointing those who believe in me,lying to those who trust me,
Being a coward when I should be brave, not giving what I should have gave,
Allowing distraction to occupy me,not abiding by my principles,
For all these I am to blame,I've learnt enough already,
I'm ready to make a change then up my game,
Whatever's at stake,I will take the steps,
However small or minute,I will no longer scream like a broken thing,
I am a brand new me.
