They feast on the abundance of your house,
and you give them drink from the river of your delights.
Psalm 36:8

I was hungry
You brought me home
sat me down
at Your feast table
where I was filled

I was lonely
You took me in
with Your love
made me family
until I was thrilled

I was thirsty
You sent a river
in front of me
flowing clear and free
I found refreshment

I was needy
You gave Yourself
for my salvation
I am accepted
for Your enjoyment
soul satisfaction is profound when it is found

Your wind whistles
I hear it
Snow hustles
across the ground
bands surround
then drift

Your cold chills
I feel it
Icy blast
on the skin
forces me in
door slammed

Cystal ice
Looking through it
Clear water
frozen twisted knife
reflecting my life
moving swift

Solstice short
I shiver
Daylight cut off
nights too tough
I’m sad

But spring will come
It seems forever
IT WILL COME!
holed up inside me
I’ll weather
I feel Seasonal Affective Disorder. January and February are sometimes really hard.

two
sometimes I make you smile
and the grin stays
for a little while
and then I think
“It makes sense
for me to be with you”
there is purpose
your world is better
I am too
ever need a reason to stay?

Opening the book
I do more than read
I expand
the borders
of my perception
with the thoughts
of others
Reading is lifegiving.
