Over Time
Tori Edwards Jun 2014
everything will wear over time
wether it be the pavement
a humans life
or your hand in mine

we memorise the lines
and play on fixed emotions
embedded in black ink
to a poem, or styled mime

words begin to fade
the musty scent of
yellowed, aged pages
everything will wear down
eventually

Over Time
Yup.

Grey Rainbows
Tori Edwards Jun 2014
There's a rainbow
in the grey clouds
Where hidden far beyond
is an Opal shaped
burning red sun

Like an artist
you are a dark romancer
With brown eyes
that haunt me in my sleep still

Your initials ark inked
into my skin
With one foot forward
and craving a grave
To lay this to rest

Changing faces
and teeth that gleam
You are a shifter
so shift to the beat

Behind grey skies
I hear an angels voice
she whispers your name
As I ride the rainbow
to the shallow depths
of my grave
Tori Edwards Jun 2014
I will sit here
forever, me
Just wondering why
the blood in
cracked veins
Turns to ink droplets
and became words
on countless pages

This isn't pain
That was not love
Either way
we are F R E E
as animals

Is this an Ancient
Marmalade Sky
and Champagne Rivers
Where we will
float away to
something louder
Then a prayer

I am sewn back together
with no anesthetic
But my insides tucked up
Gloss and clouds
Our memories are worth
every penny

With colours and textures
we are floating away
Under Marmalade Skies
and
Champagne Rivers

It's a cold, cold morning
and the coffee isn't helping
On the bed amongst tangled sheets
is where we left our happiness

The records are still playing
to a memory of a party
And your eyes are haunting
as you give me a smile

I'll show up one day
when you least expect it
Silently I pray you'll wait
Just don't give up on me babe

It's a cold, cold morning
and the coffee didn't help
I won't let us die
So take a walk with me
and let the smoke revive us

Slowing Down
Tori Edwards May 2014
Every page turned is wasted time
Every word written is wasting lines
Just another drop of poison
To fill cracked veins

Or to prove a heart's still beating

Sliced in half and completely drained
No one is as they seem
Our emptied black sockets
See nothing bar

An empty, gray beauty

Precious things will break, my dear
And we're all slowing down
In this world that keeps turning

Gray Sleeves & Black Tees
Tori Edwards May 2014
gray sleeves and black tees
balding head, is a case of stress
polka dots and happy things
New York City skyline...please?

i'll follow where the music leads
in sunny days with wintry things
whilst marching in the rose parade

lime green walls with black butterflies
and back street *******
whispering, whispering, whispering
just give us time to stay useless

gray sleeves and black tees
New York City skyline...please?

Tori Edwards May 2014
It's a cold, cold morning
and the coffee didn't help
On the bed amongst tangled sheets
is where we left our happiness

Jason's singing in my ear
but the bottles over there
I've seen the trilogy...yeah
We've seen this a hundred times before

Now Jason's still singing
but Ryan's on the calender
He's hanging out with the minions
and they all just stare

It's a cold, cold morning
and the coffee didn't help
So take a walk with me
and let the cigarette smoke revive us

Purple Velvet Wonderland
Tori Edwards May 2014
the snowflakes are falling
and slipping through frozen fingers
so don't cry ***
the summer'll be here soon

even if it seems
the roads are choking
under salt and ***** sand

Your love cascades down from
our purple velvet skies
While the whole world shimmers
and reflects the blue in your eyes

the snow can keep falling
until it covers our little English town
It's been falling all day long
but I don't mind because of your smile

everything is safe and sound
in our own little
Purple Velvet Wonderland
No matter how many times I edit this one, it never seems right to me.

Dr. Feel Good
Tori Edwards May 2014
The record player keeps spinning the Vinyl
black & white pictures on the walls
are beginning to talk
And the lights blink on and off

The same dark feeling of despair settles over me
during the early hours of the morning
It's a shame 'cause I've run out of whiskey
to help chase the inspiration and sleep
I desperately need

My thoughts cross to you sometimes
and I wonder where you are now
I guess you never kept that promise
as I've yet to see your name on a spine

I guess I'll go to bed now
I'll put on one more record
and muddle into the fog

These black & white pictures
are beginning to talk
And the lights blink
On and off
Experimental fictional piece. Thoughts and comments?

On the Road
Tori Edwards May 2014
Time has moved so fast
that we're not living in the 80's anymore
And all the friends I've gathered
along the way

have slowly started to disappear
One...by...One

And this old pattern
of moving from job to job
Is becoming a bore

So turn up the radio
and drive another 1000 miles

I'm still filling up this old backpack
with silver tins of sand
Each one labeled
from all the beaches I've been to

...So many different places

If you asked me where home is
I'd tell you I don't know

'Cause I've been to Albuquerque
Japan, and everywhere else
around this globe

I am a wanderer
My home is the road
