Emptiness

A hole inside my heart
Big; hollow; dark;
Has always been there
Never thought I should care

Covers up over time
Naive were the thoughts of mine
To think about a better place
With hope and love no pain and sorrows

Things I can not achieve
No matter how hard I try; imagine and believe
Still a hole inside my heart
Big, hollow and dark
Emptiness

We are trying to overcome
Our problems and flaws
We think they hold us strong within their claws
Wishing we could change ourselves
Knowing we will fail trying
This is my very first poem I've ever written. It also is one of my favorites. It can be interpretated in different ways. It is about trying to change the world for a better and seeing oneself failing in the process to do so. It is also about trying to change the very own personality to a better but finding oneself unable to do so and proceeding in falling into old habits that were thought to be overcome. Pain is playing an important role in this poem, which can sometimes knock you down. However even in the darkest moments one should not give up.

and I knew then that love would always love me
no matter what I did or wherever I went
love would find me at the end of all rainbows

But I'm open, you're closed
Where I follow, you'll go
I worry I won't see your face
Light up again

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the wrong words seem to rhyme
Out of the doubt that fills my mind
I somehow find, you and I collide

I'm quiet, you know
You make a first impression
I've found I'm scared to know
I'm always on your mind

Even the best fall down sometimes
Even the stars refuse to shine
Out of the back you fall in time
I somehow find, you and I collide

She breathes
Constellations straight into my lungs.
She leaves
Stars fizzing gently on my tongue.
Have you ever wondered why...

Why the sun rests in the sky
why the moon floats and fly's
and they never idle by...

Have you ever wondered why...

why death is hard to bite
why life itself is pushing
for friends and family to die...

Have you ever stopped to think...

though all that is unknown
your here and now is real...
stop thinking like your gone
its okay to be lost in thought, but also pay attention to what is going on around you, cherish the life that you have and recognize what is real in front of you
I wish to go to Nova Scotia
And long to play in Breton fields,
Faraway and over the oceans,
For ever a bonnie soul shall lead.

I wish to row for Nova Scotia
And glide above the seas trembling,
Far beyond my earthly devotions,
Where ever a bonnie soul shall lead.

I see long oars in every tree,
In ocean swells, a boat for me,
A lull of melodies in seabirds call,
Beyond the wave is music and song.

I will follow a star to Nova Scotia
And suffer on seas of forgetfulness,
To play a fiddle with joyful Scotians,
For ever a bonnie soul has needs.

I see long oars in every tree,
In ocean swells, a boat for me,
A lull of melodies in seabirds call,
Beyond the wave is music and song.

the blue will thrive in another shade.

sailing alone amidst the calm seas
calling your name with her silky voice

bask in the serenade of the skies
while the wind allows you to draw in
let the sand fill the gaps between your fingers
like lovers rekindling their sweet sorrow

let it be known
that you are millions and millions of atoms
tucked in safely where you belong in this space
that you are made of explosions of lights old as time
and you have never lost it; not then, not forever

rise against the morrow
graceful and serene.
