City lights
Christina Apr 2014
I am standing on a hill
Where city lights become
Fireflies that lead me home
And stars are night lights for
Those who are afraid of their
Thoughts that only come out
After the sun has set
And I am trying to think of
All the times when
Words didn't work
And all the times
I used pain to remind myself
That I am still alive
And all the times
I let people
Break my heart
Just so I could feel
Something
And I think I have
Kissed more bottles than people
But either way I still end up
Drunk on the idea of love

Wander the earth
Christina Apr 2014
We were made to roam every corner of this earth, to become nomads whose homes are inside each other.

Our hearts are too curious to be kept in this cage made of bones.

Washes away
Christina Apr 2014
He caresses her palms so often
And kisses her on the forehead
The way she likes since her parents
Never gave her the love she wanted;
It's as if he could erase the scars
That has been permanently carved
Inside of her for so long.
As each kiss lands on her skin
She forgets the the wounds are so deep; his touch is strong but it is tender and with each graze
Her pain starts to wash away.

Us

Us
We burned our love
To the ground
In the ashes
We are found

Red Roses
Christina Mar 2014
I like red roses because
I think they are pretty
Just like every person
On this earth right now
Except me,
And I know I promote self-love
But I have so much self-hate.
Well maybe one day
I will feel beautiful,
But for now I will help you
Instead.

I lost myself
In my own world
Where my thoughts
Are murdered
With unspoken words
Where there's a war
Going on
Between my body
And my soul
Where I try to
Scream and shout
But there's just no way out.

Rain
Christina Mar 2014
A cloud rumbles from above,
Rain drips and drops.
Each water molecule falls,
Crashing into rooftops and window panes, slipping through leaves, landing on gravel.

One lands onto an open page of a book, half-read and abandoned.
Ink begins to run, words blend together to form the unspeakable.

If you came back
Christina Mar 2014
I think the saddest part is that if you were to come back, I'd be with you in a heartbeat. Sure, everyone would understand, but if you came back, my mind would never forgive you for the way my heart shattered.

Handwriting.
Christina Mar 2014
Your handwriting.
The way you walk.
Which songs you sing.

It's all giving you away.
Everything you do shows your hand.
Everything is a self portrait.
Everything is a diary.

Collecting the pieces
Christina Mar 2014
i have been called
'broken'
so many times
that sometimes i
still find myself
picking up pieces of
who i used to be
off my bedroom

Beautiful things

She surrounded herself with beautiful things
In the hope that one day
She might become one of them.

Broken.
Christina Mar 2014
Maybe if I
Step on enough
Flowers
Or
Break enough
Hearts
I just might
Forget
I'm made of
Broken parts.

This is how it will happen
You'll be sitting on a rooftop
With a beautiful boy
And you will feel his eyes
Burn into your skin
And it will feel good.
This is how it will happen
You'll be sitting next to
A beautiful boy
And the whole world will be
Before you
And he will whisper
In your ear
The light of the universe
Is within you
And you will
Believe him.

Deadly
Christina Mar 2014
What's more deadly
A gun or a thought?

A gun gives you the opportunity,
But a thought pulls the trigger.
Christina Mar 2014
She liked to sit on rooftops
And go on airplanes because
She believed that if you got
As close as you humanly could
To the space surrounding earth
Maybe you could catch
Some of the falling dust that
Makes stars so beautiful.
