It's that time again
A war being waged
Between heart and mind
Upon the broken stage

Shattered reflections
Know how to dine
If only fate
Hadn't been signed

Then maybe
Just maybe
You could
Have been mine

they told me
it would be too late
to see the midnight stars

and they told me
not to wait because
the stars would never change

and they shamed me
when i did not budge
but sat with my friend Hope

yet now i am grown
and perhaps i should tell them
that at midnight
the stars proved them wrong

Take my heart she said
and place it between your ribs

Let me feel
an emotion, that has fled
my being for 2 years and counting

Take my heart she said
and color it red
let it blend with the color of passion

One that has chilled my sheets
with loneliness

Take my heart she said
mend its cracks, make it whole
for it looks nothing like a heart now

Just bits and pieces
barely holding on to
whatever keeps it going

Take my heart she said
and cover it with notes
that nurse it back
to mastering its own beat

It's just monotonous now
it needs a jolt
to bring it back
to bring
me
back

Take my heart she said
and when you're done
put it back
gently
If loving you is a sin
Tell the Devil I'm in
the game of symantics
the war of the words
participants battling
wielding their swords

the problem with english
too much means the same
with neither man wrong
it's our language to blame

What is it like, when the flowers start to bloom?
But the skies seem dark, filled with gloom

Or when the peaches are gold and starting to ripen,
But the pain inside- you could feel it tighten

And when you thought the stars above had finally lit up,
But your heart remained the same like an empty cup

Take my hand,
As we roll down the hills of melancholy
As we emerge from the ocean of uncertainty
As we run from the monsters of misery
As we exhale the oxides of evil
As we burn the remaining ashes of fear

Take my hand,
As we travel to the continents of curiosity
As we bite into the oozing deliciousness of joy
As we stay afloat on the clouds of comfort
As we fall into a deep slumber of silence
As we build a house out of these little bricks of strength (and patience)

All I'm asking you is to
Take my hand
