#wintersolstice
It was a hot summer day And I asked what your favorite season was You said it was winter, you loved the snow And that if there was a blizzard, we'd both go So we came up with a plan When the winter solstice took place We'd go out into the snow And we'd talk in the flurries and so I waited for the winter solstice And when it came, a blizzard did too And I ran into a snow-covered field alone The cold wind chilling me to the bone I waited for you to come And I waited for hours on end And while my teeth chattered, and my hands turned blue My heart warmed just thinking about you And I waited until the disappearance of the sun When I finally realized you weren't gonna come But it was too late, the cold had touched my heart And it stopped and would never again start

Once Upon a Winter Solstice
Lawrence Hall [email protected]   https://hellopoetry.com/lawrence-hall/ poeticdrivel.blogspot.com Everyone Writes a Poem about the Winter Solstice The moon is falling away from the full The axis of the earth will briefly pause Planets and stars align as the Maker wills And we wonder if we can sense our world Our world as she shivers across the night We must light a hilltop fire for her So that she will spin the light back to us While we search the heavens for that star That star that led us to a stable long ago And now bathes our souls with its silver glow

Everyone Writes a Poem about the Winter Solstice
Lawrence Hall [email protected] https://hellopoetry.com/lawrence-hall/ poeticdrivel.blogspot.com Everyone Writes a Drivelly Poem about the Winter Solstice And entitles it “Winter Solstice,” And yet Somehow the World Goes On The sun seems to stand still, and too, the world An Ouroboros of lockdowns and masks And the increasing divisions of partisans In yet another republic devouring itself There is an insubstantial Christmas truce Undeclared, a catching of breath and will In hopes that two-faced Janus will close his doors Against the failings of the coming year The sun seems to stand still, and too, the world We also wait, and search the skies for a Star

Everyone Writes a Drivelly Poem about the Winter Solstice...
There’s magic in that love Mothers’ homecooked Meals She’s my rehab Recoup dujour Chicken soup for body And soul And heart It’s a work of art. There’s magic in her Love.
