she was waiting in the lounge draped in shades of red and gray dazzling soon-to-be-knots and her waters had no fall i found her watching the coy when she saw me we weren't shy fights around us and a quick escape scrapes on meridians and cokes to chase if that was to be the end well we were never surer knocking on wood and the doors of strangers knowing what you know you knew when i knew you know what i do had i known you later or sooner what a regret every time did those quarters make a dollar? enough to bus to the idea and back that i died a few times and that you died a few times and that we are ghosts or you are or i'm living out a fantasy that you're still here but you are and that idea has changed the way iron patinas into a red from rust shades of knowing how you know me is water that douses me with the harrowing fantasy that i'm not here really and when i turn to ask you "did i die back there somewhere?" you'll say "you still owe taxes to the IRS!"

the way she knows me
Airplane WiFi by Sherman Alexie A poem written on Alaska Air Flight 2108 OCT 31 READ IN APP LISTEN TO POST · 1:13 30,000 feet above my reservation, I call down to my tribal childhood and the Indian boy that I was looks up to see me flying through the blue. Who could’ve predicted that I’d get paid so well to tell my tales? My grandmother once said that I’d always be the oddest one, the grandson who was born with a suitcase in his hand. But, no matter the glories found on the road, I’m often a lonely traveler because my stories and poems about my family can take me so far away from home.

Airplane WiFi by Sherman Alexie
I was walking here tonight and saw a billboard with an advertisement for a communications company with the strap line: 'Connects 100 devices in your home'. 'Connects 100 devices in your home'. I'm sorry but if you have 100 devices in your home you deserve to get hacked. 'Connects 100 devices ...' and what are these devices? This is my fridge freezer, its connected to the wi-fi, it Tweets me whenever I have the unmitigated audacity to have the door open for more than 3 seconds. This is my washing machine, its connected to the wi-fi, it emails me when its cycle is complete, even if I'm stood next to it doing the washing-up. This is my carriage clock, its connected to the wi-fi, it Tic-Tocs me when it stops. This is my games console, its connected to the wi-fi. This is my television, its connected to the wi-fi. This is my stereo system, its connected to the wi-fi. This is my central heating, its connected to the wi-fi. This is my dog. Its collar is connected to the wi-fi. What next? This is my *** toy, its connected to the wi-fi, it gives me pretty graphs on Facebook. (To audience: From that reaction I'll conclude that that last bit is already out of date. You naughty naughty people!) Pagan Paul (April 2022)

Its Connected to the Wi-Fi
It's the closest I've got to a soul. Ever present and when it isn't I'm hollow, desperate to feel its powerful touch, wash over me, connect me to the hive mind, the swirling voice, collective planet, except those with no access. Yes, it is life blood, cool streams in the desert, a thing so desperately sought.

The Singularity
A World Without Wi-Fi      »by Megha Elizabeth Koshy. ------------------------------------- The people in the world Like machines they go With tiny commanders On their palms At the streets, at the malls At the office, at the homes. Some even chattering to their buddies At the next door! People behave like dummies Who carefully keep ears sharp To there notification  tones, But never to their mummies! Kids who pay attention for their Comments and likes But never bother to brush their teeth twice! People are slaves of technology Like electronic gadgets If not plugged in they run out of life. Now just imagine.... A World Without Wi-Fi For one single day People may fall sick And some will even die! --------------------------------------

A World Without Wi-Fi
If I was a love poet I'd say I love you the same way a smartphone loves wi-fi; Able to work without you, but only fully functional when I'm with you.

Wi-Fi
Friends are our WiFi connection to life, An ATM card in need, A key that turns our sorrow into a smile, A balm for our pain, A moisturiser for our success, Guardians of our secrets, A rocking partner , a soulmate. The foundation of a good marriage is friendship.

Friendship
Agonizing, Torment, Panic All this because the Internet went out Bored, Lonely, Sad All this because the Internet went out What to do, What to do? Why are we stuck in an age where Wi-Fi breathes us life defines us, controls us? The minute it goes we freeze and forget how to live.

Internet Blues
I'm not addicted to my phone. I'm addicted to what it brings. My heart aches when its not with yours. So my heart leaps when my phone rings. I don't think of my phone as a simple device to communicate. I think of it as my connection to you. My connection to wifi is moot if we can still call. Because I have iMessage my other apps are few. So no, I'm not addicted to my phone, I'm addicted to you.

Let us write our stories   Reckon all moments A passage to self-reflection   With a display box of grandeur,   Fingers on a key pressed,   Levitates a search in no time, Way out of the crowd   Quiting a reality to roam and wander   Nothing is outside, all within   A big circle of virtual connections,   Without months of eye contacts   No face to face,   Sending empathy through e-thoughts Having a common ground,   Hope to run faster than Terabyte,   We love seconds more than a minute   WiFi made all worth living   Sending signals to the soul   We will feel it, anyway.

When guests visit you, Don't ask about their family, Ask,"How is your mobile? Is it doing well? Has it got a new cover? What about the speed of its internet server?" Then inquire politely, "Do you want to charge your mobile?" It will bring tears to their eyes, You have clenched a bonded relationship for life. Admire their mobile with interest, Like you would their kids. Appreciate their what's app messages, Their comments on Twitter and Face Book, You will have a friend for life. Last offer if they need your WiFi password, Your friend will breakdown with gratitude, You will get the bestest hug ever.

Moments notice, temporal  sign posts, shifted meanings and twigs of broken memories all standing stark, as white lights of embers glow, slow to realize the masses continue to wonder. Eyes blazing in the giggling realizations uncanny calling out, of the in between, as many of us glean and glimpse. Have you oh wondering soul heard? have you oh simple soul seen? If so what is it you have grasped of this altered edge of oblivion? fair the a well spring of signs to set your heart and mind free? Or only to cast your gullet into eternal slavery, under the cutting reality of a cemented view? Flowing edge of the swells this temporal cascading do cause the light do play in the reflections truth of stability abound in focus and vibratory standards , counted and measured only in the minds eye and the hearts manifestations of excepted adherence to a collective? Or have you , or I , us sad and amazingly fickle souls found the true sound of sound doctrine? One of truth , love and understanding? For seems this dear hearted friend, is far from the end, though not the beginning unless the glimpse of it has been felt and rendered assured in your own heart, least we get ****** again from the very, very distant pasts start. So, it is asked yet again, where do we stand in this torrent and gelatinous time of man? Or shall we start all over again and wonder how tech can strip and manipulate the core and essence of a man and his absolute grasp of what is changeable in our entire past? Or is it merely and simply just that we are all on the very edge of our dreams in this construct of a thing?

Could You Not?
Have I gone too far? Does he still love me? Am I still making sense? Does he hate me? Am I being unfair? Putting too much pressure on him? Did I say something wrong? Am I being too clingy? Should I ignore him? Or avoid him completely? Maybe we're not meant to be? Maybe the timings all wrong? Will I ever be enough? Do I deserve his touch? Does he want me alive? Am I better off dead? Will these pills even work? Or will I just fall asleep? Will I ever wake up? Am I dead yet? Maybe....

2014
I lost it when the storm blew, Wi-Fi, laptop, iPad too. On my kindle, no bars found, Oh lord, the internet is down. My Facebook friends no longer poke, I cannot tweet a single joke. My iTunes offer not a sound, Now the internet is down. I finally fix that broken chair, Clean my room, wash my hair. Then I wander all around, Now the Internet is down. The library’s packed. And the theater too, I need my fix. Can I sit here too? Is Wi-Fi in another town? Now the internet is down. I’ll search the house and find a nook, To finally read that Dan Brown book. My thoughts are clear, my soul unbound, Now the internet is down. I’ll study French. Take up guitar, I’ll search for wisdom, near and far. To internet’s death, I raise my cup, Wait. Never mind. It came back up. :)

Digital Apocalypse: The Internet Is Down.
Getting ready to play a video game in a nice, not-actually-dusty-but- has-the-comfort-of-dustiness-like Bookstore. Maybe. "Townhall free wifi." That's just great. I mostly just cry and complain and wonder why dolphins are so optimistic as to not just off themselves, since they can consciously do so. Free wifi though. I mean, that's just cool.
