Praise be to thee, O fair Serenity,
the ever-merciful, the ever-just,
above the highest heaven Sovereign:
to thee I fly, thy counsels shall I seek.
Guide me along the narrow, treach’rous path
—the Path of those Thou findest favour with,
but not of those thy love hast ridiculed,
nor of those whom thy Justice brought to shame.
