Transcendent fire raced across the firmament.
Gods cloaked in immortal flame
Twist and spark in a flailing spiral;
A maelstrom of what love and passion
Can be when faced with jealous anger,
Where every punch after punch is followed by

Bruising the divine ego as lightning splashed
Into arcing currents carrying jolts of lust,
Rashly discharged at the slightest touch
Or look,
Set off in electrical series—
Chaining off each other as if they were but magnets
Held in opposition, forcing their way into each other's
Hearts;
Gripping and grasping at the steady beating,
Each pulse a gasp of pure ecstasy,
Sending gusts of wind storming away,
Darkening the landscape as their descent
Churned the oceans into white-capped tsunamis.
Their reach global as the two hurricanes collided,
The shockwave reverberating into waves of force,
Echoing into the very bones of the divine lovers,
< Shattering >
The moment their lips met.
And everything froze.
Ice frosted and transformed the holy couple;
The atmosphere hardened into a blizzard of glass.
Sickles sailed across the sky,
Piercing the pair into an impaled embrace,
Forever binding their love and rage
Into the night sky:
Orion
And Artemis
The hunter and the moon.

Entropy is increasing,
Slowly reducing order to disorder
Like all things must,
As confirmed by thermodynamics
And witnessed by aging,
To the point where all things
Weather,
Wither,
Die.

Alive.
Love,
Loss,
Is the malady of experience;
A means to interpret energy
Such that
Whatever choices
You must make
The first law is final:
One conversion,
No waste.

Reality is an empty blank (?)
Expanding, quivering
With its unimaginable scale
in light-years!
Gradually quickening its cosmic throbbing
Peppered with everything that dies
Galaxies
Stars
Planets
People
Obeying a thermodynamic process --
That tyrant among physical laws!
From which nothing is exempt
Even you and I.
Thus, human vanity:
A cosmic joke that fades to nothingness
All aspirations, ambitions
******* by entropy
Quashed to oblivion
All is dust.
And yet, humans toil to fulfill
a delusion
Their hope lies in their work
Their progress, their successes
Salvation!
Still, the universe expands...
Uncaring, disinterested
cold
Not minding the plight
of the human microbe.

yes, we all wonder sometimes
if we are more than meaningless specks
on a dying planet and
yes, all things tend toward chaos but
you, staring up at the stars wondering,
are a counterexample

Tangent, like so
Back side, torso
Two systems touching
Move ever so slow
Breathe in the body heat
Top off both of the lungs
Feel those expand the diaphragm
Stretching body to its limit
Then halt
Then hold
Let the ribcage further swell
To the point of nearly bursting
First stroke
Feel cold air tingling the nose
Make contact
Release the diaphragm
Slowly, almost without motion
Pour heat outside into the chill
Until the airways close down shut
Press on, then press some more
And take your breath away
Second stroke
The cycle starting over
Rhythmic, measured, patient
With maximal efficiency
Each night,
You prove through me the limit
of possibility
