What did that teach ya son did you learn to be a man did you glean a little knowledge did you, even understand? Was there an epiphany did angels celebrate the sound did heaven open up it's gates was it consecrated ground? Or did the end define the depth, and width of chill the poor yet poorer now the rich yet richer still

Status Quo, Yes, Status Quo
I want you to see her- but she winds, unwinds on an old question-hook she is pinned by it. spins around and around. paper-windmill - razor wire, every rotation more freedom. remove her for you? no. she’d bleed-out in the knowing, and a tortured dancer is better than no dancer at all.

*where presidents die in power the opposition die trying Musicians die on stage police in the line of duty nocturnals due to ***** Soccer players on pitch teachers while they teach soldiers die fighting refugees and paupers die crying drivers die on the wheel painters die with a quill thieves while they steal addicts die of smoke and pills nobody wants to retire even at Robert Mugabe's age they all cling to talent and power so tempting and inviting won't we poets too die reciting?*
