#snowdrop
Not for you
Winter's truculence.
Unlikely extrovert,
Up you thrust
Into
The jagged air
Defiant
Yet
Gentle
Anthropomorphism
Of the
New.

A hidden lance of green
To pierce the grip of winter's icy breath
As sharp as kitten claws
Yet delicate as painted window frost
The herald calling softly
Rousing far more mighty forms to wake from sleep
Spring has begun

A lonely snowdrop initiates the dance
out in the woods on the bare ground
they emerge, one by one
as shooting stars on a highway
they embroider a blanket of white serenity
to embrace spring and greet her once again
