girlogue (genz)
I should've known from the first ride, that I would be falling fast. I should've felt it from my first fall, that your show must go on. I should've known from the first rodeo, that should've been the last. I should've felt it from my first trot, that I'm better off riding alone. I should've known you couldn't choke the horn, but you were all but a yellow-belly. I should've watched how you 'let her rip', yet a horse is all of my riches. I should've believed you don't want no cahoot, but I rode for you 'til dawn while hungry. I should've watched you ride to the sunrise, yet I am left chasing sunsets. But I am still the greatest, with or without a lily liver cahoot. I am the best, from east to west, a taste from my lips would prove it's true. I am the lone star that shines the brightest, with or without your hat on, you'll be blinded. I am all of the gold that they all rush to, the legend they call 'light at the end of the tunnel'. You should be sorry, oh you should be sad, all you would be is a runaway robber. Because I could've been your brokeback god now I would be everything but your lover. I put my hat down to say sorry for being your bandit, Now I ride to where the lights would welcome me, far away from all the grime, dirt and strife They all cheer and whistle and holler my name, while you weep that your whole life, let alone your morning rides will never be the same.

The Greatest Cowgirl Of All Time
"But let me tune you the live about life's simulation, that assimilates one's worth. Poetry's code isn't of ones and zeroes, but of all lines and words" Says the wit of a coloured oan wanting to chuff the girls It's all about the honeys, and maybe some sweet success of hustling for a little extra money Taking a stand on every stanza, I grew up to different standards Unlike the hood rapper clutching the 48 hammer, I was taught in my hood how to hold a 48 spanner I have my odds in odes; every heavy breath in each coma—not so common Given the stereotype of dealing and robbing To steal your stereo if the right type, and best to drive with caution A dark skinned coloured fitting in with the blacks by appearance Accents do tend to change ears intently hearing Whites think I'm that way out of a private school fashion But I did at times hang out with the wrong crowd, at times on weekends smoking **** and relaxing And yes I'm actually coloured; to those of you asking Hit you with a "hey what's up, what's happening" Don't mind me asking questions with this sort of coloured accent "Yoo what's the story," we start our conversations in the morning. A different kind of breed Godsent I don't force how I speak But if it disturbs the peace I'll change my tone of speech And find solace in writing another poetry piece                                             _@the Coloured poet_

I grew up in a family Where there was more questions than outcomes. The pain numbing me for a change to come Learning from the gist of things. I still feel from all my learning I am not the brightest but far from dumb I am not going to fail my son Trials in traveling I am facing everything I am in need to become. They pray and they plot My soul will not rot I am going to the top Sit back and watch. Get in the way. Get dropped. Albums coming in stock. Stories will hit the block. Don't test me. I lost a lot. None of it's fake it's no mirage. Mirror me back, and blend in without camouflage I go hard as Smith You will get Rocked. I will steal my own life before you take all I got Nah I never stop. Never feared any op You over here looking lost. Fools think I'm soft. You just full of talk You wanna go with me? We gonna run through roadblocks. You ain't ready to walk Don't make yourself a mark. I'm silent as the dark. Quarrels with my absent counterpart. Obliterate. I am shattering your mind from a far. I burn with the shine of a star. I got the key for you if you lacking the heart. Reminder to my child make the moves that are smart! Real talk.

Lifeless You lay there Dead and cold Touches Light flicks Dry and rough Quiet Not a sound Scream nor praise Question What is wrong Flaccid and limp Horror Hands are filth Unwanted intruders Recoil Shake in guilt Truth stabbing tears

This poem was written to describe/honor a boat-shaped wooden sculpture on which a town was built. Here’s humanity chucked on that tub Figure the fuss in the ship’s hold Roaming ‘round the deck, helm is hell for holding How come that outland ship ain’t capsizing? They ****** up their toll of ****** ***** Thrown out, left behind, they’re coping with that schism Roving ‘round Ocean blue between two small isthmus Grinning like they used to ain’t gonna be easy fun. Here’s humanity beating it to starboard If they had behaved themselves, possibly God almighty wouldn’t have batted an eye Zealous lots in exile on that ****** city-boat They built up walls ‘gainst their bitter heartbreaks Alleys, their homes and even small gardens On a boat! Oh my, isn’t that tub gonna sink? The wind-facing prow is a freakin’ chimera! Such a craft is like a merry-go-round You feelin’ sea-sick ? Looks like a hiccup! It’s not rocket science, maybe a bit pitchin’ Here’s these talented convicts’ last resort! Translated from the original version in French, July 19, 2018, Oullins. Appoline

The drunken sailors’ company
Correcting lines, Painting new stripes with clear coded markings, Her curiosity is like an allergy to the heart, Constantly craving to itch, but my reach is coming up short, Torturing me with her innocent smile; a blushing cheek, Eyes glowing in the direction of the teacher; an aspiring Jedi, All I gave her was an answer, A simple coat of honesty like armor to the Knight, Abstractly patching together a robe of consistency, She absorbs my words like a bubble attaching itself to another; becoming the giant, An ever growing cloud of thought steaming fatter and fatter with the act of knowing, I gush inside with the discovery of my own blemish to language, My absent mind on autopilot as I glide into her turbulence, Eyes completely stuck in this string of moments, one after the other, I sit on my porch and wait for them to come home.

BADD, no wale.
They’s times when I Jess cain’t say it good And times when I am Jess plain amazing; Then teachers and snobs Seem to all agree and Subject whut I say to Harsh degrees of hazing. It seems like they ain’t never Said the wrong word before Whatever, they jess don’t Seem to put me on ignore And move to importanter things Than grammarical stuff; As fer me, I’m jess turnin’ them off ‘Cause I have had me enough. I only had me an education Up to the eleventh grade or so A whole buncht of that silly stuff I got told but I still don’t know. My dad and my mom too They got taught just like me. And I talk good enough for them. Change my perfectly acceptable talk? Really now, the chances are slim. We say ain’t and cain’t and acrost And other such acceptable words. And some of the more ‘proper’ things Ain’t nothin’ but jess plain absurd. Like widdershins and tatterdemalion, Sequipedalian, octogenarian as well. If I’m expected to talk like that Y’all can just go straight to hell.

SAY WHUT?
"I always wanted to wander." "To wander? To where?" "From Walla Walla to Uganda." "That's a wide world to wander!" "You wanna?" "Wanna what?" "To wander?" "To where, Uganda?" "Youbetcha!" "I don't want to onomatopoeia anymore!" "Are you refusing me?" "You're confusing me!" "Do I do that usually?" "Yes, and it's abusing me! "I didn't used to be." "But you see it's no use to me, So start talking lucidly! You're coming across abstrusely By talking so loosely. You've got a lot of 'splaining to do Lucy." "It started out grand!" "But quickly got out of hand." "But you fail to understand." "You should have planned." "Is that a reprimand?" "You're like the ampersand." "I don't understand." "It means 'and per se and'; The pronunciation became bland And three Latin words became 'ampersand'." "But, don't you need a vacation?" "What is the relation?" "It's a matter of pronunciation, And sometimes punctuation. Some words deserve elimination. Yes, and some deserve illumination. Thus my original illustration. In the interest of communication, Some things deserve enunciation." "I will accept that explanation." "But, I'm still hugely fond of The two of us going to Uganda; As we internationally wander I'm sure it will make you fonder The more the two of us wander." "But I really don't wanna!" "Don't wanna what?" "Go to Uganda!" "That's what you don't wanna?" "You betcha!" "It's okay. They probably won't letcha."

DISCUSSION
****** Bag in sunglasses donned indoors where fluorescent sunlight cannot justify the obfuscation of haughty eyes so the visage is one of pure pretension and cockiness, dichotomized as self-assuredness and the colloquial term for the phallus, a literal **** (I see him strongly in the memory of a high school field trip returning home school bus late night he sits sideways back to the window head leaning back sunglasses donned smug grin I rendered him the vessel and the scape goat bearing my burning hatred for the inflated ego wrapped in an undesirable chic I deem deplorable, hate hate hate) Smug grin, I wrote this poem from a bean bag in the corner of the library third floor whilst wearing sunglasses and a taste of irony on callous lips twisted in an invisible sneer.
