Time like water, freezing an all-encompassing silence, Before thawing, rushing by as noise breaks a dam. Shared understandings, a new language of the mundane: Liam, lavender, ewes, cheese and ham. Time ebbs and flows, a world intemporal again, Each measured minute lacking precision, Senses dulled by repeated noise, voices, mumbles. We have no sight, only Vision. Or rather, our visions – where the mind fumbles, Unattainable perfection, our own pitfalls and abilities, A looping rope contorting infinitely into itself. Creating a mesh of support and supporting, Trust and overwhelming vulnerability. Screens of artificial light, windows of filtered, dimmed sunlight, And a breeze of processed air. Worn out faces, comfortable silence, a weight and sensation shared. Whispered phrases, unfinished stories, jokes and sarcasm, Flashes of iridescent movement in a still pond. Explosive laughter and energy, a sudden crazed spasm, Like a lunatic’s laugh, a sealing bond. Rigor mortis, tragic and inevitable echoes of life, Embers that ignite humour and renewed purpose. The phoenix’s potential of rebirth – to invigorate. We are reactive, feeling sponges, Soaking up but also washing away. Becoming clean slate –
