#separating
So many loved catching the buzz,
When the government gave away money for free,
Then they raised the minimum wage,
Wasn’t that such a thoughtful deed,
Then the prices of everything quickly started to rise,
Now you do realize, that everyone got stung by the bee.
The more you accept from the government,
The more control, they have over you, if you let it continue,
Your freedom will be totally gone too.
What happened to the basic rules, in America,
Where anyone could advance, and be free,
Everyone keeps separating from each other,
Because of two five-letter words, power & greed,
There will always be times when anyone,
Could be in need, the citizens, all need to accept,
Join together, keep closer watch, of the hives,
Stop the invasion, of the swarming bees.

I am waiting
for the memories to fade,
like shadows in the night,
as even we could not last,
through the dark times
as you walked away.
Our hearts burned colder,
our thoughts went astray,
the rift grew wider,
until nothing remained,
but our weary souls
and tear stains.

A single flower
Delicate fragile beauty
Missing the garden

I hope you keep the taste of your dreams on your tongue,
When you’re gathering the courage to run towards stormy waters,
And I hope that when you reach the shoreline,
Your unspoken words rest on your eyelids,
So that every time the water burns your eyes,
You find comfort in your heart’s lullabies,
Written for you to keep you warm,
when the thunder shatters your barriers.
I hope you remember all the words we exchanged,
Because I’ve written yours upon my sleeves,
Hoping that you would remember them too.
I hope that when you reach the other side,
You’ll find the colourful remnants of the setting sun,
They’ll wash the lightening away from your eyes,
So that you can see the outline of your shadow,
As you reunite with your past self,
The one that hasn’t forgotten how to dream.

We've signed that truce a couple hundred times
Still step on the same couple thousand mines

I can't help but laugh
when I think about how
the only thing separating us
is 32 hours
and an eternity

There's something odd about it.
How I know their names, their personalities, the jokes they tell.
How I know the plans you guys have made and the fun activities you'll all do as a team.
How I even know the costumes they'll wear and the conventions you will all go to.
And I know what I'd say in conversation with them,
How I'd get to know them better,
How I would put my best foot forward,
How I've longed to actually hear their voices so I can match them with their persona.
But that's not in the cards.
It's okay, I'm okay.
But sometimes I realize how disconnected I am from your world.
How far away and far removed I am.
And I remember that no one knows me.
None of them know my name, or my personality.
They don't know the plans we have made or activities we are planning.
They don't think about what they'd say to me in conversation, or how they'd "get to know me better".
They wouldn't need to put their best foot forward or hear my voice to match me to the rest of my persona....
Because to all of them I don't exist. I'm a distant acquaintance from a long time ago.
I am a passing name in very loose conversation every couple of months.
I am the one who knows but isn't known.
I am a ghost.
And no one in your life can see me,
Except for a very special person,
And that's you.
