IIn memory of Renée Good and Alex Pretti They took the money eagerly And strapped the iron to their waists. Our nation’s pride was called to defense And who were they to shun the call? A gentle but troubling voice Whispered faintly in their memories. “Blessed are the peacemakers Do not fail to love your neighbors.” This is no time for mealy empathy! We must march for our nation’s purity. The time has come to rid our cities Of these God forsaken waifs. “Unless you have transcended sin, Do not cast your leaden stones” “Suffer not the little children Does not mean to bring them pain.” With so many aliens to banish, Who has time for bleeding hearts? We must move on Minneapolis And waste no mercy on terrorists. “Stop! She’s a mother of three.” “Stop! He’s a veterans’ nurse.” “Stop! Beat your pistols into plows!” “Stop! Do not leave your God behind!” But the fire rang out and God’s children fell! Men had taken money eagerly And strapped the iron to their waists. As for gentle Jesus, once again, he wept.
