I thank him and he says politely: 'No problem' -- That's not: 'With pleasure' ?

[ I thank him and he ]
Seducing someone to want to go to hell, that -- is really subtle.

[ Seducing someone ]
What I meant to say carefully, in my letter, I have omitted.

[ What I meant to say ]
My polite smile is a candle it burns occasionally flickering throwing shadows eating itself losing form softening when the lights go out there is nothing there!

Polite Smile
I have said all that's to be said, And you have listened, And I have listened, To the end, gaining what? Our words are co-absurd, Inexpressive turds of information, Dung heap of nonsense, Good will with perfect enunciation, But crawling with itch, twitch and head-nod, In place of mutual understanding, A babelmist of manners and small talk, In which we are umbrella-less, Soggy with positivity, But it's for the best, I guess, Have a good day, till tomorrow then? Finally! Until, tomorrow, we say it all over again.

Is civility a good-willed politeness to other people? Is the benefit of being civil to a person I disagree with that I maintain my joy and happiness and the other person’s joy and happiness?

Civility in Disagreements?
Don't you ever think before you open your mouth? I swear to god, this brazen bluster puts your IQ in doubt I liken you to a bottle of Impotent self-doubt You work yourself up until- BAM! It explodes out There are seriously so many things I'm trying not to say 'Cause some of us have manners And a smidgen of good grace If you'd chew over the issue Before screaming to wake hell- Oh, sorry, guess that's too much For your singular brain cell...

Blow Out
We tell everyone lies they want to hear, Translucent guns are waved from face to face. We say “It’s nice to meet you” out of fear, of being ****** and marked to be erased. The sociable are  given gifts of gold, While loners rot in cages made of words. All your expressions need to be controlled, If your wish is to live among the birds. We strive to be the people that we hate, Jealousy turns our heart into a stone. We claw with nails and teeth on iron gates, we built ourselves and choose to leave alone. Emotions build behind a mask of clay, and masks explode on those whom we betray.

Fastidious noises, thoughtless behaviours, Far from consciousness, lack of education Or merely of attention, while hands pick Food plunging in serving bowls to stuff The mouth so plenty it barely closes. Licking fingers, displaying stained teeth, Chewing forcefully, yearning for oxygen Between an uttered word and a mumbled One. Fostering boorishness masquerading As liberty, as if politeness is currently outdated. Reducing the annoyed to an uptight unable To enjoy freedom, where mannerism is a cell, As I courteously turn the other way and refrain From speaking my true mind, not to offend, As I have been brought up to be considerate, And swallow.

We're not human Riding on what waves The length of our spines will flex to Shiff ff fting focus as if from congealed lenses, blushing crimson worries I forgot what I was meant to be told I lost the talismans given me Pupils leave glass classrooms And can't be hoped for any more Than in the grim mission they're handed, but we're not human For we aren't sorry, not grieving the passing off of pleases And the absence of grace No churches, ties or classrooms push us forth no more We're no longer human For we forgot how to spell that word With every ounce of our body

We
four decades of professional life     considered with benevolence (how else …?) have altogether not turned out so badly even though no party politics helped me climb the ladder of not so easy scholarly achievement often in the beginning I discovered that my politeness was mistaken for simplicity and so I had to learn a bit about    how I could stand my ground to kick the shins of those who thought     they could step on my toes with cool impunity until they noticed that they were mistaken over the years I found my ways to garner     not everybody’s love     but their respect and recognition      which is what we all mostly need      eventually

It hurts when people look at you Like you're a big mistake They say there's nothing you can do So you just cry and shake They **** you with their judgments And say you're a disappointment But this is what I'll say to you Don't let them change who you are Let them underestimate you Then show them just how wrong they are Spread your wings and soar up high Prove them that you can touch the sky Let those who doubted you Rue the day they belittled you Shoot an arrow of kindness Stab them with politeness **** them with success And bury them with a smile

**** And Bury
We have the look of another place. The rain forest dries to deepest desert where meat is on special. Politeness grips my hand in a firm shake.

I saw chemistry Between your smiles And my shy looks. I mean, I really did See something In the way You handed me that cigarette, In the way You asked me to spend the night, In the way You made me feel less empty. I don't know. Maybe I simply read too much Into your politeness. Maybe you're just another guy Who already belongs To someone else. F.Z.N

Someone Else
In a generation of decadence it's sad that we cannot simply enjoy simple civility. Perhaps inflation has taken a toll on our cost of living increasing the price we need to pay to earn civil manners.
