#pheromones
Why desire night-blooming jasmine,
yet refuse sandalwood’s calm?
Frankincense drifts outside,
myrrh’s sorrow wagered within.
Orange—innocence so pure,
Yet freshness shimmers only in light;
Musk—the scent of hormone,
Sweetness of oxytocin's pulse.
What is the lemon zest of dark
fragrances … in burning smoke
or secretive pheromones it craved for?

What Goes Around, Comes
by Michael R. Burch
This is a poem about loss
so why do you toss your dark hair—
unaccountably glowing?
How can you be sure of my heart
when it’s beyond my own knowing?
Or is it love’s pheromones you trust,
my eyes magnetized by your bust
and the mysterious alchemies of lust?
Now I am truly lost!

His scent
lingered
and so did I
I drew him in
a pheromone high
Feeling things
I'd never felt
I was high as ever
off the way that he smelt
Like labor
a nit and grit flavor
just strong enough to savor
with a hint
of old leather
there is no smell better
feeling the scent (sent)
like a love laced letter
his smell gets me high
always makes me feel better
A pheromone high
I can't deny
as long as it lingers
so will I

Faint smells of him
stain my clothes
& now & then
whiffs of his
cologne
catch me off guard
& suddenly
my mind aches
to smell him
in my bed
on my body
to engulf myself
in him
