We are trained as a dog For the goods of men Clear blue views beset by fog Moving a post yet again For happiness and joy we push and pull Tugging hard for our next big goal Tapping of ploy for conscious lull stock of words to repay what self stole How uncomfortable and uneasy In beds softer than feather summer longing wintery breeze And weds sympathy to untended tether So unbecoming that many If not all, are destined for high Castles But signs for each and direction way Scribbled in words strange left baffled Left us wandering the day so we wander around outskirts Our whole lives astound at direction lost Until we stop to rest in the shadows berth Cast from wall; Rest - easy pay, for a castle cost And with wisdom we come to terms Dispelling notions of castle ever existing And bless the summer when cold winter fire sitting happy with shack, while inner bailey persisting Old we grow, happy in the cool shadow of the wall Wisdom shaded in peace, but never the wiser For a peace slow gained, great and tall That traded castle; labelled rejection of miser Taking shelter in a stall Not shortly, we make peace with nature But never reply to her demands Lost for all its noble grandeur the stillness and rest against sign-stand Dogs do not read, and this humans know So let us roam, enjoying the sway In this calm beneath posts and shadow thrown The castle; surely a dream from younger day
