*"Leave the lights off and on,
I feel mysterious tonight,"
she says.
"Every time you look different,"
replies her careful ecstasy.*
Practice makes perfect,
and from chaos comes 💋 (kissing).
She floats free from
her own body's outer reaches:
The mirrorball and the mystic circle.
The mirrorball is a light
for attracting attention.
The mystic circle
is an unsustainable trance.
*"Will I dream during the process?" she asks.
"Only if you know the wild that wants you," chants the infinite unsayable yes.*

We crowd into a darkness of neon and strobe lights, sweating grasping thrusting jumping,
Deafened; ears by bass and spirits by alcohol
As of a single mind, like the maggot, we wriggle and crawl blindly back to the darkness from whence we came-
But I dream
Of not seeing you
In a faraway forest,
Touched and untouchable,
Naked and triumphant,
Wild and free.
Dancing
In a sunbeam
A shaft of light
Penetrating the throbbing verdant green canopy,
Shining brighter for the privilege of caressing your cheek
As the wind plays with your hair,
And the earth trembles under your toes,
Eyes bright, soul soaring,
Enraptured by the music of the wild god of the world,
Ears filled with laughter at the very notion
That you could ever be anything less
Than a goddess

You’ve got your disks ready, your tracks loaded
Your club full, your drugs in
Laptop in front of your fingers
Fiddle with the house rig, call the sound guy back
One more time
Check the setup, recheck the setup,
Check your charge
Battle record on deck, you’re set
How’s your cues?
Run through the tracks and the channels
You’re sprinting
It’s all set, all set, all set, all set, all set
Drink your water, throw it back
Thumbs up the light guy
Toss the bottle under
Your gear under your fingers, worn
And won
Breathe. For a second.
Perfect.
Feel the crowd quiver, feel the house shiver
There’s magic in the air.

They said it was a joke
I said it was a violation
Sure, we are mired in contradiction
Draping our bodies in nightshine,
all lit up and spilling ourselves onto the dance floor
in six-inch heels, skin-tight dresses and mocking smiles
We are a fortress of frozen, starry eyes
Do we crave
free drinks or freedom? Yet should
I say no, why
would you make your beefy hands
the instruments
of unchecked desire?
They said it was a joke
I said it was a violation
