DST Daylight “Savings” Time
not time itself, described infinity stone times as fast or slow,
an absurdity, for time is inexorable, a single speed, it is only
our measured misperceptions that modifies how we count it,
not even yet a 6:00am, and the weekend clean up chores
chores still need falling away, as the ladies who drink,
into the weekend night be-knighted, while watching the
very BRit-ish baking contestings & United Kingdom murders most dazzlingly and wonderfully puzzling, leave me gifts of emptied
wine glasses and one swig left of my prosecco best eyetalian wine,
and other deserted dessert leavings china-plated droppings, are washed and returned to the home cleansed, ready for office re-shelving,
the first poem of the day has been written~wrapped for regifting,
after a through behind-the-ears scrubbing for little black typos,
17 ounces caribbean + 2ounces of fairlife, fat free, skim milk
in hand awaiting its morning sacramental gratitude blessing,
and badass poet on/in the couch, wondering who stole the daylight
and the sun rising, just because we wand waved, and now what was
midnight somehow becomes 11:00pm, and we have somehow saved our daylight time once again, turning our needy prototype protesting manual devices to “fall” fall back to show the cor-react-ed time,
and very theoretically, gained an hour extra of-ho-ho-ho,
honmaking believe we may yet fall asleep….saving myself from time…

what's special about an inch? it's a made up length
no one says "centimeter-ing"
it's "inch-ing"
centimeter is rigid, 1/100 of 1 meter
"why can't the U.S. adopt the metric system"
"it's terribly inefficient to keep using the inch"
but i guess we maintain our stupidly stubborn pride
by insisting on using an inch
a made-up length arbitrarily determined centuries back
by some too-privileged royal who happened to have
a pinky joint - or toe - the length of an i n c h
as an american, however,
i can't help but appreciate the meaning behind
"inching"
as in
we're inching our way towards different goals
we're going at our pace, at our length
the speed and distance we arbitrarily determine for the day, or
for
our lives
because we just have that kind of agency
over ourselves
if we 'centimeter-ed" towards our goals
what fun would that be?
1cm a day? Fixed distance to a fixed goal, onto
the next one,
and the next,
rather than inching across desert plains
of depression
going our speed, our distance, our pace, each day
doesn't matter, so
as long as we make progress towards
what we want
to do

As we lay
our bodies intertwined
She looked up and asked
"How much do you love me?"
Tracing my pinky finger from her lips
down to the crescent birth mark over her heart I said
"As many atoms that exist from here to there".
