#landmarks
Established landmarks removed test the fates Burning wind in a vacant sky Rearranged cosmic hemispheres of mind Oracle of day not seen with naked eye The need for warmth a thing of the past Frigid waters the basis of new-fangled cell Tortured derelicts kept from spiritual vision Oracle of night hangs in day’s empty shell Dubious means to generate a sun of artificial light But a fling cannot replace a love that is shunned Yet warm rays of sunlight still flow above the temporal Still hanging in defiance of the 60 cycle hum Regain your bearings oh heart of true light Everything in its place: oracle of Night and oracle of day.

Landmarks: Oracles of Night and of Day
Each word is a map to a shared memory Sometimes my directions are incorrect Or may take you on a scenic route Such that you forget the destination until you reach it I guide by landmarks The names of roads are all forgotten by me Only their twists and turns remain in my mind

I'll Take You There
If I showed you a picture of her, All else becomes background. Before the Eiffel, she towers high; She is the Alberta Foothills to the Rockies; As curvaceous and meandering as the Amazon; More story than Bunratty Castle; The most intriguing smile at The Louvre; More endurance than The Spirit of St. Louis; As mystical as The Shroud; More amusing than the Park; More striking than lightning. The sun diminishes behind her; In any room, she is Feng Shui. It's futile to compare. She is the globe, all else is alien. The last breath of winter's glory, The first open flower of spring, The coolness of a summer rain, The palette of autumn's color, These and all others wither And fade behind the foreground.

My body burns to rove far from man-made buildings, prisons for the modern soul. I need to traverse the frontiers white man stole from those who made it their home. I've been down to the Everglades of Florida. Fan boats flew through the estuary lines with roots of mangroves. I've been to the Hoh Rain Forest of Washington where fog descended on the shoreline and married the sulfur smell rising from hot springs. I must experience America's coast to coast beauty. Every spare seconds I spend luxuriating in the sun, thinking of all the places untouched. My list of desires grows as the glaciers of Glacier recede in Montana, beckoning me to the Rocky Mountain Peaks. Old Faithful gushes, surrounded by wolves and grizzlies. Someday I'll cross Yellowstone's expansive mountain ranges. from Idaho to Montana to Wyoming. On the arches of Utah I'll face my fear of heights and find solace at the tops of time-layered sandstone towers. Descending the Grand Canyon I'll study beautiful colors exposed by years of erosion. In winter Death Valley will be braved. The lowest and direst point will exhilarate me with scaled creatures as sand dunes whisper my name with every hot breath. The Badlands of South Dakota will hope I come backpacking through prairies to watch precious bison roam. California Redwood trees and I will stand side by side as friends. Yosemite will call me to her cliffs and I will chase waterfalls and sequoia groves until I've seen it all. I ache to explore the terrain that bears my name, the country I call home.
