It’s a beautiful day, like a hole in perpetual winter. We rode bikes around campus - everyone was out. When it’s cold I just go place to place but today reminded me that outdoors can be fun. Of course, it’s supposed to snow tomorrow night - just a few snow atoms, I think. Lisa was laying on her back in the grass reading. She rolled over and smoothed the book flat. In the fleeting, golden moment between dusk and evening, the edges of Lisa’s gold hair looked almost green. I’m right there next to her - we’re sharing a towel-like blanket. She takes up a pen and writes something in the margins - leaving stray thoughts like breadcrumbs. Then trades the pen for a highlighter and colors several phrases. We’re poking around the edges of our chemistry midterm. Her face has tightened in concentration. I could imagine her wearing a similar expression while taking the test. Later, we’ll combine our little scribbles (her handwriting is awful) and highlights, class notes and charts into something collaborative and shareable. She passes me a note, like a riddle, which I read and hand back, annoyed. “That question doesn’t interest me.” I say nonchalantly. “You mean you don’t know the answer,” she guesses correctly. “Not yet.” I admit. Rumor has it that Putin will attempt to salvage his reputation by saying his ill-fated invasion of Ukraine was an attempt to stop the new season of “The Kardashians.” While we can ALL embrace THAT goal, I think it’s just an excuse (politics). I love classes - the ideas that we’re exposed to, like Agential Identities or Nominative Determinism Hypothesis - ideas, some ½ stupid, some profound but things I wouldn’t have thought of in 200 years. I constantly find myself thinking “Who THOUGHT of this?”

For those who are the future: Don’t use your freedom as a red carpet for a popular pop singer, or a president. Don’t walk on it to get a phone that is smarter than you! Don’t hate, erase all the lines on the map, unite your nationalities to “ human”, let love spread through the oceans. Don’t be racist, racism pulls the nations back, and the souls down. Don’t be a slave for the brand of your shirt, for the kardashians granddaughters lips, or for the green paper. Don’t be a slave for the nothingness, for what will be gone.

Don’t be a slave
Flicking through your magazine, you want that perfect face. Put it on your credit card, become the perfect Wife. May as well go the extra mile, book yourself in for a new hairstyle. Get your nails done, you might as well. Something bright so your friends can tell. What did it all cost? You went too far but at least you look like your favourite star. After all, let's have no doubt. To look like this is what life's about. Isn't it?? Poetry by Kaydee.

Showroom Mummies.
I'd rather keep running this imaginary marathon going Because the pulse just keeps getting stronger And i don't get this feeling often So i'd rather keep up with you until the moments notice Forget about the tropes that keep us on the rope I gave the Television all the soap it wanted Now it's running it's operas And i'm running the marathon For something For something i'm unsure of For someone? Whatever it is, it's better than Keeping Up With The Kardashians. TV rots your brain I favor going against the grain No offense guys But keeping up in Marathons is much healthier The water companies will thank you Why should they not? Thanks for not letting me rot Whatever it is Whoever you are I'd keep up with you.
