When I was younger, I was told the story of
The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe.
I always felt Closets were more accurate.
So I always checked for a Narnia during my childhood.
I checked for Narnia during
Family Gatherings with all of their opinions that
Drove me into closets.
I checked for Narnia during
School in staffrooms hiding from toxic education which
Drove me into closets.
I checked for Narnia during
Hide and Seek with childhood friends who judged and
Drove me into closets.
Then a girl found me there.
And the closet gained windows.
She pulled me out and told me how I would
Suffocate if I stayed in there too long.
She told me she liked what she saw through my
Closet with windows.
She told me she used to be the same.
And that had someone found her.
I didn't see her again after that,
But I learnt how to turn Closets into ones with
Windows.
And I learnt how to have PRIDE in my
Clothes with colour in an open closet.
She gave them windows.
I gave them freedom.

Behind the scenes
Hidden
In the closet
It’s all the same
I’m stuck
No one supports me
The real me
The one I can only show friends
I don’t want to hide it
Not from my family
But I have to
They wouldn’t understand
They’d just say “I’m being selfish”
Or “I don’t understand”
But I’m not dumb
I understand everything perfectly
I know who I am
And who I like
No one can change that
Hopefully people will accept me
For me
Maybe I won’t have to hide
I can finally be true
Unlike most people
It’s relaxing
Finally knowing
Who I am
The mystery is solved
I know me
Who I am was finally
Revealed
