Life occurs and I get sidetracked New wounds form and I feel Setback Yet, I always come back to the path I know best It’s the endless road I call happiness I might lack seeing the beauty I hold Or gracefully accept the compliments I’m told Yet, I always know when I truly assess My worth is more valuable than an abundance of gold It seams at times I need life’s permission Before I can proceed with my own mission Yet, nothing can stop me from fulfilling my dreams So Current be ready, I flow only upstream ~ Sheri Salvador Hayes Sheryl Hayes, If Life Was Made On Canvas

Upstream
There she sat for unending days A vacant mournful mold A radiant beauty in my eyes With a story left untold She grasped moments that she viewed Of children playing outside While she sat inside her only friend The wheelchair she occupied She longed to be a part of Everything that she was seeing To run and dance with others Was just an image of her being She was gorgeous to say the least     An Angel ~ ~ in despair That needed a chance to journey Somewhere other than her chair Introduced as just a "Smile” Soon graduating to a "friend” I was the recipient of her troubles My heart was genuine I desired to help her just as much As her desire to be free I told her that she soon would dance Embraced by the arms of me She blushed and shrugged at the thought Knowing this could never be For her legs were limp and tiny A feature through destiny I told her not to reject so fast That there are many forms of dance That angels get by with just their wings So, she surely stood a chance I lowered myself down to her chair My arms enwrapped her waist Raising her to my level Where freedom was embraced She was an angel ~now in flight As my two feet, carried four We rejoiced in every movement That we danced across the floor Like leaves blowing across the ground We bounced, we meshed, we swayed We both fulfilled a heartfelt desire As our bodies entwined that day She now was the view of envious eyes A display of rhythmic light Captivating her many admirers By her illuminating sight For I, she was what I always knew Exquisiteness on reserve Not shelled by grief no more A beauty has emerged copyright@Iflifewasmadeoncanvas

Days swept past me quickly I woke to years gone by Sitting silent for what felt like eternity In a lonely world, I called mine Letters piled in my doorway As they fell onto the floor And the telephone rang constantly Yet I cried and chose to ignore Seasons passed through my window Fallen snow, rain, leaves and sunshine Falling on everyone but me Why were those days I earned denied? The world was just so frightening Knowing no one would understand A woman who wept internally And suffering was her only friend As my palms caught my sorrowful tears And my bones grew cold and stiff So many tried to support me To offer my heart a lift Yet I turned a cheek to silence Shutting out people that I cherished Sealing off love and life as I knew it Forced in sadness where I perished Staring at those same four walls Listening to my own loud cries I’m angry at the person who Keeps telling me that I should hide Battles of thoughts take over me The Angel verses the Devils side Raising my hope then stripping is away The Devil wins time after time Held captive in such darkness I search for some light as relief And the letters and calls keep coming Until the Devil awards his releas

Days Denied
. “FEED ME” . Feed me happiness, illuminate my soul Like a bright yellow sun Of orange and gold Light a path, enter as many Hearts that are in need Hearts that need mending. Warm my nights Broaden my smile So my light will spread For years to miles Feed me happiness Illuminate my soul Of sparkling hues Even the blind can’t refuse .

Feed Me
Clouds weave gently across sapphire skies Absorbing what’s left of its beauty Clutching space like the thoughts in my mind I sit and I wonder if he is coming Waves crash firmly against my feet As the Ferry paves its way to shore Hauling in smiles of so many   I just sit and I wait once more Hung in the valance of a dream A Chance passes me like the blue horizon Clouds cast now, a darker image I’m anchored to such sad emotion My salty tears flow in high tides As the vessels signals its final farewell Breaking free from its sturdy dock As I remain dock to weakened hope Tomorrow will bring another day Of beautiful skies and possibilities Interlaced with despair and a chance of clouds Until the ferry rides my smile ashor

Chance of Clouds
A heart so troubled and in doubt Not sure, what life is all about She feels invisible yet she sees herself When she looks into the mirror People tend to pass her by Refused the lips of any guy She soothes herself by wishful thoughts When she dreams all by herself She speaks of love and passion In such an ordinary fashion As if, she has encountered The love of another Massive pain, at times, paralyses A body of rejection, only she realizes She dances solo once again To a song that only, she can hear Her body parched, a thirst for affection Her painful heart, desires protection If only she can be embraced By the hands of someone else Its only her hands that she finds familiar Its only her own eyes that can see her She longs the company of anything other, Than the fantasies inside her mind Copyright @sheryllinhayes If Life Was Made on Canvas
