My plants are green— of course they are. What else could they be? The grass is green too. But tell me— is it greener than the winter-bright blue of your eyes, sharper than cold, sharper than knowing? Is it as deep as roses learning your mouth by heart, as dark as the places in me that learned your name in silence, that took on the color of your hair? I don’t think I’ll ever know. I live on the other side now— where the grass is meant to be greener, the sky owes me clarity, the sun should love me more. But your eyes still find me, your lips still end my nights, and your hair— softer now, threaded with gray— still tangles in my hands like it never left. They were right about the grass. It is greener here. But my plants are dead, and I am still here, loving you like nothing else is allowed to grow.

Greener
i.  Seven words and she’ll fall in love. I’ve been told that’s all it takes. ii. I didn’t know it would be you. But that’s the funny thing about love. You see, when we first met, my heart didn’t race the way it does now. My stomach wasn’t filled with butterflies. My face wasn’t flushed. But, to me, you were always gorgeous. I just didn’t see you that way. iii. At first you were an alien beauty. A lone planet waiting to be discovered. And to a lonely astronaut the allure of a foreign body was enough to draw me into your orbit. But that was a mere shallow, superficial, and scientific, interest. It wasn’t until I explored the depths of your oceans and caves, the vastness of your fields and planes before I realised that I was missing something. The three words to make seven ten. I’m in love. iv. If I’m honest, it felt like love. Hidden, valuable, much sought and seldom found. Love. If the sun’s the center of our solar system, then you’re the center of mine. Everything always seemed to revolve around you. All the songs were about you… about us. All my thoughts were about you… about us. All I could ever talk about was you… was us. You were the last thought on my mind before I went to sleep, the first when I awoke. You were there in my dreams keeping me company as we danced amongst the stars. I was, I am, and I forever will be loving you. If I could tell you, I would. I love you. v. She doesn’t know it when I say: “I am at your service, my lady”. Those were seven words, did it work? Does she love me too? Again I try: “Do you want to go out tonight?” - “I’d love to.” Wait… did she just complete my seven? Again I try: “So what exactly are we doing tonight?” - “I don’t know.” She did it again, did you see? She completed me. We spent 7 nights a week together. We walked the city streets by starlight. But no star could ever outshine you. The seven wonders of the world paled against you. You were the bounce in my step. My soul, my rhythm, my muse. The soft tone and shape of your voice could calm storms. One loving glance tamed the wildest beasts. Your soothing touch warmed the hardest hearts. A single kiss would be like heaven. Do you know? vi. I love you, I think you know. But you’ve said nothing, I don’t know. I know your secrets, I know your voice. I know your sorrows, I know your joys. Your favourite things, humor, music, your footstep I take in stride. I know you. But I don’t know if you love me. I spend all my waking hours with you, and in my sleep I dream dreams of you. Of all the cosmic entropy, I had the pleasure and luck of finding you. Of all my scientific endeavours, discovering our chemistry is my most treasured. Of all the mysteries in the world, your heart I wish to solve. If I’m honest, it feels like love. vii. You rest your head on my shoulder. And cuddle close. “Please tell me, I need to know.” - “I love you.”

Of what weight does love hold? Cosmic gigantic love Streatching from star to star, from time to time, Leaping all barriers, In an insane hurtle race Run by rabid contenders, Frothing at the mouth, Colidicopes in their eyes Swirling, As they clear fence after fence Hardly catching themselves As their sloppy foot falls land, All ankles, knees, wobblingly catching themselves Their brains decifering the confused code Of signals beamed from legs heart and stomach All culminating in this Borderline Purposeful looking Yet unintentional Floppy mess   For in the sake of their love , Of some thing that they hope will make them immortal, or at least super, That temporary and basic seemingly Irrefutable good that one feels in his pit Expanding them and inflating them till they float High enough above others To squintingly look down, into the eyes of those unable to bouey bob above the rest. Lights flicking on their foreheads so Even if they don't talk people know Where they are and how splendid Their bobbing is. And let's not kid ourselfs Look at those two Out in the dark and deep The 2 hrtz signal allowing them each To be sure the other exists Flashes reveal the hidden expressions Those times of clarity so sparce When all you want to do is look at them For a good long time Take in the other completely for in those nights When all thoughts clump Turning colours to brownish purple. An you cannot see the other to have them help as they so enjoy. Two distant bleeps of light Red but none the less visible To all around After all I guess they will be serving as warner's, out their on thier own. What rocks and reefs the will they arbrais What swells will the brave, And what will we learn from watching From shore, Whishing them luck as the sun rests on the other side, as the white caps tumble, as the clouds roll on overhead. Its a very wet scenario.

She fills her head with tales of love and tragedy, In war-torn cities and rival families to ancient melody, Tossing and turning, on her bed She lives the lives of lovers so young and foolish and sweet. She dreams of Orpheus, his melancholy and his music. Of Seigfried and his journey to the damsel he seeks. Then Samson who fell twice in the hands of a woman. And Romeo who no longer felt the need to run. Now,the morning light urges her to wake up. The dreams disappear and the longing suddenly stops For she knows that though tragedies may happen, She still looks forward to that day she will meet him.
