Its a time of year when bad ghosts are bold
Praying on the wronged and lonely
Undermining the abused
Ingratiating addictions
Gloating on the unlucky
Misdirecting the dispossessed
When in need good ghosts abound
Floating in an evanescent state
When minds are in need
They will appear
Battling for your good
Settling deep into my pillow
Presents are wrapped
The alarm is set
Christmas eve is passing
Dreams are stirring
Past times were good
Caution thrown to the wind
Countenance the excesses
Trivialised life balances
Is life not perfect
A ghost of the present arrives weighed down with self-doubt
Wearily it rests at my feet
Legs now restless and cold
My eyes begin to flicker
Ears open with intent
" Viral incandescence haunting the weak and poor
Spreading disquiet and envy
Exploiting inequity and race
Setting one against another
Courage is sought
Repairing the balance
In search of thou caring will
And self-sacrifice"
A virtuous ghost gravitates to me
"The hands of life share the heavy weight on one’s shoulders
Knowledge engages the truths
Words open the mind
Exercise engenders the body
Fellowship lessons the pain"
A learned ghost of times to come brushes past my outstretched hand
"If able to support
Give time to others
Respect them all
Inspire to change"
A worldly ghost alights like a bird on my knee
"Spread good will to all creatures
Work against suffrage
Believe in your role
Seek the eco-goal"
Four ghosts now await my waking
They came in the anonymity of darkness
My eyes now laden, dreams confused
Which one will close my head on its way home?
My alarm bellows 'Its Christmas morning'
The house is quiet
My mind is alive
Who needs my help first?
So much to do
Another year is ending
Decide wisely thy moral standing
Help others whose ghosts are wanting
Reject the ghosts of your choosing
Belief in you, as you believe in others

We all have something
to hide
Accept it
Feel it out
Learn how to break
the disguise
Laugh at it
make it feel warm
Sit and watch how others deal
with their problems
Focus
Do they lie?
and if bad at hiding it
make them laugh
Try to make them feel warm
It’s so easy to get
cold and locked up
We don’t need anymore soulless meat
walking around on this cold
and frigid world
Warm up
Break out of the disguise
Hold on to something
that matters and run with it
Try and find
your heat wave
to happiness

I dished up plates as he walked by
greasy stringy dyed red streaks
guitars hanging on all sides
the smells of unwashed body reeks
tattooed fingers and a lip ring
soft smooth tenor from his soul
man can that pirate guy sing
but his street life takes it's toll
never smiles, furtive eyes
scared of those that steal for drugs
this pirate garb is his disguise
but offers homeless friends his hugs
he saunters off to write some songs
this strange man caught my writer's eye
making money to right some wrongs
I was compelled to write about this guy
the life of the homeless is a mystery
the tales they could tell us, wild
about their sordid history
I'm sure that it would not be mild
and now I pray that they can sleep
Jesus loves these poor souls too
and for their sins, He did weep
they're the same to Him as me and you

No one ever asked her if she was okay.
She was the one they could go for when they needed help.
No one ever thought about her problems..
How would they know she hid them so well...
She always had a smile, and made everyone laugh. She was the sun, the epitome of silly and kind.
But as cliché as it was she was also the one who hurt the most.
The emotions bottled up, the issues she heard from everyone else almost felt like hers. The weight of being everyone's hero she barely had time to deal with her own..
Put them away she said, your friends need you. But on this day it was too much. Everything she'd repressed came to light she was miserable she was completely exhausted.
Energy lost.
Hope gone.
The will to help was non existent.
They had taken all her energy and left an empty carcass that once was a smiling and actually happy girl. And who was there to be her hero?
No one. Not a soul. She was left all alone in the darkness in the shadows of her friends and family. Because without her they were nothing.
