#happyfathersday
It's June the 9th—
I'm pensive about having
a figure so significant.
I've watched my dad pull an engine
from a Nissan Sunny, alone—
fix it, reinstall it, alone.
I've watched my dad shirtless every morning,
praying in tongues.
We never owned a rooster,
never needed an alarm—
only my dad's voice, praying in tongues.
When my dad speaks, I fall silent.
I become a fool—
a listening fool.
I've watched my dad move shrewdly:
once, when school opened
but money wouldn't stretch,
he bought old batteries,
sold them as scrap
the same day—
so I could pay my fees.
I'm pensive about having
a figure so significant.
I'm baffled
by his patience.
He sits in rooms thick with noise,
conversations crashing over each other,
but barely speaks—
still, patient.
I praise my dad.

(a Father's Day acrostic, reposted...edited)
F-athers don't always show their feelings, they're not
A-s demonstrative and warm as most mothers are...yet,
T-heir love is deep...beyond measure....it's amazing
H-ow they hold their weak moments, without a tear falling...they're
E-steemed...like a statesman of enduring greatness...silently,
R-apidly perceiving the needs of their children, their family...always
S-elfless, as mothers are....to FATHERS, family is their priority...
::::::
A father is made of concrete,
hard as stone...a bit creviced at times
.......yet, always replete
with pebbles of love...and warmth, especially
when he nears the threshold of his home
to his children, his heart is soft as satin
...in his home, he is the hearth...the wall
........the love for his family,
............a fire burning within him:::

There's not a single day
That you'd come home
Without wearing
A smile on your face.
I would hurriedly run
Towards the front door
And eagerly reach
For one of your hands.
As it pressed upon my
Sweaty forehead
Filled with naive thoughts
And childish games.
I felt the warmth in it
Like a tireless contraption
Ready to twist and turn
And push and pull.
You'd effortlessly brush off
The dirt from your shoes
And quickly remove your socks
So you can walk around the house.
You'd gladly embrace mother
And greet my brother and sisters
Almost like you've returned
From a wonderful vacation.
But now I finally realize
You've been coming home
From the daily battles of life
Emerging as an undefeated victor.
You are the unsung hero
Whose stories I'm proud to tell,
Whose resolve is unparalleled,
Whose love is beyond compare.

Fathers don't always show their feelings, they're not
As demonstrative and warm as most mothers are...yet,
Their love goes silently beyond immeasurable...it's admirable
How they hold their weak moments, without a tear falling...they're
Esteemed...admired...like a statesman of enduring greatness
Rapidly, silently perceiving the needs of their children, their family......always
S-elfless! To fathers, family is a priority!

Inside me is a whirlwind of emotions that no one not even you could understand,
it's not that I expect you to.
Stuck within are the moments that remind me how weak I still am even though I am trying my best to be strong.
Your snide remarks don't ever help at all, just verifying these demons in my head.
My hands shake while my entirety submerges into a cold sea of unwanted yet written memories.
So this is what it'd feel like every year,
Well at least now I know.

Padre de pamilya kung ika'y tawagin,
sa amin ika'y laging nagbibigay pansin.
Pangaral dito, payo doon;
minsan pa nga'y nagbibigay leksyon.
Ang buhay mo'y lubos na pinagpala,
'di lamang sa dahilang buhay mo ay mahaba,
ngunit dahil ika'y nakakilala sa Maykapal;
buhay mo ngayo'y puno ng dasal.
Ilang beses mang mapagkamalan na ika'y aking lolo,
hindi mahihiyang sabihin, "Hindi ah, Daddy ko 'to!"
Dahil kung uulitin ang aking buhay,
ako'y 'di magdadalawang-isip, ikaw pa rin ang pipiliin kong tatay.
Aking dalangin sa Maykapal,
buhay mo pa'y dugtungan at hindi mapagal.
Sa iyong pagtanda,
'di magsasawang sayo'y mag-aruga.
Ngayong araw ng mga tatay,
nais kong sabihin, "Pagmamahal namin sayo'y walang humpay;
halaga mo sa ami'y 'di mababawasan,
ni hindi matutumbasan ng kahit anuman."

We may bump heads a lot
We may not always agree
But whether we're on the same page or not
There's something I want to set free.
You may be short tempered
You may always get mad
There's great memories to remember
Whether good or bad.
You're my dad and my role model
I strive to be half the man you are
From the days when you fed me my bottle
To today when we've both come so far.
You're the best dad that I could've asked for
Even though it may not always show
I'm eternally grateful and therefore
I wrote you this just to let you know.
It's the 20th time we're together
And I'm blessed to have lived one more year
You're the only person who can fill me with anger
And then make me smile from ear to ear.
So on this day that belongs to all fathers
There one thing that I just wanna say
I love you for all that you've done
And I wouldn't have it any other way.

The skies talk back at me sometimes
They tell me, you're with them
I know you're in a better place
That puts a smile on my face
Your looking down at us, proud to see
Who your children have become
Hoping one day we would meet
The marvelous day you'll return
Or the day I'll meet you there
Till that day, you're in my prayers
And we keep fighting all our fears
We don't give up we persevere
Trying my best to be the best
Thank you pops for being my motivation
Happy fathers day.
Love, Moore
