look up, my dear friend
life is more than the hours
of your nine to five
look up, my dear friend
life is more than the whispers
of your life’s mistakes
look up, my dear friend
life is beyond the limits
of your own sorrows
look up, my dear friend
life is waiting just for you
take a chance on you

When men **** nature,
Sterile children may be born,
Of concrete and steel.
Angles sharp and tall,
They grow to the sky daily,
On their mother's grave.
Then in false homage,
They build a fake monument,
With locks of mom's hair.
This is Central Park,
A manufactured green space,
For all that was killed.
Malodorous meat,
Offered to the hungry dogs,
Who think it prime beef.

We love roses best,
Sweet smell, glorious petals,
We ignore the thorns.
Weeds are flowers too,
Saffron dandelions bloom,
With edible leaves.
Children's sweet delight,
Summer's snowflakes their blown seeds,
Gathered gifts for mom.
We protect the rose,
And poison dandelions,
Their beauty unprized.
Nature provides both,
Without judgment as to worth,
It is we who judge.
So with people too,
Flamboyant facades we praise,
Plain, true worth we shun.

Fiction comes alive,
Dystopian visions thrive,
In Cities world wide.
A Clockwork Orange,
Lord or the Flies, Brave New World,
Nineteen Eighty Four.
Animal Farm and,
Fahrenheit Four Fifty One,
All have come to pass.
And they will perdure,
If we defend what's clearly,
Indefensible.
Feed a hungry beast,
It will grow and it will thrive,
And eat you alive.
Likewise criminals,
Who thrive when no consequence,
Attach to their crimes.
When crimes are excused,
And criminals deemed victims,
What should we expect?
Poverty, racism,
Broken homes, addiction, vice,
Contribute to crime.
But crime's true root cause,
Is immoral criminals,
And their enablers.
Moral compass lost,
Confident blind fools lead us,
On perdition's road.
When did we forget,
That the road to hell is paved,
With good intentions?

Haiku – My Style
Enough Haikus yes
I need to write more my style
Only what I know
Haiku – Words of Pain
Get back to rhyming
Let my words flow like the rain
Back to words of pain
Haiku – Save the Dirt
Put my head in dirt
Don’t know why it must hurt so
Maybe save the dirt
Haiku – OCD’s
OCD for me
Look at me now going now
OCD I see

Haiku - I Love You
How can I love you
More and more every day
That is the only way
Haiku – What’s Good
I don’t know what’s good
I only know what I like
Maybe you like it
Haiku – Question
I had an answer
What question did you ask me
Can you tell me now
Haiku – Bring the Light
If the night is dark
Will the sun still bring the light
Where will the stars hide
Haiku – Old Poet
Maybe an old man
Might still learn some old tricks yet
An old poet writes

Bitters fade away
Golden brew soothes heavy souls
Joy in each small sip
Froth crowns the moment
Memories swirl like soft foam
Cheers spark a new dawn
Raise a glass tonight
Laughter echoes in soft clinks
Hope in every toast

Dreams linger softly,
Time slips through idle whispers,
Action quietly waits.
A fleeting moment spills,
Hesitation drapes its veil,
Will bloom or decay?
In the hush of pause,
Whispers kindle hidden hope,
New resolve takes flight.

Sweet lure in the air,
Gentle touch wins eager wings,
Kindness draws them close.
_As wings are drawn, hands extend_
Warm hands reaching out,
Broken hearts begin to mend,
Kindness heals the soul.
_A tender warmth spreads outward_
A ripple of warmth,
Softly spreads through endless streams,
Kindness lights the way.
_And in the light, words fall softly_
Gentle words cascade,
Soft rain on a thirsty field,
Kindness breathes new life.
_Life finds bridges in open hands_
A hand softly held,
Bridges built in quiet care,
Kindness mends the world.
_Under a mended sky, stars glow_
Stars guide weary souls,
Kindness shines, a steadfast light,
In darkness, it glows.
_Each glow, a spark ignites anew_
Each act of kindness,
A small spark igniting hope,
Fires warming the cold.
Kindness, a soft spark,
Igniting hope through the dark,
Mends hearts, lights the way.

Silent board awaits,
Knight leaps over pawns' defence,
Moonlight whispers check.
Pieces poised for war,
Queen glides with regal purpose,
Victory's sweet breath.
Bishop's path is clear,
Diagonal whispers move,
Endgame's silent thrill.
Rook stands tall and firm,
Castle walls protect the king,
Strategy unfolds.
Checkmate declared,
King's last stand in silent fall,
Triumph's quiet joy.

Poems, sonnets, haikus, odes, songs, prose;
every one of them are trapped in a little black box—
a pen, the only key that unlocks my heart for everyone.
A box teeming with all my pains in it;
secrets or lies? There’s an eternity in that box- all my
verses are in it; some remain locked till the inevitable
death of another disregarded poet.
Oh, my little black box; filled with thoughts-
your love is less;- in an honest jest; laughing at most
of my secret ideas— ones far from their best, further less.
Writing something to forget as something less;
pieces I beget as children; I leave them so fatherless.
__Trapped in that little black box!__

NIGHT HAIKUS
Dew-laden grass bend,
misty air touches warm skin,
…..a tranquil evening.
Cool night breeze blows…’pon
scintillas of light..….fireflies,
on blue starry night!
Cuppa tea…on palm,
tired body and mind succumb,
bed calls....night is calm.

Young, naïve lawyer,
For-profit business school dean,
A Quixotic quest.
Idealism,
Despite the odds,
May yet win the day.
Or will it be crushed?
Humor, angst, triumph, heartbreak,
All par for the course.
Love found and love lost,
Trial by fire tempers or breaks,
Steel in life's hot forge.
Which for our young dean?
Will he too tilt at windmills,
Thinking them cruel knights?
Or will he prevail,
Stay true to his quest until,
He succeeds or fails?

A baker's dozen
Of speculative fiction
Varied short stories
Could humanity
Survive extinction event
With two years warning?
A plane will soon fly
A cargo of hate that ends
Our Earth and much more
What would dolphins learn
About humankind if we
Could speak in their tongue?
Would the attainment
Of absolute truth result
In joy or despair?
Can the least of us
Be a god in his own right
To species unknown?
Should we take the word
Of professional critics
As to what is art?
Can a long-dead witch
Give a chance for redemption
To one who is lost?
Secret of the Sphinx
To be revealed in prime time
Sure you want to watch?
If you find true love
In a most unlikely source
Don't turn it away
Alien bearing gift
Of life-long health and foresight
Accept it or pass?
What can a man do
When dreams want to live through him
And cost him his life?
Come take a journey
Of inner and outer space
On these themes and more
