I'm not.
My Dad thinks I should
be out burning bras
showing off unshaved legs
parading through the streets "like the gays."
I do not.
I remember talking in highscool
about my imaginary rich husband,
and never working again.
My Dad does not.
He remembers panicking in hischool
telling me not to be a cheerleader
asking "why can't girls play on he football team?"
My Dad does not realize,
I don't want to burn my
Victoria's Secret push up bra,
I want to shave my legs.
My dad thinks
the only person who
can decide whether
or not
to keep a baby
is a woman.
I do not.
A baby-life
is created by a
man and a woman.
It should take a
man and a woman to decide.
My Dad does not realize it,
He thinks I am a product of
the patriarchy,
a victim to the crime.
but,
I don't want to
march down the streets of Boston,
****
Because I know some women,
cry **** when its a lie.
I know some men,
who cant cry
for help,
because **** is a woman's issue.
My Dad does not realize it hurts,
because
I am not a feminist,
I am an equalist.
I believe in
mutual respect,
choice,
balance.
Stay at home moms
and
Stay at home dads.
My dad does not realize it hurts the cause to be a "feminist"
My dad is a feminist,
I am not.

I am angry at men for so many reasons.
Women being assaulted every three minutes or so
Forcing us to bear all the weight of support
While not being granted any responsibility
At my dad for dying and leaving
At my step dad for having an affair
At my brother for hitting me so **** much while growing up
At my other brother for always staying away when he was unsure if we loved him.
At every man who hurt, threatened, hit my sister
For shredding our worth and self esteem
to cover up the immense insecurities men feel
due to societal expectations and pressures
put forth by generations of men who came before them
A toxic patriarchy they themselves will continue
For silencing me in every ******* conversation.
MOTHER Earth, NOT father.
**** YOU.

‘Just be yourself”, they say
but what do you do
when being yourself
is a girl
but some days a boy
and other days you don’t even feel
like you’re any of those two?
What do you do
when being yourself
is something you can’t explain
something you can’t expect people to understand?
What do you do
When you can’t be yourself?
When you have to introduce yourself by your birthname
Because you simply can’t have two names
When you are still your parents daugther,
No matter how you introduce yourself?
What do you do
If being yourself
Is something that is not accepted by most people?
Enlighten me please.
