Cannon fire echoes, A mother's heart breaks in two, Lost son on the field. Yet she stands with pride and grace, His name wrapped in honours stone.

A Mother's Pride
Whirling of blades, clouds of dust Screaming, suffering, litters of men Crimson covered deck Water of red flushing Rinsing away the horrors of man His uniform is ***** and wreaks Dirt that isn’t dirt He stumbles into the showers Dazed in a trance, shock Dropping his rifle, pistol falling to the ground Standing under the cold rain Dust and dirt, wash away Water of crimson Mud that isn’t mud Guilt so heavy, he cannot breathe Death all around him, Yet he lives Why? Brothers and sisters, gone Yet he remains, why? Guilt overwhelming Pain, searing pain. Yet he lives. Unworthy, full of guilt Crumped in the shower Unworthy He weeps for the fallen

For the Fallen (1991)
In memory of the fallen heroes, I stand A US Marine who bore witness to war's hand Bravery and sacrifice, are etched in my mind As I carry the weight of the ones left behind Medals shine brightly on my chest But they feel heavy, a constant test For I did not earn them, not truly The real heroes are gone, so unruly Gallantry, Valor, Honor, Hero These words now feel so hollow For it was my brothers who truly deserved To be honored, respected, and preserved I fought in battles afar, and I survived While they lay on the battlefield, deprived Of the chance to come back home To their families, where they truly belong I am unworthy of these accolades For I live, while they lie in their graves Their memory lives on in my heart As I carry their legacy, I am never apart So here lies a US Marine Proud to have served, yet still unseen For the real heroes are the ones who fell Amid the battle, where they dwelled Rest in peace, my brothers in arms For you are the true heroes, with all your charms I will never forget the sacrifices you made And I will honor you, until my final day.

Unworthy (2001)
On his wedding night, He was called to fight. His bride was pretty, Yet it felt just right. "A call by your nation, To serve a generation". He grabbed his weapon heading to battle. She stood at bay, to say goodbye. "Come soon soldier, a warrior grows in me." She cried. It's too late now, his ears denied. He left a soldier, But came a hero. He left a man, But came a father. 9:20 am, a knock was heard. She raced the door and saw a bird. "Your husband was gallant, but fell to rest." She hugged her warrior, so tight to her breast. The misery of death is to fight someone's war.

A hero, husband, father
Zero heroes Whatever happened to the heroes? Those that we used to adore. I need somebody to tell me, Where do they go when they’re about to fall? Whatever happened to the heroes? Where are they now? Nobody knows. Where did they all choose to go? I guess I lost all my heroes. They all seem to fade away in the end. Whatever happens to the ego’s? When we decide they have let us down. I guess things will never be the same again; oh no. We were surrounded by infamy, But now they’re all so sweet; no-one is angry. They’re all so nice it makes me want to scream! Get back on your star and let us once more dream. Why does this happen to our heroes? We want to love them like we did all those years ago. But something happens to our heroes; No more shouting loud, they’re all so mellow. Whatever happened to our heroes? They change with time; they all fall or die. Our heroes change in our life time; I wish I could go back and see them in their prime… I want to go back in time. (C)2017 Aa Harvey. All Rights Reserved.

Zero heroes
they say if you reach too close to the sun you fall to the depths of the ocean below like icarus on his wings of melting wax.
